Philadelphia, PA (AP) – The Arizona Diamondbacks are halfway to clinching the National League pennant after they won Game Two of the 2019 NLCS in Philadelphia on Saturday evening, besting the Phillies 5-2. Dallas Keuchel has recaptured the form that made him a Cy Young pitcher back in 2015. He was outstanding in Game Two, allowing two runs and scattering eight hits, while striking out six.

The DBacks grabbed the lead in the third inning, thanks to Dallas Keuchel’s bat. Nick Ahmed reached on a single to lead off the inning. Then, instead of bunting, Keuchel blooped a single to center. After Ketel Marte struck out, Ildemaro Vargas singled to center to score Ahmed and put Arizona up 1-0. Keuchel was thrown out at third on the play.

Arizona would blow the game open in the fifth. Alex Avila homered to right off of Jake Arrieta to open the inning. Nick Ahmed drew a walk, and Dallas Keuchel came through again with the bat, singling down the line in left and advancing on the throw to third, which was late. On the play, Nick Ahmed slid awkwardly into third and broke his leg. Ketel Marte would follow a lengthy delay with a double to left center to score Tim Locastro and Keuchel to make it 4-0. Eduardo Escobar would bounce into a fielder’s choice that allowed Marte to score on and the lead was 5-0.

X-Rays at the stadium proved Ahmed’s leg was broken and his season comes to an end. This could be a big blow for the DBacks.

Philadelphia would get one back in the bottom of the fifth as JT Realmuto singled home Maikel Franco, who had doubled in front of him.

In the seventh, Odubel Herrera homered off of Dallas Keuchel to lead off the inning. Franco and Realmuto both singled after that to end Keuchel’s night. He got help from the bullpen as Matt Koch came on to get out of the jam with the three run lead intact.

Archie Bradley worked a perfect ninth, striking out two to pick up his second save of the series and put Arizona in a great position with the series heading back to Arizona for the next three games.

Houston defeated Oakland 2-1 in Game One of the ALCS.

Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Philadelphia Phillies got a clutch pitching performance from Nick Pivetta on Monday evening as they were able to pull out a 4-2 victory at Chase Field to win their first game of the series and avoid an 0-3 hole. Pivetta tossed six innings, allowing two runs on three hits, striking out nine and walking one.

Philadelphia got a two-run home run from Bryce Harper in the first inning. It was his first home run of the post-season after leading all of baseball with 59 during the regular season.

Arizona would get on the board in the bottom of the third as Ketel Marte hit a solo home run down the right field line and just inside the foul pole.

The Phillies immediately answered in the top of the fourth with a two-out RBI single from Mikel Franco to increase the Phillies lead to 3-1.

In the sixth, Ketel Marte hit an absolute moon shot into the terrace in right centerfield. The solo home run was his second on the evening and estimated to travel 456 feet.

But that was all that Arizona could muster offensively, managing just four hits in the game. Andrew McCutchen would add a big insurance run in the top of the ninth, hitting a solo home run to left off of Andrew Chafin.

The DBacks tried to rally against Phillies closer Jose Alvarez. Eduardo Escobar doubled to right with one out, but he was stranded at third as David Peralta struck out to end the game, and allow Philadelphia to get back in the series, trailing now two games to one.

Felix Hernandez took the loss for Arizona, but he wasn’t horrible. He pitched six innings, allowing the three run son six hits. He struck out three.

Cesar Hernandez left the game in the first inning after stealing second. He slid in awkwardly and appeared to tweak hit right leg. He was able to leave under his own power but was taken out of the game for precautionary measures.

Tuesday evening will be a pivotal Game Four with Vince Velasquez (0-0, 0.00) taking the bump for the Phillies with Zack Godley (0-0, 11.57) taking the hill for Arizona.

I play every game. This is a carryover from MLB 19. Once I finish this season though I will likely start a new franchise with the TotalSim rosters that come out today. Probably another DBacks franchise. Thanks for following.

Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Philadelphia Phillies have tied the NLCS at two games apiece after a dominating 9-2 victory in Game Four at Chase Field on Tuesday evening. Bryce Harper is starting to heat up and that may be bad news for the DBacks. He went 2 for 5 with a double, home run and four RBIs to help the Phillies even up the series.

