I only wish. I have to say though I am okay with the guys he brought in and even though Graveman was pitching amazing this season, Castillo gives us a more long term option if Giles doesn't pan out..

However with what the Giants gave for Bryant and what the Yankees gave for Rizzo, I wish we could've gotten both and given them a chance to see what maybe playing in Seattle would be like long term. Evan White can't stay healthy and Seager is most likely gone at the end of the year so the M's really could've given them both long term deals plus rotated them in at DH as well with France spelling them in a field giving them a chance to keep their bats in the lineup every day.

      M'S SPLIT WITH A'S

After picking up a win over Houston to open June with a "W", Seattle traveled to Oakland for a 4 game series, splitting the series 2-2 to move to (28-27) and are still 11 games back of the (39-16)mA's for the AL West and are 5.5 games back of the 2nd place Angels (35-21).

      Game 1 (Lost 2-1)

Seattle opened the game taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning. Oakland tied it in the 2nd and then won it in the bottom of the 9th, as Kendall Graveman gave up the winning run.

Rumors have been going for weeks that Graveman was going to move to the bullpen after posting a ERA over .500 and a 3-5 record, but Graveman pitched well giving up just 1 run on 5 hits well striking out 9 in 8 2/3 IP before giving up the game winner dinger to M. Olson.

At the plate, Dexter Fowler got the only run across the plate with a leadoff HR in the first and was only 1 of 3 Mariners to record more then 1 hit on the day. (Y. Gurriel went 2/4 and T. France was 2/3).

      GAME 2 (LOST 4-1)

This time it was Oakland taking a 1-0 lead in the 1st and tacked on 3 mroe in the bottom of 6th to make it 4-0..

Justus Sheffield went 6 IP giving up all 4 runs on 10 hits well striking out 8 in the loss (3-4).

A Fletcher pitched the final 2 IP striking out 3.

At the Plate, Seattle managed just 5 hits on the day, with M. Haniger leading the way with a RBI Triple in the 7th for the M's only run of the game.

      GAME 3 (WON 6-5)

Seattle jumped out to a early 4-0 lead scoring 2 in the 1st and 2nd and extended the lead to 6-1 in the 8th, but the A's rallied to score 4 in the bottom of the 8th to make it a 1 run game..

Chris Flexen went 7 2/3 IP giving up all 5 runs on 9 hits and 3 walks well striking out 5 to improve to 5-3 on the year. Edwin Diaz pitched the 9th for his 12th save of the year striking out the side.

At the Plate, Seattle went deep 3 times with the long ball as Story, France and White all added HR's. France was named POG after finishing 3/4 on the day that also included a double.

      GAME 4 (WON 5-2)

The M's scored all 5 runs in the 2nd inning as Jared Kelenic goes deep with a 3 run HR and Shed Long Jr hit a 2 run double..

On the Mound, Justin Verlander went 7 IP giving up 2 runs on 5 hits well striking out 9. Edwin Diaz pitched the 9th for his 13th save of the season.

      UP NEXT

Seattle will start Inter league play with 8 of their next 11 games against NL teams, starting with a 3 game road trip to Arizona.

              M'S CONTINUE TO LOAD FARM!!

With Justin Verlander (38 yrs old) currently on a 2 year deal and Kendall Graveman (currently rumored to be traded) holding down 2 of the M's 3 spots in the starting rotation, reports are Logan Gilbert, Emberon Hancock and George Kirby will soon be making their MLB debut which means Darren McCaughan, Brandon Williamson will be bumping from AA to AAA to take their spots in the rotation in Tacoma.

So in the GM Ryan Sands added 3 arms on the 2022 MLB Draft including a pair of Lefties.

1st Round pick Matt Damon (68 Ovr/80 Pot) is a clone of former Mariner James Paxton, hailing from Canada.

3rd Round pick Greg Ramirez (71 Ovr (87 Pot) from Venezula is listed as a SP but with a 4 seam and 2 seam fastball clocked at 95 MPH + his future could be in the pen.

5th Round pick Bill Redmond (62 Ovr/72 Pot) is just 18 and will need some time in the minors but has the potential to be a backend starter.

