The funny backstory on that celebration is that Pat Patterson wasn't supposed to go to the ring, but he said he's going anyways and nobody stopped him.

That's why I love that picture of the roster holding up Sami Zayn, Pat's face is priceless.

I'm sure the talent have a big part to play in it, but I feel like one of the bigger reasons NXT hasn't felt the same in years is because we dont have guys like Patterson and especially Dusty there anymore.

You could tell those guys were having so much fun coaching the next generation of talent.

One of those things that really felt like it was the start of a new era in WWE. Punks pipebomb in the summer was the Austin 3:16 promo, and this would be the era it led in to.

I still remember when it was announced. I didnt check any official source first, I just saw one random tweet from someone talking about how he died, so I reported their tweet for misinformation, thinking it was some crazy wrestling fan spreading rumors.

Seconds later I went somewhere else and saw the official announcement. Still shocking to hear about.
