Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
I hate that I never gave Tony Schiavone the credit he deserved back then. He seemed too polished and professional at the time, but now we see how easy he actual made that job look. Plenty of guys are just plain boring now. He was so great. Still is. All time underrated announcer.
They buried his entire WCW career simply because of 1 line. A line which he was TOLD TO SAY.
Before AEW, I never heard him commentate before. I always just associated him as some old wrestling guy and that's it. But he's been good on AEWComment

Unfortunately because of WWE, he probably never will.

The only time they ever mentioned his name when talking about WCW seemed to be that 1 line, as if it's solely because of him why so many people changed channels.Comment

One Half of our Golden Role Models is celebrating a 10 year anniversary. Sasha Banks made her pro wrestling debut for New England Championship Wrestling on August 8th, 2010 in a Tag Team Match. She went by the ring name Mercedes KV. She signed with WWE in June of 2012 and debuted on NXT in December of 2012. The rest is history.

I got the Sasha Banks one from Reddit but also saw this on Reddit too. 10 year mark for another superstar in WWE as well. The future Hound of Justice, Beast Slayer and Monday Night Messiah Seth Rollins signed with the WWE on August 8th, 2010. In 10 years, Rollins resume includes being the first NXT Champion, 6X Tag Champion, MITB Winner, first and only Wrestlemania Cash In, 2X WWE Champion, 2X Universal Champion, IC Champion, Royal Rumble Winner, only competitor to beat Brock Lesnar twice in the same year.

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
Summerslam 2019! Was the first major event to be held at this building since the Raptors won the NBA finals.
I remember how much fun that whole time was. Seeing diff parts of the city decked out in Summerslam posters, and even going to the Fan Axxess stuff was cool. Spent more than I was planning to at their Summerslam shop.
I'll still say it though, Toronto won't host a WM anytime soon. Royal Rumble at Rogers Centre however is definitely a real possibility imo. A domed building that isn't in southern USA that can seat around 50,000 people for a January PPV, it would be great.Comment

Re: On this day in professional wrestling history...
15 years ago today, the most important question in wrestling history was asked.
"Who's Your Daddy Montreal?"
The heat Shawn had in this segment, if Bret really would have showed up unannounced, that arena would imploded from within just from the crowd explosion the second Bret's music hit.Comment