The Phillies jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third inning. Former DBack Phil Gosselin singled home Odubel Herrera to give Philadelphia a 1-0 lead. Bryce Harper then laced a double to left center, scoring Jean Segura and Gosselin to put Philly up by three. Ryan Hoskins capped off the inning with an RBI single to left to plate Harper as the Phillies went up 4-0.

In the fourth, Jean Segura lined a two-out, two-run single to center off of Zack Godley as the Phillies blew this one open, 6-0.

Godley has had a rough post-season after he was very good in the regular season. In this one, he went five innings, allowing the six runs on seven hits. He struck out three and walked one.

Vince Velasquez, on the other hand, was terrific. He pitched eight solid innings, allowing one run on just six base hits. He struck out six and walked only one.

In the ALCS, Chicago defeated Houston 4-0 in Game Three to win their first game of the series, trailing the Astros by two games to one.

Pivotal Game Five in this series will see Zach Eflin (0-0, 0.00) tossing for Philadelphia and Merrill Kelly (1-1, 5.14) on the bump for Arizona.

Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Arizona Diamondbacks found their bats in Game Five as they pounded out 13 hits in a 10-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies to move to within one game of the World Series. Ketel Marte led the way, going 3 for 5 with a home run and stolen base as Arizona will attempt to clinch the series on Friday night in Philadelphia.

Arizona wasted no time in this one, scoring four times in the bottom of the first inning off of Zach Eflin after the Phillies had taken a 1-0 lead in the top half. David Peralta provided the big blow with a three run home run to left field.

Ketel Marte hit a solo home run to right in the second, and Alex Avila homered to dead center in the third to make it 6-1. Avila is having a big post-season for Arizona, hitting .382 with three home runs and eight RBIs.

The DBacks would hit four home runs in the game as Adam Jones added a solo shot in the eighth inning.

Merrill Kelly (2-1) picked up the win, working a very solid 6 2/3 innings and allowing four runs on seven hits. Tyler Boyd worked the final 2 1/3 innings by sending down all seven men that he faced.

Zach Eflin (0-1) was not very good in this one. He pitched four innings, allowing six runs on eight hits as he threw 91 pitches. Jean Segura drove in three of the Phillies four runs, going 2 for 4 with a double.

Gave Six in Philadelphia on Friday night will featured Robbie Ray (1-0, 3.97) going up against Aaron Nola (1-1, 2.93) with the DBacks trying to return to the World Series for the first time since 2001.

Philadelphia, PA (AP) – Aaron Nola and the Philadelphia Phillies have forced a Game Seven in the NLCS after dominating the Diamondbacks 8-1 on Friday evening at Citizens Bank Park. Nola tossed a complete game, allowing one run on four hits. He struck out 11 and walked just one.

Rhys Hoskins helped out offensively, hitting two home runs, including a big three-run shot in the first inning off of Robbie Ray. An RBI single from Odubel Herrera and a two-run double from Maikel Franco blew this one open in the third as the Phillies went up 6-0.

Andrew McCutchen went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs scored for the Phillies. He is hitting .394 in the post-season.

Alex Avila hit a solo home run for Arizona’s only run. It was his third in the series and fourth this post-season.

Robbie Ray was knocked around, lasting only four innings and allowing the six runs on eight hits. He walked three and struck out only two.

Game Seven on Saturday night will feature Dallas Keuchel (2-0, 1.80) taking the hill for Arizona, and Jake Arrieta (0-1, 10.00) opposing him for the Phillies. In the ALCS, the White Sox will try to force a Game Seven also as they take on the Astros at Minute Maid Park.

                October 19, 2019
Philadelphia, PA (AP) – The Arizona Diamondbacks have stunned a lot of people in 2019 and Saturday night they won the National League Pennant, defeating the Philadelphia Phillies 6-4 in Game Seven of the NLCS to punch their ticket to the 2019 World Series. Ketel Marte hit a two-run home run in the top of the ninth that proved to be the game winner as Arizona returns to the World Series for the first time since 2001.

The Diamondbacks got on the board in the third inning as Ildemaro Vargas singled home Jazz Chisholm to give them a 1-0 lead on Jake Arrieta. Adam Jones then made it 2-0 in the fifth, hitting a solo home run to left.

Dallas Keuchel was outstanding, and has been all post-season. On Saturday night he picked up the win, pitching 7 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits. He struck out five and did not issue a walk.

