Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Exactly. At the height of the era, Austin was no longer an elite worker (but he could tell a story). The Rock has never been great (but he can tell a story). Jericho could work like crazy, but didn't start to really get over until he learned to build a feud. Shane McMahon's matches were always incredible, and that dude didn't wrestle his first match until he was, what, 29? That era is great because guys up and down the roster, from Stone Cold to Triple H to X-Pac to Val Venis, had characters people cared about. Who's character does anyone really care about now? Outside of the main event guys, not really anyone? I like Kofi's matches, but I could give a damn whether he wins or loses. Some of that is on the writers, sure, but mostly it's on the talent. I care about Ziggler because he made himself something. He didn't wait for a writer to hand him a good storyline. He made so you cared about his character whether he was in a meaningful feud or now.Comment

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
No way that the Cena/Punk match is nearly that good without the great story built into it. A match without a story, or without anything on the line, won't do anything. There needs to be more meaningful matches, not just more, longer matches. A random 30 minute Daniel Bryan/Chris Jericho match might be technically awesome, but without any build up or anything on the line, no one is going to care.Go Knicks

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Anybody else hear about this? One of the many things wrong with WWE and Vince.
Brad Maddox was expected to be the one blamed for the bad "Highlight Reel" segment on Raw Monday. F4W Online is claiming that is indeed the case and Vince is pointing the ultimate finger at Maddox.
That segment was reportedly rewritten on the day of the show due to Vince thinking it was "really bad" in the first place. Then, the TV used for the Jeritron messed up while "The Marine 3" promo was airing, so the ring crew had to remove it. That's when Jericho adlibbed and mentioned his Jeritron magically disappearing.
Maddox's promo was supposed to mention the Jeritron, so it not being there is what supposedly caused him to flub his lines when he came out.
Although Brad Maddox is the one taking the fall for the segment, it should be noted that McMahon had already told Cole and Lawler through their headsets to bury the segment before Maddox even came out.
Backstage, Vince was heard calling it one of the worst segments ever, but many believed it wouldn't have been near as noticable if Cole and Lawler weren't told to bury it on the air.Comment

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Lol, what morons. I was fine with that whole bit until Cole and King started ****ting all over it. THAT'S what made it unbearable.
We finally got a new belt, is it too much to ask for a new commentary team too?Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Maybe they shouldn't have tried promoting those stupid movies that way in the first place. Considering each one was shown about 15 times during the show at that point.Michigan WolverinesChicago White SoxComment

I thought the segment was good and wondered why King/Cole had issues. McMahon is starting to remind me of Al Davis.Last edited by TheShizNo1; 03-14-2013, 06:03 PM.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
I like Maddox's character (Vestlemania 13, here I come) but sometimes his stupidity is too over the top, like the Jeritron comment. It was kinda odd being there live, as I was on the opposite side of where the hard camera was (right next to Ambrose/Rollins stopped in the crowd), so I had no clue why they took down the Jeritron for no reason. I don't blame everything on Maddox for that segment, as the commentary (rewatched it) was terrible, which you should NEVER bury your own segment, but Miz is so terrible at being a face, it pains me to listen to him talk on the mic as a face.NFL: Houston Texans / Carolina Panthers

Re: The OS WWE 'Dirt' Thread
Triple H making more big changes to WWE Developmental.
Triple H is making more big changes to WWE’s developmental system that could have a profound impact on WWE’s next generation of Superstars. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Triple H has pushed for the elimination of lengthy scripts for promos – and for the wrestlers to given general bullet points instead.
Some of the best talkers in wrestling history have gone on record stating that many of today’s Superstars never properly learn the art of cutting promos because they are so heavily scripted by WWE’s writing team. Working off bullet points will allow the wrestlers to show more of their personalities and require them to improvise a lot more. The idea is that the change will lead to characters being more authentic and not all sounding the same.
This is a much more “old school” approach – something Triple H is known for, compared to his father-in-law Vince.Mets/Giants/Knicks/Rangers/Manchester United/Notre Dame Football
