Now that the facts have come out, the Canadian Crippler is a complete scumbag. The only positive thing to come out of this tragedy is that Benoit is no longer alive to physically harm another human being.

There is no excuse for what he did.

I believe Benoit has another kid and now he/she is without a father. I tuned into Raw and heard HHH's comments about basically what a great guy Benoit was. A good/great person doesn't go out and brutally kill his wife and his 7 year old son.

This incident has completely changed my opinion of Chris Benoit.

So because one is depressed it is right to take the lives of others? When you become a murder it is more then depression.

James, I'm with you on this bro and I think that some people just don't understand how much depression can eat someone up to do things that they shouldn't be. Depression is like a drug imo, the longer you have it and the more that it doesn't get treated the worse that it gets. I've seen people with long term depression where they are quiet and don't say a word to people that because they are depressed they take **** out on others with no regard to whom is around.

I am assuming that the two of you have suffered from depression. If so, you two are the most informed people in this thread. If you haven't suffered through it, you have no right judging someone who has.

Sure there is depression. There is also severe depression that is much more dangerous. It's a big difference between feeling down for a little while, and clinical depression where you are constantly depressed. They are nowhere near the same thing. Attitudes like the ones expressed here are part of the reason that it is difficult to control.

I don't think there's a reason as to why the incident occurred.

Also, after he was destroying furnishings and got a restraining order and everything, how could he continue to go untreated or atleast be diagnosed with something? That's just ridiculous.

He did a horrible thing, and he was a horrible person. Just because he was a great wrestler and claimed to be a family man doesn't mean this is not true. Was he depressed when he committed adultery to get his wife in the first place? Depressed when he made threats and abused his wife?

Depression or mental illness isn't an excuse to commit evil acts. Those with serious issues deal with them. This culture demonizes Barry Bonds or Paris Hilton. You don't hear many people defend OJ Simpson and he was actually acquitted of his crime. Benoit did one of the worst things you can possibly do...kill his own child in cold blood. If you want people to have sympathy for him, I doubt that will happen.

I kinda agree but i have mixed feelings. I dont think you can just scoff at mental illness. At the same time i figure time will show that benoit wasnt the great guy everyone thought he was. Still as a fan its hard to swallow and hear all of this all at once and i understand any fans who may be in denial. Still i think its sad, and i do have sympathy for him if only for the torment that would have drove him to such a horrible act and the fate of his soul in the hereafter.

WOW... just wow at this whole thing. It will be interesting to see what the WWE looks like in the next few months. 2007 has been a rough year for them. ive read other places that steroids could be involved which means that the WWE could be looking at criminal or civil charges in this situation.
