It's quite ironic how Bret's 1997's went where it started with him getting screwed out of winning the Royal Rumble. He got screwed out of the title on the go home show to Wrestlemania 13 on March 17th, 1997 where he finally snapped. Then his WWE career in 1997 ended by legit being screwed out of a title.

That was one of those shows that people will always remember. Lot of confused and uneasy people looking for something to take their mind off things, and find something to relate to. Doesn't seem that long ago.

That's probably his best promo ever.

It's a shame he didnt like the edgy nature WWE was heading towards, because he really would've been such a great part in that era.

Of all pictures they could use for WCW, its Scott Steiner vs Captain Reaction?

My excitement levels were through the roof when I first heard about this only for them to slowly decline once I realized what I thought I was going to see, wasn’t going to happen.

Without the main stars, I think even getting Bischoff to lead the WCW side would have added a ton more credence to it. Also, and I kNow they did this to an extent but having him convince most of the former WCW talent to defect back would have helped too. Same with Heyman and ECW. Having the actual leaders of those companies would have made them 1000 times more credible than Shan and Steph

I still think they should've ditched the WCW invasion and simply have done ECW vs WWF.

They had the entire ECW roster there, and while ECW was part of the invasion, they should've been THE focus.

                          RVD,Dreamer,Rhyno,Raven,???(Awesome,Richards,Storm ?)
                          Vs
                          Austin,Rock,Angle,Jericho,Big Show

                          Dudleys vs Taker/Kane

                          Jazz vs Trish/Lita

                          Among other things

Then once WWF wins at Survivor Series, Flair still comes in, announces he and Shane have teamed up to revive WCW.

So the WCW invasion still starts with names like Booker T, maybe get Jericho to defect, and eventually NWO comes in.

WM18 could've been the WCW vs WWF show.
WCW Champ Rock vs Hollywood Hogan
                          Austin vs Hall
                          HHH vs Nash
                          Angle vs WWF Champ Jericho
                          Taker vs WCW Owner Flair
IC Champ Edge vs Booker T

                          So much potential.

This is a different kind of "this day in history".

This isn't a post about the past, but an alternative present.

The picture isn't showing up but I imagine this is the Wrestlemania 37 logo that we would be watching right now from Los Angeles if the pandemic didn't hit. In an alternative universe this would be our main event tonight, to see who is the REAL Head Of The Table in the family:

Ya, WM37 in LA, Rock vs Reigns, blood vs blood.

Instead, I'm guessing it happens at WM39. Rocks final match, goes into the HOF the same year. 2 years notice surely is enough time to book themselves into his schedule.