Sands also added 20 yr old SS Edmundo Caballero (62 Ovr/78 Pot) in the 2nd Round as well a South Korean OF Won-Yong Kuo (61 Ovr/72 Pot) in the 6th Round. Both players have exceptional speed..

                GRAVEMAN HEADED TO HOUSTON!!

It's not very often Seattle has traded to a team within the AL West, but today it was announced that SP/RP Kendall Graveman is headed to the Houston Astro's.

Graveman a clubhouse favorite won 14 games for the M's in 2021, but reports are Graveman will headed the bullpen for the Astros with current CP R. Pressly in the last year of a 8.8 million dollar deal.

Seattle is also sending IF Luis Rivas who will get a chance to battle for the everyday SS spot in Houston after the Astro's let C. Correa walk this past off-season.

Rivas a key player acquired in the JP Crawford deal last year with Cincinnati had failed to grab a everyday job in Seattle and with Noveli Marte expected to take the backup role to Trevor Story, Rivas will now get a chance to try and win more PT elsewhere.

In return, Houston will send IF Abraham Torro to Seattle. Torro has 282 MLB AB's over 3 seasons with 6 HR and 30 RBI but owns a career .167 average. However Seattle believes with everyday opportunities as a utility player who can play 3B/2B/1B and OF, he could blossom into a very productive player.

It's been reported that Torro was a target even of former Mariner GM Jerry D. and could potentially win the starting 2B job with Ty France moving into a 3B/1B/DH role

                  M'S BATS COME ALIVE!!!

After being swept by the Yankee's, Seattle hosted San Diego for 2 games and extended their losing streak to 5 games as the brooms came out yet again as the M's fall (Game 1 5-4) and Game 2 (12-2).

However a trip south to Coors field would turn things around as the bats come alive with Seattle scoring 26 runs as they break out the brooms vs the Rockies.to get back to .500 baseball at (33-33).

                  Game 1 (Won 13-7)

                  At the Plate

Trevor Story knows the advantages of the thin air in Colorado as his bat comes alive in with a 3/3 performance including a solo HR well scoring 4 runs (he walked twice as well).

Mitch Hanger (3 run shot) and Kris Bryant (3 run shot) also went deep well Y. Gurriel added a 3 run bases clearing double.

                  On the Mound

SP Chris Flexen was hit hard giving up 4 runs on 9 hits in 5 2/3 IP but he still manages the "W" improving to 6-4 on the year.

Kohl Stewart was hit hard giving up a 2 run HR to Garcia in the 7th as he goes 2/3 IP.

Casey Sadler finished out the 7th and 8th striking out 3.

                  Game 2 (Won 3-1)

                  At the Plate

Story adds another HR (#14 on the year) well both Y. Gurriel and J. Kelenic each add a RBI

                  On the Mound

Justin Verlander pitched 6 IP giving up 1 run on 7 hits striking out 6 but factors into a no-decision as Kohl Stewart improves to 3-0 on the year pitching the 7th and 8th walking 3 and striking out 2.

Edwin Diaz pitched the 9th for his 15th save striking out 2.

                  Game 3 (Won 10-5)

                  At the Plate.

5 players went deep for the M's including A. Torro with his first Mariner HR.

Mitch Haniger was POY going 3/5 driving in 4 runs including one of the HR's.

Ty France added a 3 run HR well Kris Bryant and Catcher KJ Harrison also had solo bombs.

                  On the Mound

Marcos Gonzales improves to 6-2 as he goes 6 IP giving up 2 runs on 5 hits well striking out 5.

                  A. Fletcher tried to finish out the game but gave up 3 runs on 5 hits in 2 2/3 IP with S. Dominguez coming in to get the final out.

                  NEXT UP

Seattle will travel to Texas for a 2 game series with the Rangers before returning home to Seattle to finish out the month of June with a 7 game homestand (3 games vs KC and 4 games vs LAA).

I love Toro. I live in the area of Houston's AA team and I went to a game in 2019 and that season he was tearing up the league in RBIs before Houston promoted him.

