    I was called upon again to face Trenton, this time in the top of the 7th inning with a man on third, two out and already 3 runs in as the Thunder took a 3-2 lead. I was able to strand the inherited runner on third by getting my first batter to ground out to third to stop the bleeding. The next inning, however, was a horror show as I allowed five hits and two runs but at least I kept the ball in the yard this time. You could have heard the laughter coming from the stands as I grabbed a weak grounder then wheeled and threw to third base. Unfortunately for me, nobody was on at the time. (I thought that the "o" was to have the throw go to first but it went to third instead). There went my only chance to get an assist and get my fielding average to 1.000. Trenton went on to win the game 5-3. My team is just not getting anything going offensively in the series.

      I was back at it again two days later as manager Mako Oliveras called upon me again. We are hosting the Akron Aeros and he brought me in to pitch in the top of the 9th with the score 4-1 Aeros. I was lucky enough to come in with no one on base and two outs. The reliever before me had just thrown 5.1 innings and I guess that he had run out of gas. I struck out my only hitter on 4 pitches and that was it for me as we couldn't tie the game in the bottom of the 9th.

        I'm certainly getting playing time coming out of the 'pen. I was brought in again to face the Aeros after only pitching 1/3 of an inning last night. I came in to start the 8th inning of a 2-2 ball game and promptly served up a gopher ball to the first hitter I faced. I ended up giving up only one other hit in my two innings of work but I was tagged with the loss because my team continues it's hitting struggles.

          It's my first road trip with the team as we headed for Erie, PA to take on the Seawolves. I am brought in in the bottom of the 6th inning with 1 on and 1 out. We are leading the game for a change with the score 4-0 when I came in. I was rocked so hard the manager must have felt sorry for me after he told me I wasn't going back out after my 7th inning horror show. Not only did I allow the runner that was on when I came in to score, but I gave up a few more hits the next inning and allowed Erie to tie the game 4-4. We were able to put up another run in the 8th and the closer came in and shut the door as I got a blown save and a vulture win, my first official win of my minor league career.

            After a day of rest, I'm called upon again to pitch against the Erie Seawolves. I'm called into the game in the bottom of the 7th inning with a man on first and no outs. For a change, I pitched pretty good as I went the last two innings only allowing a single. I did, however, uncork my first wild pitch of the season. I'm pretty sure that it won't be the last.

              Manager Mako Oliveras called me into his office last night and told me that due to an injury to one of our starters, I will be starting my first game here in Akron. It was short and anything but sweet as I allowed two runs for the first two innings before I got tatooed by the Aeros for 8 runs in the third inning. Maybe I shouldn't have asked him if I was ever going to start.

              After the game, Manager Oliveras told me that I will probably be in the rotation for a while even though my first start wasn't that good.

                After my scheduled four days rest, I am making my second start and first one at home as we are hosting the Trenton Thunder. Surprising all, even myself, Trenton had nothing but goose eggs for the first five innings before finally getting a couple of runs in the sixth. After surrendering two more runs in the seventh, I was pulled for a reliever. Hopefully a sign of good things to come.

                Manager Oliveras told me that we was going to bypass me on my next scheduled turn due to a scheduled off day.

                  Ricky Bones, our pitching coach here at Binghamton, took me aside and told me that since I had a new role, the higher ups wanted to give me a new set of goals.

                    It's a new month and there are now new challenges for me as I continue to be in the starting rotation. We are at home tonight as I take the hill to hurl against the New Britain Rock Cats. And rock me they did as I allowed 6 runs on 12 hits in the first four innings and did not go out to start the fifth. My gopher ball habit came back as I allowed a 2-run tater in the second inning to give New Britain the lead.

                        I am the #4 starter now in the rotation and before tonight's start at "The Circle" to take on the Redding Phillies, I was warned by manager Oliveras to get going on working on my goals.

                        I must have been too worried about what Mr. Oliveras said because I was pulled during the 4th inning without getting an out in the inning. I had just given up a monster shot off the big scoreboard behind the left field fence that bounced all the way to mid-center field. That was my sixth run given up and the eighth hit in just 3+ innings. I hope that my days aren't numbered here.

                          Thanks for stopping by and thanks, I think, for the vote of confidence, otherwise known as the kiss of death.

                          I think that these guys are masochists (sp) or something because my "agent" told me that they just sent a starter to Norfolk so I should be staying in the rotation for a while.

                          I'm wondering where the bats are? I'm getting very little run support.

                            I was told this morning by manager Oliveras that I was being moved back to the #5 spot in the rotation and he wanted me to take my next start tonight. They must be trying to challenge me because they are asking me to make back-to-back starts after facing these same Phillies last night.

                            I got into the fifth inning this time before being pulled with two outs after another rocket was bombed off the big scoreboard and it didn't stop rolling until it was between the center fielder and second base. I also unleashed my second wild pitch of the season, a 58-foot curveball that got by my catcher to the backstop and allowed a run to score. Maybe I might lead the Eastern League in that stat by the time the season ends.

                              What is Binghamton's record now? It must be pretty bad.

                              I like the realism, though. You didn't just come right in and dominate and shoot right up to the majors. Looks like you will have a tough road ahead, but that should make it fun!!!

                              I must say, that ERA is rather brutal!

                              I wish I had a way to get The Show because I would love to do a Road to the Show, but I don't have a PS2 or PS3 to play it on. It definitely looks like a lot of fun, even when struggling. Plus, you get through a ton of games quickly since you only play the part of the game you are in and only the games you are in if I am correct.

                              Good luck for the rest of the season Lynn! Let's try to get that ERA back in single-digits!!!
