What if Triple H had never married Stephanie? Would he have had as successful of a career?

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
Since he dropped the full Hunter name and persona, and bulked up (I know, it's all natural...), he was already pretty successful. So yeah I believe he'd be just as successful, and also as an aside, perhaps Chyna wouldn't have had the issues she had after their breakup.Comment

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
Not saying that you agree with it, but the "HHH screwed his way to the top" trope some of the IWC trots out is seriously the dumbest.
What if Evolution had never been formed? Would Orton or Batista been able to get over on their own?Comment

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
Yes, and that's an easy answer. HHH was always being groomed to be a main eventer, even survived being buried for the MSG incident, and won his first title prior to being w/ Stephanie.

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
He certainly wouldn't have become COO, but I think the on screen marriage angle is what really catapulted his career and made him a top guy. He probably would have had an even better career in terms of winning titles, because he'd probably have stayed active much longerComment

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
I'm assuming HHH would have made it to main event faster since he wouldn't have been buried. Too tired to think of all the ramifications but it probably would have effected The RockSaints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Austin wouldn't have won 96 KOTR, HHH would have. Austin may have never taken off.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
I think he still takes off, but we would have never gotten the Austin 3:16 promo. I think him attacking PIllman, and then his feud with Bret after he took time off after he lost the title to Michaels did a lot more to lift his career than winning the King of the RingComment

I am not sure that stuff would have come without winning KOTR 96 though. He essentially got HHH's push. Just a few weeks prior to KOTR he was still Ringmaster....yuck.I'm a Vince McMahon Guy!

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
I didn't read through this whole thread but one of the great "what ifs" of wrestling is "What if Iron Sheik had broken kayfabe and broke Hogan's leg rather than drop the belt to him at MSG?"
Now THAT would've had some long term repercussions.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: The Official "What If" Thread
I think the Blue Blazer gimmick would've been done away with pretty fast and he'd probably have a long and storied career. And we'd probably be seeing him at reunion shows even today.Comment
