That's the thing it has to be someone young, then they could heel it up talking about their 1-0 streak getting heat. Eventually it would grow... But it could only work for the right person. Probably way too hard to pull off now.

If Wade was a little younger than 30 at the time they buried Taker, I thought he should have faced and beat Taker at mania, making him a big time player as a heel for a long time to come. But he is a little too old in my opinion.

Im sure Taker is willing to lose but I dont think it should happen.

Whoever beat him would be over every guy who failed to do it, and few could sell being better than all those who've lost to Taker at mania imo.

I don't really understand the whole "no one should beat him" sentiment. If I was the Undertaker, I don't think I'd want to retire with the streak intact. I'd want to put someone over before I left. What good is the "legacy" of the streak if it isn't used? Once Taker hangs 'em up for good, what does that do for anyone? It's retiring with a title. It just shouldn't be done (Edge is an exception because he was injured).

But it's not like Taker hasn't put guys over throughout his entire career. He has what, 3-4 title reigns, and none of them were that long. The streak is HIS thing, I wouldn't have a problem with him retiring with it. Facing the Undertaker at WM, win or loss, is enough to put a guy over at this point.

His perfect Mania record just adds to his legend, and I'm sure that's one thing Taker himself would never agree to. He's put in his time putting people over, there's no reason for him to give up the one mark that no one will ever touch and helps make the Undertaker the Undertaker.

If he's had 3, yes 3, end of an era matches at Mania (vs HBK and vs HHH twice) and won them all, there is no way he's losing to Ziggler, Punk, etc. even to put them over big time. And trust me, I love Ziggler and Punk just as much as the next guy and think they will be big stars, but not at Taker's expense.
First just to be clear, nobody is saying they think he will lose. Just throwing out names for guys that could and should do it if it happens.

Taker is also THE guy in the WWE. He's the guy that has always been there. He's the guy that has been loyal to Vince through it all and never left him. He'll have that and the stars that he helped make. The Rock put over guys just like Taker and none of his title reigns were really that long either. Granted he's got seven of them. This is about like Bret Hart not wanting to lose the title in Canada to Shawn. Pretty much everything in the business is a prop for the better story. I won't say that the streak should end, but I certainly don't agree with the idea that it shouldn't.

True, and if the streak were to end, i'd rather it go to a guy who needs to be put over vs a guy thats already over like Cena or Punk. But I don't think it should end. Have someone take Taker to the limit, still 'lose', but be the last one he beats and send him into retirement. That way they still get the rub, but the streak remains intact.

Cena's promo was met backstage with universal derision, especially coming after the top-notch mic work from The Rock and CM Punk earlier in the show:

One of the big topic of conversations among wrestlers after Raw was how bad the John Cena promo was, especially since it was closing the show and came after strong work from CM Punk and The Rock.
Last night John Cena closed Raw with a lengthy promo that was definitely...interesting. (You can see the entire thing here)...

Good. maybe this will spark some change. Probably not, but we can hope.

That was one of the most pathetic promos I have ever seen him do. I have seen better Ultimate Warrior promos.

It was bad, but it was also just terrible writing. The whole thing was unnecessary, he should have just been in a match since it seems the Ziggler/Cena feud has almost died down.

Cena and Ziggler will be 1/2... so John can of course break the record for longest time in a Rumble match.

They write Cena's promos for him?

If true, it's ridiculous that he's been around this long and can't do his own interviews.

I was more of referring to entire segment in general, him even doing a promo was pointless and everyone coming out the way they did was meh too.

No, he is actually one of the few guys (along with Punk) that actually has almost total creative control over their promo/characters. The writers give them some talking points sometimes, but they can choose how they want to actually deliver the promos themselves. All of the ad-libbing you see guys do (especially those two) is all them.
