Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
If there's one thing that's great about the network besides classic stuff, it's their docs. 24, Day Of, Untold, Timeline, now Icons. They do great jobs on these.Comment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
It never dawned on me as a kid that Yokozuna wasn't billed as from Japan. Obviously, it was my ignorance as a kid and lack of exposure to Japanese people/culture that I never picked up that Rodney was Polynesian/Samoan - American (and billed from Polynesia).

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
One thing about the documentary that surprised me was Rikishi saying he bought a house and couldn’t afford a heater so Yoko paid for it. He wasn’t a top of the card guy but I always imagined these larger than life characters made enough money that they’d be set for lifeComment

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
What's the schedule for the network in February?
I thought the Icons stuff would be a weekly series once the Yokozuna one came out, but I saw that the Beth Phoenix one comes out in March, which I'm guessing is the next episode. So do we really have to wait a month or so between episodes?
And maybe the Beth one ties into some sort of return? I'd love seeing Beth/Natalya win the womens tag titles.Comment

Yeah but at that time the headshrinkers probably weren’t making that much, especially when you consider dudes probably weren’t managing it well.

Re: WWE Network Discussion Thread
The Yokozuna doc was great. As someone said, it's basically like WWEs version of Dark Side of the Ring (except they have the rights to the footage). Speaking of which, it probably shouldnt be surprising anymore that they have so much behind the scenes footage, but was cool seeing the WM9 footage from before the show. Felt like 'The Day Of' or WWE24 type of video except its actual footage they had from over 25 years ago.
To think, he was only in WWE for 4 or so years, the final part of his career wasn't so good, but he'll be one of those more memorable guys.
Really didn't look like there was anything anyone could've done. WWE tried getting him help and he not only refused it, he went out of his way to sabotage it too. He was actually almost 700 pounds!? Its funny but also sad when they showed that clip with him and the forklift. People make jokes about someone being so big they need a forklift to pick them up, but he legitimately needed a forklift to be picked up. At the end in that British show, he honestly felt like Jabba The Hutt. It was forever ago when he died, but he would've only been in his mid 50s if he were around today, that's how young he was.
On the flip side, its nice seeing all those other stories about him. The Rikishi one and the Savio one about just how much he helped them on a life changing personal note was touching.
Although Hogan politicking his way into something is obviously not unheard of.Comment

Because how I interpreted it was that he wanted Yokozuna at the next PPV but then those higher up thought it would be a great idea to give Hogan the title before then, and as Bruce said, the international tour coming up and Hogan on his way out, they wanted him having one last big tour.

Hulk said it was his “hair brained” idea.