In the top of the eighth, leading 2-0, Eduardo Escobar hit a two-run home run to dead center off of Pat Neshek, to put Arizona up 4-0 and it looked like this one was over.

But the Phillies had some fight left in them. Jean Segura and Phuil Gosselin hit RBI singles in the bottom of the eighth off of reliever Felix Hernandez. Tyler Boyd then came on with two on and struck out Bryce Harper to keep Arizona in front, 4-2.

Ketel Marte then hit a two-run home run in the ninth off of David Robertson to put Arizona up 6-2.

Archie Bradley came on in a non-save situation and things got dicey. Rhys Hoskins walked and Andrew McCutchen beat out a double play. Odubel Herrera then singled. Maikel Franco lined one to left that deflected off of the glove of David Peralta for a double, allowing McCutchen to score. JT Realmuto grounded out to second, allowing Herrera to score to cut the lead to 6-4. Scott Kingery then bounced out to short to end the game and send Arizona onto the World Series.

Ketel Marte went 3 for 5 with a home run and two RBIs. He hit four home runs in the NLCS.

The DBacks will take on the Chicago White Sox in the World Series as they stunned the Astros winning games six and seven in Houston to take the American League Pennant. The World Series will open in Chicago on Wednesday evening.

Chicago, IL (AP) – Tim Anderson was the hero of Game One of the 2019 World Series as he ended it with a walk off home run in the bottom of the tenth off of Archie Bradley as the Chicago White Sox defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-3. The White Sox rallied from a 3-0 deficit in the sixth to stun the DBacks and send the home folks home happy.

Arizona looked like they may blow the White Sox out early in this one, forcing Carlos Rodon to throw 31 pitches in the first inning as they score twice on a Ryon Healy two-out, two-run single. Carson Kelly then homered in the first pitch of the second inning to make it a three run game.

Felix Hernandez was in complete control for Arizona, allowing just one hit through the first five innings, but he ran in to some trouble in the sixth. Wellington Castillo singles and Tim Anderson walked. Hernandez would give way to Luke Weaver. Whit Merrifield singled to center to load the bases. After he got Leury Garcia to strike out, Jose Abreu hit a sacrifice fly to plate the White Sox first run.

In the eighth, with Weaver still in the ball game, Welington Castillo singled to open the inning. After Tim Anderson flew out, Whit Merrifield singled to left, and Tyler Lyons came on in relief of Weaver. Lyons then uncorked a wild pitch allowing both runners to advance. Leury Garcia would single back up the middle to score both runs as the White Sox tied the game at 3-3.

Neither team did anything in the ninth, and the DBacks went down in order in the tenth. Wellington Castillo flew out to open the bottom of the tenth, and then Tim Anderson hit a hanging curveball from Archie Bradley into the left field seats to end it.

Ketel Marte went 4 for 5 with two doubles in the loss for Arizona.

Aaron Bummer (2-0) picked up the win out of the Chicago bullpen, working three scoreless innings and striking out five.

Game Two is tomorrow evening with Zack Godley (0-1, 11.05) facing Aaron Sanchez (2-0, 1.80).

Chicago, IL (AP) – The Chicago White Sox are halfway to their fourth World Championship as they blew out the Arizona Diamondbacks 11-3 in Game Two of the 2019 World Series at Guaranteed Rate Field on the Southside. Jose Abreu led the charge, going 4 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs in the victory as the White Sox moved out to a 2-0 series lead.

Yonder Alonso got the party started early as he hit a grand slam off of Zack Godley in the bottom of the first inning and the White Sox were off and running. Daniel Palka added an RBI single in the second. Jose Abreu then ended Zack Godley’s night with one out in the fourth as he connected on a two-run home run to left to put the White Sox up 7-0.

Godley (0-2) was awful, again. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs on 10 hits. His post-season ERA has now ballooned to 13.50 and manager Torey Lovello said after the game that Godley likely made his last start this post-season.

Arizona did manage to get on the board in the sixth on back-to-back-to-back doubles from Ildemaro Vargas, Eduardo Escobar and Alex Avila, but it was too little, too late.

Aaron Sanchez (3-0) picked up the win for Chicago, pitching seven innings and allowing two runs on seven hits. He struck out three.

Leury Garcia had another nice night for the Sox, going 4 for 5 with a double and four runs scored.

