Watching the first episode now. Always funny to listen to Tony Schiavone try to sell that Nick Patrick "fast count" at Starrcade when the footage shows there was no fast count.

Raw after Breakdown was really good, one of best in months(and that's saying something)!

      In this Raw we have:
-Dissension in DX(Billy walks out on DX)

-Owen "injures" Severn with a piledriver (real similar to Austin situation, except they played this off like a legit injury with Owen not knowing what to do, and checking on Severn after)

-6 man four corners match (another match type I'd love to see back in WWE today. 2 legal superstars in the ring, 4 outside of it, you can tag anyone in, and it's elimination rules)

-Edge vs Christian/Gangrel feud starting up(Christians 1st appearance on Raw,2nd overall in WWE, still unnamed at this point)

-McMahon about to name a new WWF Champ except...AUSTIN COMES IN ON A ZAMBONI! So fitting this happens in Detroit at 'The Joe'. Then obviously Austin gets arrested too.

-Once Austin gets arrested, McMahon returns to the ring to tell Undertaker/Kane that they didn't hold up their end of the deal so he's not naming either as champ. This leads to Taker/Kane breaking McMahons leg(and we all know what that leads to next time). While everyones trying to help McMahon backstage, Mankind is just there with a collectors cup and a straw to offer McMahon lol.

-Chyna/Henry feud rolls on. Still months away from that infamous backstage segment.

-More promos for Steven Regal, "A real man's man"

-Goldust return teased during Venis/Terri moment

-In 3 on 2 handicap match, Rock pins Undertaker clean!

^Yes, all that in a single Raw! Not a Raw during WM or SS season, but rather, a Raw after a September PPV! What happened with The Rock? Don't notice anything different about him now vs even a month ago, but ever since Breakdown, fans cheering him like he's one of the top guys. This obviously after nothing but "Rocky sucks" chants for over a year.

Also...what am I watching? And how are so many fans actually in to it!?

So i'm on the March to WM 11 (the worst one ever IMO) and boy, I feel real bad for Bam Bam Bigelow. There was no way on earth he'd come out of the build and eventual match against LT without his credibility being shot all to hell. I'm surprised he even went through that BS for Vince and Co. but that's the business. If it wasn't for Heyman saving his *** by bringing him to ECW Bigelow would've just knocked around for a couple years after this and retired which in the long run might've been good for him.

Yeah, Bigelow made more money that day than he probably made in any other year of his career.

Good point, but I meant overall. The money is great but at what cost to his credibility? Y'know what I mean?

WWF was in the crapper at that time, so I don't think it really effected him all that much. As you said, he went to ECW and was a big part of a few major storylines. He was pushed in WCW.

I will say, the year before Bam Bam was in a mixed tag match with Luna vs Doink and Dink, so fighting LT in the main event was at least a step up from that.

I actually liked the LT vs Bam Bam angle. LT was an intense guy, and the story kind of worked. That match was obviously not the greatest tho. HBO did a doc on LT a few years back, and they really highlighted how much the NY media slammed LT foe getting involved with the WWF.

Can't believe how bad womens division really was in early parts of AE. At this point in time at least, it wasn't even a division. Jacqueline vs Sable for the re-activated Womens title. Except someone forgot to tell anyone that. They just randomly announced it on commentary on the very same Raw the match was happening, and didn't even have a title for the winner.

As bad as division was at this point in time, how was Chyna NOT the one to get the title?

And with it being September 98, you get so many MLB references. McGwire-Sosa race for HR crown. Every chair shot on TV, JR counts it like he's counting home runs. "Number 63!64!65!". McGwire/Bonds/Sosa I loved watching play, and I even remember reading in papers each day to see the counter on these guys totals back in 01(counting Bonds/Sosa and comparing it to McGwires mark in 98), but obviously now in hindsight, hate what they stood for. But funny watching these shows and hearing these MLB references.

I don’t think anyone back then watched the Women’s Division to get actual wrestling. It was being watched for “other” reasons.

At least for me it was.

                      Truth.

90% of the guys were watching it for "other" reasons and the way they were presented actually ENCOURAGED that so yeah....

Cornette ranting about how much he hated Sable and Vince forcing them to book her in every damn thing tells you all you need to know about the purpose of the women in the WWF at that time

2008 might as well be 100 years ago. This was pretty insane.
