Re: WWE Reports That Chris Benoit Has Been Found Dead

I find this thread so very amusing. Last night everybody was crying their eyes out for Chris Benoit, and today everybody hates the man. The factual information has not really changed from last night. There has been no insight into why the incident occur or what the motivation may have been.

The man could have experienced a severe psychological disorder that caused him to do what he did. Shouldn't there be just a little compassion? There has not been any report indicating that any of three died a violent death. Given that those closest to him have always spoken highly of him as a person, shouldn't judgment be reserved when all the facts are known?

The first thing my wife said was she believed it was a mental illness. I don't know that the media would ever release that information even if they got a hold of his medical records so all we can do is speculate. If that was the case, then I feel sorry for the people who don't understand how devastating mental illness can be and the toll it can take on not only that person but their loved ones. No, not everyone with a mental illness kills their family, but there is generally a correlation between those who commit murder-suicide and mental illness. Think of it this way, all poodles are dogs but not all dogs are poodles.
So every time a human being commits an awful act, it's not really their fault and we should actually feel sorry for them because they're sick?

Come on man, who kills two people on two seperate days and then himself a day later...

Plus he turned down the belt according to this source... I doubt this had anything to do with mental illness.
Police confirmed this morning to ABC that this is in fact a double homicide /suicide investigation. Also revealed were the following gruesom...

          I'm sorry to hear that.

This is a topic for another day and certainly shouldn't be confused with this case, but I've learned that a great, great majority of people that suffer from a serious mental disorder were victims of a serious trauma in their life at one time. But we've become such an overmedicated society that we feel that the easiest and quickest solution is to pop a pill. No need to actually dive into what might be setting the person off.

Back on topic, my money says that Benoit's wife was going to leave him or she wasn't faithful. Benoit, who's body is saturated with steroids, flys into a rage and does the unthinkable.
But he sure was sane enough and could think clearly enough to know the easiest way out of this mess.

Smothering a 7-year old and strangling a woman aren't violent enough acts for you? There doesn't have to be a bloody mess for there to be violence.

Last night I was devastated and felt bad for him and his family. Today I am even more devastated and just feel bad for his son and wife.

So did you defend the Virginia Tech guy when he killed all those people? How about Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold? It's one thing to state that he has a mental illness just as a fact and move on, it's another to try to use a mental illness that no one knows that he has to try to "soften" what happened or defend him. You trying to talk down to people because they don't care about some mental illness he may or may not have had is ridiculous.

CNN just reported that his wife was strangled and his son smothered. Not sure if that classifies as "serenity" murders. I was under the assumption that all murders are violent.

You really don't know what people on here have or haven't gone through.

Oh,geez. This is gonna get coverage on Nancy Grace. Whoever said something about having compassion can forget about it now that Grace is gonna talk about it.

Someone who isn't mentally there. Does that sound like a normal murder? A crime of passion? A sudden burst of anger?

I haven't been following the "business" very closely these days but didn't they start testing for steroids? I know from watching that it doesn't seem many guys are much smaller (Randy Orton is WAY bigger) but I thought WWE was making a legit attempt to follow sports like Baseball into stopping the use of steroids? Was it more of a PR scheme? I'm sure someone knows better than I.

I really feel for the wrestlers and those that were really close to him, especially Chavo and Dean.

Anybody want to bet that if steroids are somehow connected to the murders, Congress might start investigating the WWE. We could see McMahon and Hulk playing the role of Selig and McGwire (when Congress held hearings about baseball and steroids).