Eduardo Escobar and Ildemaro Vargas combined for six of Arizona’s nine hits in the game. Jake Lamb went 0 for 3 and saw his post-season batting average drop to .167 after hitting .303 in the regular season. David Peralta is also struggling under the bright lights of the post-season, hitting just .175 after hitting .341 this season.

The series now shifts to the desert for Game Three on Saturday evening. Merrill Kelly (2-1, 5.67) is currently scheduled to start but Torey Lovullo said after the game that Robbie Ray (1-1, 6.46) will likely start. Chicago is scheduled to start Reynaldo Lopez (0-0, 1.37).

Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Chicago White Sox are on the verge of winning the World Series. On Saturday night they got a masterful pitching performance from Reynaldo Lopez who struck out 11 in tossing six scoreless innings, then scored six runs in the ninth off of the DBacks bullpen to win Game Three 7-1.

Lopez (1-0) got all the help that he would need in the first inning as Jose Abreu homered to left off of Robbie Ray to put Chicago up 1-0. Lopez pitched six shutout innings, but he struggled early on, loading the bases in both the first and second innings before getting Domingo Santana to strike out in the first and Eduardo Escobar to strike out in the second to end both threats. He would cruise from there, allowing just one hit over his final four innings of work.

Chicago used four relievers to close the game out, allowing just two hits over the final three innings.

In the ninth and leading just 1-0, Chicago blew this one open when Leury Garcia hit a bases-loaded three-run double off of Andrew Chafin to seal it as the White Sox went up 4-0. Luis Robert then hit a two-run home run to make it 6-0. Archie Bradley came on and gave up a solo home run to Tim Anderson to add insult to injury.

Arizona would get one back in the bottom half as Ketel Marte singled home Jazz Chisholm.

Lost in the defeat was a great pitching performance from Robbie Ray. He worked seven innings, allowing just one run on five hits. He struck out four and walked three.

Game Four is Sunday evening as the DBacks will try to avoid the sweep with Dallas Keuchel (3-0, 2.01) going up against Ivan Nova (1-1, 10.00).

Phoenix, AZ (AP) – The Chicago White Sox swept the Arizona Diamondbacks to win the 2019 World Series, finishing them off in Game Four with a 4-3 victory at Chase Field. Eloy Jiminez went 4 for 4 with a double and home run to key the victory as the White Sox won their fourth title in franchise history and first since 2008.

Jose Abreu got the White Sox off to a great start, doubling home Leury Garcia in the first inning to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. They would extend that lead to 3-0 in the second on the Eloy Jiminez two-run home run to left.

Arizona showed some heart in this one though, fighting all the way to the end. They would get two back in the bottom of the second as Adam Jones line a two-run single to left, scoring Ryon Healy and David Peralta. Ketel Marte then doubled to center, but Ildemaro Vargas flew out to left to end the threat.

The White Sox would extend their lead in the fourth on a Leury Garcia RBI single with two outs. That spelled the end of Dallas Keuchel’s night. Keuchel lasted 3 2/3 innings, allowing four run son nine hits. He had been (3-0) in the postseason with an ERA hovering around 2.00.

The DBacks would get one back in the bottom of the seventh. Jazz Chisholm doubled and reached third on a wild pitch. He would score on a Blake Swihart sacrifice fly. Ketel Marte then walked and Ildemaro Vargas reached on an error. Eduardo Escobar struck out, but both runners advanced on a wild pitch third strike. Pinch hitter Carson Kelly then struck out to end the inning.

Nate Jones came on to try and close the game out in the ninth. He gave up a lead off single to pinch hitter Jake Lamb. He got Ketel Marte to bounce into a 6-4-3 double play, and Ildemaro Vargas popped out to short to end the game.

Ivan Nova picked up the win, going six innings and allowing three runs on 10 hits.

The World Series MVP went to Nicky Delmonico of the White Sox. Not sure why though. He had one pinch hit appearance and singled in Game Two. The MVP should have gone to Jose Abreu, Leury Garcia or Tim Anderson. Probably another SDS glitch.

It was fun following. Too bad about the World Series. I'm curious why you decided to started fresh rather than export your save to MLB 2020?

I exported this one from 19, but I just like playing with players from this season. I know, it is odd. Thanks for following. I ended up going through the offseason to see how it was since I have never done that before in this series. I think that we made some good moves and were setup to win the NL West. Oh well, maybe I will come back to it at some point.

                                Thanks for checking in.
