The first week of games yields three straight wins for Rizzo's Wildcats, albeit against sub-par competition. Either way, wins are wins and they will take them however they can get them. Starting point guard Chandler Rhoads led the way, averaging 13 points, three rebounds, four assists and one steal a game.
Unfortunately, the big men are hurting. Starting center Chris Matagrano and starting power forward Jerrod Finley are both suffering from patellar tendonitis. They will be able to play through it, but it will affect them for the next 1-2 weeks.

Coach AJ Rizzo hitting the recruiting trails early and often this year. He has two scholarships to his disposal and is looking to fill all of them. Who does Ryan Gregg see UNH targeting?

Athens, GA - The UNH Wildcats suffered a devastating injury tonight against the Georgia Bulldogs as starting small forward Ferg Myrick suffered a broken ankle and could miss up to two months. The sophomore was averaging 4.4 points and 4.6 rebounds a game before the injury. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by the 6'4" sophomore shooting guard DeAndray Buckley.
Also on the injury front, newcomer Jerrod Finley has healed from his patella tendonitis, but now has a dislocated finger on his shooting hand. He will continue to play, and start, but this injury is looking to last about another week.Comment

Nov 29, 2011 - COL at UNH TEAM 1ST 2ND SCORE Columbia (1-6) 33 20 53 New Hampshire (5-1) 35 28 63
Six games into the season, UNH is winning the games they should and were in it until halftime against Georgia, but the loss of Ferg Myrick really killed their offense in the 2nd half. A 5-1 start to the season is great considering they only won 10 games all last season. With the early recruiting period just days away, can Coach Rizzo lock up a prospect early?

Recruiting Roundup: Rizzo Signs His Targets
Coach Rizzo thought he had locked up his two top targets and expected immediate commitments from each of them on the opening night of the early recruiting period. When that day had come and gone, along with the next few, he worried that it would be a season-long battle for his prospects. But, in the final hours of the early recruiting period, he got back-to-back phone calls confirming that his scholarship offers had been signed and accepted.
The top target on Rizzo's recruiting board was Tommy Haywood. The 6'9" three-star center out of Meridan, CT brings a defensive stopper to the paint in Durham. Haywood will be expected to come off the bench next year behind Chris Matagrano and then assume the starting spot as a sophomore. That should be a welcomed transition as long as Haywood progresses as the coaching staff believes.
Haywood may be limited offensively when it comes to creating his own shot, but he is a physical specimen and plays above the rim. For a kid his size, he moves like a guard and has good handles for a post player. With some coaching, he could become a New Hampshire basketball legend.
The second signing was Junior College freshman Bernie Diame. The 6'6" small forward is a three-star prospect seems to be primed for a big role on this team next season. He was a great athlete coming out of high school, but a season at junior college really helped hone his basketball skills and is now a much more complete player. Being from Nashua, playing at the University of New Hampshire was a no-brainer for Diame.
Signing these two prospects early will allow Coach Rizzo to recruit high school juniors now and hopefully get a head start over the competition.

After the destruction of Army, New Hampshire got their commitments from Haywood and Diame in what seemed like a great stretch for the program. Then, a stretch of bad basketball cursed the Wildcats as they go on to lose three straight to Texas Pan-American, Northeastern and Farleigh Dickinson. That three game stretch will be one to forget in Durham.

Deuce, you never cease to amaze me! I was going to sleep last night and was literally thinking to myself "I need to start up that career legacy again". Sure enough, you already bumped this thread. I'm probably going to try to sim through the seasons faster as I want to advance through my career and go verrryyyy deep (30+ seasons). Not sure how many updates I will have per season. If I do the boxscores and tables like I have, the seasons may not go as fast as I would like. We'll see how it goes though.Comment
