    AEW vs NXT Ratings War

I figured a thread dedicated to this might spark some interest in discussing not only the ratings but also a thread to compare the shows to each other since they are in a war with each other, despite what Chris Jericho or Triple H will tell you.

    Week 1 October 2nd, 2019:
    - AEW: 1.4 million
    - NXT: 891,000

    Week 2 October 9th, 2019:
    - AEW: 1.14 million
    - NXT: 790,000

Both trending downward as expected but there were also some big MLB games so I'm sure that factored in.

AEW is winning the ratings war so far. As far as show quality goes, it seems the general consensus was NXT had a better show Week 1 wrestling-wise but AEW won Week 2.

What do you guys think so far? I'm just not interested in NXT at the moment and honestly, the presentation is a big reason why. I always enjoy the Takeover shows but the combination of Mauro + Full Sail crowd is a major turnoff for me, so that's why I don't care for the weekly show.

Havent seen wrestling in years. Tuned in last night to AEW and was bored to tears. NXT was slightly better. Nobody stands out as larger than life or must see.

I'll be more interested in seeing the ratings come January. Right now we are still in the new club feel where everyone is hyped and excited for AEW. Should be interesting the AEW and NXT ratings next week competing with Game 4 of Astros/Yankees.

NXT (and WWE for that matter) aren't doing well in the ratings and I'm not sure it will improve.

        Week 1: 1.179 mil
        Week 2: 1.006 mil
        Week 3: 891,000
        Week 4: 790,000

That's a 33% decrease from Week 1 to Week 4. And with Smackdown dropping 25% of their viewers from Episode 1 to 2...not a good sign for them.

Curious to see how AEW does this week. Their card looks really good, hopefully baseball doesn't impact it too heavily.

TV is a cruel business. Thinking about what all these ratings could be like Jan is a little scary. I'm happy for everyone getting more major TV exposure, but there's a definite ratings ceiling for these shows.

Yeah and at the same time it blows my mind that Blue Bloods is still drawing in over 7 mil viewers at 10 PM on a Friday night, lol. WWE should bring in Tom Selleck for ratings

I think everyone has a dad/mom, or knows one, who watches those CBS shows religiously lol. It's like the last refuge of old television for people 45-50+.

I have enjoyed both shows from AEW and the first NXT show while the second was just okay. Kind of bored me. With that said, I will continue to watch both shows as after over 15 years, im getting back into watching it on a weekly consistent basis.

NXT should get better in January when they get out of full sail because watching the show every week in the same arena gets boring and the atmosphere isn't there. I do wish guys like Aliester Black, Ricochet, Andrade and others were still in NXT.

I'd be curious how many viewers RAW would get if it was streamed exclusively on the WWE Network one night. With cord cutting, and streaming just going to further expand away from traditional TV, it be interesting if RAW could do similar numbers streamed on the Network.

ratings talk really isn't interesting to me like at all. It's more interesting i guess what the ratings will be down the line. It's just exhausting from both sides.

AEW is doing good numbers but it's also the fresh product. That's to be expected. Seems like Fox has reasonable expectations as well. Just hope the shows are good which they have been.

As a one-off, it might be interesting to see how many subscribers they add. I wouldn't expect much because their best demo is 40-50+ on Monday nights, and those are the least likely cut the cord and/or stream.

Considering some of these TV deals are 5 years long, it is pretty crazy to follow ratings week to week this closely. Because there's always "what ifs" and "but what about next week?"

I need a life or something.

I'm bigger on live attendance numbers since that's historically what the wrestling business is built on.
If you ever attended a WWE live event (house shows and PPVs) which wrestler(s) did you buy a ticket to see? https://forms.gle/d5uh8iifDbfDBdDd8

                            Week 3:

                            - AEW: 1.014 million (down 11% from previous week)
                            - NXT: 712,000 (down 10% from previous week)

AEW got .44 to NXT's .20 in the 18-49 demo.

Yeah, I think we can officially put the nail in the coffin of this supposed new mainstream wrestling boom that certain people (*cough* Fox execs *cough*) were predicting lol.

Baseball playoffs, football, etc, aren't holding any of these shows back from doing huge numbers.
