If someone just looked at the box score, one would think that this was a blowout from start to finish. That wasn't the case, however. Rhode Island started the game on a 17-0 run, and North Florida didn't score their first basket until right at 6 minutes into the game.
After that, the Ospreys caught fire. They played the final 14 minutes of the first half almost flawlessly, scoring 54 points compared to Rhode Island's 21.
Brent Wood scored 39 points in the game, which is just shy of his career high of 42 points that came against Florida Gulf Coast last season. He scored 19 in the first half, and added 20 in the 2nd.
Coach Matthews’ Minute
“Best 14 minutes of basketball you'll ever see. That's your NCAA scoring leader right there folks. Dude just lit it up on the Yams. The fact that Florida only dropped to #4 shows how good we are.”
