For me its been the fact that ive been watching both wwe and wcw since 1987. Ive followed both men. I remember GAB 1989 with Sting vs Muta like it was yesterday.(Wait it was, I watched in on WWE Network)

Ive watched taker come from Mean mark Callus days to the undertaker. They have both been among the top 5 more recognizable wrestlers ever. They have been the top faces of wwe and wcw in the late 90's and early 2000.

Trust me, ive never argued Sting or Takers on ring abilities. Sting has never been that great of a wrestler but to me Taker never was either. I would just like to see one match between the two.
    atleast..Its not Delaware

I dont think he would be a big a deal as we think he would if he showed up on WWE television this week or any other week.

He's a 55 year old guy who hasn't been hot in over a decade. But hey, I admit Ive never been a big Sting fan. I reserve the right to be way off base in this conversation.

I'm pretty confident Sting will be fine at Wrestlemania because he is a pretty big name in wrestling. But I do have some doubts about the build. I would hate for Sting to debut or be on the road to Wrestlemania next year and he's getting crickets from some of these brain dead crowds the WWE attracts these days. We've seen some pretty big names in wrestling get piss poor reactions and that's even for guys that were actually WWF guys.

By brain dead they could just be young fans. Sting really hasn't been relevant (unless you watch TNA) since the late 90s. This has to be a concern for management after the luke warm reception most 'legends' received on the Old School Raw. Sting really needs one of those 3 disc DVDs before he even shows up to educate younger fans on how big of a star he was.

He'd get crickets from me and I know who he is, haha.

I'm just a brain dead fan, though. Sting, to me, would be the first wasted Taker match in a loooong time - before the streak was even a thing.

I would have rather had Surfer Sting in his prime. Crow Sting was never my thing.

I like Sting and I think he, on and off is still capable of good work in the ring. His first WWE match should not be against Taker at Mania, although I'd be up for him facing Taker at another PPV maybe leading to a Mania match, although they would need to do some serious work to build him up as a threat. Especially if Brock doesn't win next week. Because let's face it if Brock-freaking-Lesnar can't do it then a 55 year old guy who's never wrestled in WWE wouldn't, at least on the face of it, look like he could either.

I'd love to see him do a year full time and then retire to be honest. Let him go into the Hall of Fame with Christian next year.

By brain dead they could just be ****ty crowds is what I mean. Come on now guys, we spend damn near every Raw thread bitching about the crowds and now we're going to get caught up in the verbiage used to describe them?

My point is it would suck to see this match get crickets for the entire build because Sting is only going to show up next Januaryish or February for his one and only WWE match and they aren't going to really know anything about him. At least Rock worked the Survivor Series before the Cena match even though everybody knew who he was in the crowd. I just think Sting would be better served getting himself over with a WWE crowd before jumping into a match with Taker.

With it being his home state I think he would make it until then and if he does decide to retire do it there in front of 100,000.

Crowds today would KNOW who Sting is, considering most of them were watching him during his time in WCW. The kiddies and the Cena-ites won't know but I'd say at least 70% of the crowd would know who he is. Remember, Sting still has the nostalgia factor on his side and nostalgia can be a very powerful drug as we've seen with past Wrestling stars/legends.

They need Sting in an angle, maybe at Mania this year. Just chuck him up in the rafters while he stands there. If the crowd pops book him into Mania 31. If crickets then bin the idea.

I think if they build it for a while, say this WM to next WM, a Taker vs Sting match could be pretty damn good. Not so much in the ring, but the build up could be really great.

Crow Sting was great at first when he would never talk and just randomly pop up, became corny after that.

I completely agree. When he didn't say a word, just pointed the bat out at 5-6 different people, it was just amazing.

Yes that was amazing even though surfer Sting was my favorite guy of all time, it was just different. It was all about the mystic of him, when was he gonna strike, and when he did his short promo it was like you were begging for me you wanted to know what he was thinking. When he joined the wolfpack I was like okay now he is corny can you go back to surfer Sting.
