If they could get that combined viewership up to 2M again that would great. But NXT hot shotted the **** out of that show.

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
I dunno why it's a negative that they brought Main Roster up to NXT... I thought it was competition? ... (not on here but I've seen that complaint alot) and anyways it was done for a perfectly reasonable angle.
Alot of people lied when they insisted they just wanted both shows to be great. for people that cover that stuff yeah fine care about but NXT has been amazing the last few weeks I really don't care about the demo as a fan of wrestling. I'm probably repeating myself on this topic lol.Last edited by BleacherBum2310; 11-22-2019, 03:08 AM.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
It's just a way for people who want AEW to "win" to knock on WWE getting higher ratings for a week. That's about it.Comment

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
To me I make distinction between AEW vs NXT and AEW vs WWE. I hope both AEW and NXT both do well because both rosters are full of talent that made there names on the indies and are now getting to show what they can do on a bigger stage without being meddled with/ruined. NXT putting on a great product has zero to do with WWE's image/problem of having a trash main roster product.Comment

Post Survivor Series Ratings for NXT vs AEW:
NXT won their second straight week over AEW following Survivor Series with 810,000 viewers compared to AEW's 663,000. Both shows saw a decline in viewership this week from the previous week as the Nov 20th shows did higher.
Nov 27th:
NXT: 810,000
AEW: 663,000
Nov 20th:
NXT 916,000
AEW: 893,000Comment

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
AEW still ahead in 18-49 somehow lol. WWE is all about that 50+ life. Both shows had a rough week. Smackdown's numbers were pretty brutal too, considering they were up against repeats. Maybe with family in town people were more in the closet pretending they don't watch wrestling lol.Comment

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
AEW is doing exactly what they said they'll do.
Only problem, people tune in for the compelling stories and characters and not as much the in ring action.
And it would help if they educated fans on who people are. Look at last week.
Excalibur: THEY'RE HERE! THE BUTCHER AND THE BLADE"
JR: Who are they?
Excalibur: THE BUTCHER AND THE BLADE!
Many fans at home: Who?
They gotta realize there's many fans out there who don't watch ROH,NJPW or other promotions like that. Most of the roster seems to just be hyped based on prior reputation, which means little to the fans who don't know much about those guys history.Last edited by Majingir; 12-02-2019, 08:54 PM.Comment

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
You could argue that AEW was founded on a flawed premise. The idea was the we were somehow headed to new boom period because live TV content was going to seem like more and more of a top commodity. We've seen with WWE's viewership in the past few months that that is not the case, for a variety of reasons. It's hard to see TNT viewing AEW as valuable enough to throw giant rights fees at, but who even knows. Being on TV by itself ain't what it used to be in terms of exposure and growth.Last edited by dubcity; 12-03-2019, 02:25 AM.Comment

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
AEW is trying to establish almost every single person on their roster because very few of them are ex-WWE stars that are instantly recognizable. Mainstream fans don't know these BTE guys or most of the roster. So while I think AEW is doing a good job of the slow burn and establishing so many different characters, it's somewhat risky given the short attention span our society has now.
At the same time, I don't think TNT is gonna shut down them anytime soon, so we will probably see the ratings stay around this level for awhile and if they do their job of building characters that people care about, people will tune in.
I consider myself somewhere between a casual and a smark because I'd rather tune-in for good stories then just a bunch of spots, which I think AEW relies on too much for some of their matches. I can appreciate a great work-rate but in my current stage of life, I don't go out of my way to watch matches for that purpose. So far from what I've watched, I'm interested in The Inner Circle, Cody, and Jon Moxley. The rest I'm pretty "meh" on. I have zero interest in their women's division. The tag teams are cool but again from what I've seen, there hasn't been a ton of storytelling in any of these tag matches, just a bunch of spots.Comment

Re: AEW vs NXT Ratings War
Have to think NXT wins again, probably by a wider margin. You can see it in how the shows are being booked. AEW doing slow build rivalries, and featuring their midcard guys/gals more. It's kind of bizarre seeing Kris Statlander winning a huge match on TNT. She's pretty awesome tho.Comment

Surprised to see such a huge jump from AEW. They only did like 660K or something last week, right?Comment
