Oh man...
I'm speechless. Speechless.
We are truly, as hardcore wrestling fans, a community of sorts moreso than other sports. This guy was a type of hero for alot of us.
Benoit was one of my favorites all-time, and in the ring was one of the best I've ever seen. This is heart-wrenching.
As far as this murder-suicide, if its true, then as sad as I am about the losing an amazing competitor in one of the sports I'm passionate about, this disgusts me. I have close ties to people with depression, and as bad as it gets there is no excuse for what he did. It may be a reason, but not an excuse. In the ring I will always respect him. If this is true, then out of the ring, I loathe him.
And that pains me to say....

If Benoit's mental problem could have been identified earlier, this could have been prevented. He obviously had a chemical imbalance and an advanced state of depression. Awful news.Comment

If what this story is saying is true, I think we can rule out temporary insanity. Does it last more than 24 hours? Killing his wife on Saturday and then his son on Sunday? What the hell was that poor kid going through from the time his mother died on Saturday until...well....he died? Jesus Christ, I feel sick.Comment

If he was killing them one a day, don't you think that the Son would have done something, called someone, or escaped if that was the case? Then again he might not have known his mom was dead if he was told to stay in his room. This is such a bizzaro situation.

*more speculation* Probably just a cover-up he provided before he committed the crimes.
*even more speculation* Benoit was a guy who took a pretty severe ***-kicking throughout his career. Just watching all those matches on Raw tonight, one can see just how many times this man was dropped on his head, in an extremely violent manner. And these are just some of his very best matches. You can multiply that amount by probably 500 (at the very least, the number is most likely in the tens of thousands).
Another thing we learned about Benoit from this show tonight is that he was very private, guarded, and always acted like a tough guy. Always trying to grind things out, and never complain.
I think it is certainly possible that Benoit suffered from horrible concussions which were probably never diagnosed (or ignored), and he tried to battle on despite their adverse consequences.
We've seen from ex-NFL'ers like Ted Johnson that these severe concussions can turn persons into monsters they truly aren't. Maybe something was building up with the wife which, combined with the concussions caused him to do this.
Please don't delete my post based on the speculation. I think this is a relevant discussion to be having at this point, and to wantonly disregard any insightful thought under a blanket rule meant to protect people from coping with reality seems too Disney for many.Comment

I don't know about the whole concussion-speculation, but the way everyone was talking about how private he was, and how he kept things to himself has me thinking that things just built up inside of him and drove him past his breaking point.
Things like that can twist the mind in half.Comment