SOLID player and I believe IRL he has five seasons of control left. GREAT pickup for Seattle IMHO. (Both IRL and in your franchise mode)

I am totally on Team Torro. Graveman was pitching well and did exactly what we needed him to do which was give us a quality trade piece. I know that he was a clubhouse guy, but Torro is a much better player for the future.

I had a hard time trading JP away but am a big fan of Story. I would love to see the M's sign Kris Bryant IRL to play 3B, maybe spell France/White at 1B could also DH and even play the OF if needed to keep his bat in the lineup.

SANDS STARTS OUT JULY WITH BIG TRADE!!

With the Mariners falling 1 game under .500 (37-38) going into July, GM Ryan Sands knew it was time to make some roster moves.

Sands earlier in the year acquired former top prospect OF Josh Lowe from Tampa Bay, but the Rays were calling and looking to get their guy back. They also needed a 3B and Sands needed to upgrade his bullpen.

So Sands went Lowe along with 3B Joe Dietrich who was hitting .310 with 7 HR's in AAA Tacoma as well as LHP Aaron Fletcher to the Rays in return for CP Diego Castillo.

Even though Castillo has past experience as the Closer he had lost his job to Nick Anderson who has 19 saves on the year for the Rays.

Castillo had gone 19 IP so far this season going 1-2 with 1 save and 6 holds well posting 4.74 ERA.

*Castillo took the 40 man roster spot and a spot in the Bullpen vacated by Fletcher.

Sands didn't stop there though. With Fletcher out of the Bullpen, that left only Nick Margevivus as the only lefty option, so Sands sent Domingo Tapia to AAA and signed 40 yr old veteran Oliver Perez.

Perez pitched the past 4 years in Cleveland including 2021 when he went 49 IP posting a 2.92 ERA well going 2-1 with 2 saves.

                                M'S DROP 2 OF 3 TO TIGERS!!

Seattle kicked off July play on the field dropping 2 of 3 games vs Detroit who entered the series (32-41).

The M's were shutout in Game 1, as the Tigers took a 2-0 lead in the 6th and then added 2 more runs in the 9th off newly acquired D. Castillo to win the game 4-0.

Marco Gonzales took the loss dropping to 6-4 on the year going 7 IP giving up 2 runs on 8 hits well striking out 7.

Castillo pitched the final 2 IP giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, as Tigers 2B J. Villar finished the day 4/5 with a HR and 2 RBI.

At the Plate the M's managed just 5 hits off Tiger SP Funkhouser who improved to 8-1 on the year going 9 IP striking out 7.

In Game 2, Detroit jumped out to a early 2-0 lead in the 1st and added 3 more before Seattle made it a 5-2 game in the bottom of the 4th, but that's where it would stay as the Detroit Bullpen goes 4 IP of scoreless relief.

Rookie Logan Gilbert dropped to 0-3 as he goes 5 IP giving up all 5 runs on 8 hits well striking out 3.

Kohl Stewart pitched well in relief going 4 IP giving up 2 hits and 4 walks well striking out 4.

At the Plate, Kris Bryant and Abraham Torro both went deep, it was Torro's 5th HR since joining the team.

Seattle avoided the brooms in Game 3, despite Detroit jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st. The M's would tie the game 2-2 in the bottom of the 6th and take the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the 8th.

Edwin Diaz came in and pitched a scoreless 9th for his 17th save of the year, well SP Justus Sheffield improved to 7-5 going 8 IP giving up 2 runs on 5 hits well striking out 9.

Jared Kelenic went 3/5 at the plate raising his avg to .251 on the year and he also stole his 22nd SB and now leads the MLB in that catagory.

**After the game, GM Ryan Sands made several roster moves, send IF/OF Shed Long JR, OF Dillon Thomas and OF Dexter Fowler to AAA Tacoma as he looks to shake up his bench.

Rejoining the M's will be IF/OF Dylan Moore, OF Taylor Trammel and IF Wilbis Santiago.

Both Moore and Santiago give the M's 2 Lefthanded options well Trammel is one of the fastest players on the team posting 17 SB's last season in 21 attempts.
