    Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread

I remember reading that Eddie was almost relieved that he had lost the belt to JBL that summer. Something to do with the pressure he put on himself was so high that he was losing it? I'm not sure if I am remembering it correctly.

Who are these garbage gimmick, stuck in the 80s characters?

Bray Wyatt and the family, Rollins, Ambrose, Reigns, Cesaro, Cena (though he's booked like he's in the 80s), Orton, Punk when he was around, Ziggler, Miz/Sandow, Gold/Stardust, Lesnar, Sheamus (terrible booking, much better as a heel), AJ, Paige, Barrett, Bo Dallas and that's not even including anything in NXT.

Unless you just wanna point to the jobbers like Fandango, Rose, et al. (who are filling a very specific role on television, which isn't to be a main eventer.)

You couldn't be further from the truth with that "analysis." Complaining about booking is one thing, saying what you said is completely wrong.

You have all these dancing gimmicks, before it was mostly Brodus, then Tensai, then they even tried making Xavier Woods into that gimmick too, now it's Rose/Fandango(I like Roses character, but he's not like he was on NXT).

You have people in a bunny, gator, bull costume on TV,and even in matches?!

Los Matadores...bullfighters? How does that also not sound like something you'd have seen in the 80s/early 90s?

Rusev/Lana, the foreign heels who bash USA and talk about their own country as if it's the greatest thing on the planet(stuff that has been played out for decades in wrestling)

Most of the superstars on the current roster are basically just slightly exaggerated version of these peoples real life self. Wrestling used to be about these over the top, larger than life characters, which is exactly what attracted people to it for so many years, but that stuff doesn't exist as much anymore.

And I've been watching for many years, but the past few years I haven't seem WWE forcing the face/heel stuff on people as much now as I ever had in all my years of watching.

Don't get me wrong, the people on the roster today themselves are great/talented, but they have so little to work with because of how they're booked. No freedom, no chance to be creative or anything. When you have former greats in the industry praising the roster alot and talking about how much creative is restricting them and all,you know there's a problem in the higher ups.

I don't care how played out the gimmick is, Rusev gets by far the best heel heat out of any active wrestler on the roster. The only person that can get as much heat as him is Stephanie McMahon

and before that it was Shawn Michaels. and Disco Inferno. and I don't feel like listing more.

Oh no. We're missing out on our non-wrestling (bunny) and midget (bull) World Heavyweight contenders. Their careers are being so wasted on a part that has, and will always, had/have a place in the product. Comedy.

When he stops getting one of the biggest reactions every night, let us know.

Almost like how Stone Cold, The Rock, HHH, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart and many more were just slightly exaggerated versions of these peoples real life self. As opposed to the 80s.

Oh really? Is Bray a heel or a face? Randy? Cena? Ambrose? AJ? Paige?

You're just coming off super ignorant and bitching for the sake of bitching, while making zero sense.

Last night I watched that DX Confidential thing (well the last chunk of it) Where the heck was that taped at? It kinda looks like a college setting but i'm not sure. Anyways, I'm starting to really get turned off by Shawn Michaels and his "insight". This is the 2nd time i've seen him in a non wrestling capacity talking about his past and he's very vague about certain things and tends to avoid talking about the less savory side of his life. That being said, HOLY COW! Triple H is a very open and honest guy. He's certainly a lot different than his on screen persona and he knows how to use just enough of his real life persona in his stick work on RAW etc etc as well these days.

Trips was never as Nash with needing a verbal crutch "Well you knooow" but it's amazing to see how much Trips has evolved as a speaker whether it be on screen for WWE TV or in an honest non wrestling capacity. WWE should have Trips out there talking to the "real media" more often like they do with Steph. Anywho, I found the things he said on the DX program to be very insightful, interesting and refreshingly honest with very little BSing.

Again, it's seeing him in this light that makes me very interested to see what he does for the business once the torch is passed to him on the creative end.

I don't think Shawn has to get in to too much detail, as most of the IWC knows all about it. Over the years he's discussed a lot of his drug use and such through various outlets. The important thing is he moved past it, otherwise he'd be another dead wrestler.

If you enjoyed that, you should listen to Triple H on "Talk Is Jericho". Great interview and between the 2 shows they wind up talking for nearly 2 hours.

I don't think Shawn can even give that much insight on his past because he probably doesn't even remember a lot of it. Dude was so drugged up and in such a bad place at that time, that I'm sure there's a ton of **** he only knows about now, because of stories he's been told about what he was doing.

I'd also recommend his DVD, but obviously that's more of a life story than just him talking primarily about the wrestling business.

Watched the latest MNW episode on Goldberg and thought it was very good. Watching it kinda gave me the impression that WCW was more responsible for its own demise and that it could've kept competing with the WWF for a few more years.

I will say that my man's intro from being escorted from the back by Security, the chants, standing under the sparks for a few seconds and then coming out with the pyro going off...one of the best ever entrances of all time. That's up there with the glass shattering, the Bell and "IF YOU SMELLLLLLLL" for best entrances.

One random thought that is probably very disagreed with, but I think he's an underrated wrestler. Sure, when he first started, he was greener than goose ****. But I thought he turned into a decent wrestler. Not saying he was great. Not saying he was a technical savant. But I do think he doesn't get his due for becoming a serviceable wrestler. He was better than Luger. Better than Nash.
He was a great athlete, and with the right guy, could have a good match. The Halloween Havoc match with DDP was probably his best. He wasn't able to carry lesser talent to a good match, though, so that hurt him a bit in terms of who he could/couldn't work with.
