Thunder make it 12 straight with 88-82 win over Magic

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Thunder pushed their win streak to 12 straight games behind 39 points from Kevin Durant.

Durant failed to record a third straight triple-double but still filled the stat sheet with 7 rebounds, assists and a block.

Eric Maynor had his best performance of the season, filling in for the injured Russell Westbrook, with 12 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.

The Magic took the lead into the half but a flat third quarter let the Thunder take a lead they would not relinquish.

Dwight Howard led Orlando with 20 points and 8 rebounds. Ryan Anderson scored 15 points hitting three of his five 3-point attempts.

The loss gives the Magic a 7-13 record through their first 20 games and leaves everyone to wonder how much longer Howard will be there.

Oklahoma City will have a day off before facing the visiting San Antonio Spurs, who handed the Thunder one their 5 losses 91-87 in San Antonio last month.

Spurs cool off red-hot Thunder with 91-80 victory

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The San Antonio Spurs continue have the Oklahoma City Thunder number.

Tony Parker scored 14 points and dished out 12 assists as the Spurs snapped two of OKC's win streaks.

Oklahoma City lost for the first in 12 games, it was also their first home loss of the season.

Manu Ginobili and Gary Parker led the Spurs in scoring with 16 points each, Tim Duncan added 13 points and 9 rebounds and Richard scored 10 to make it 5 Spurs players in double figures.

"They were just getting to the basket at will and making shots from the perimeter," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said. "That's a deadly dose of offensive basketball."

Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 30 points and Kendrick Perkins had a season high 18 points hitting all 7 of his shots and also nabbed 11 rebounds.

"We over-helped, and that wasn't the game plan. We talked about that: Stay at home," Brooks said. "The bottom line is we gave them the openings. "

Eric Maynor struggled against Parker and shot just 2 for 11.

"We're having trouble stopping the basketball," Brooks said. "When you play against a good team, when you make one mistake they capitalize on it. That's what a good team, an experienced team will do to you."

The Thunder will try to get back in the win column Sunday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves. They will then get a another shot at beating the Spurs on there home court.

Thunder win as Maynor records career high 14 assists

OKLAHOMA CITY -- For the Oklahoma City Thunder to succeed without Russell Westbrook, they needed Eric Maynor to step up his play, he did just that against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Maynor dished out a career high 14 assists as the Thunder got back on the winning side of things 77-71.

Many of Maynor's assists came thanks to Kevin Durant who scored 45 points and added 10 rebounds to the Thunder effort.

Oklahoma City has won 12 of its last 13 games and while this may have been the prettiest it was a win none the less.

Kendrick Perkins was the only other Thunder player to score in double figures with 10.

Minnesota was led by Michael Beasley and his 16 points. Luke Ridnour scored 14 and Kevin Love had 13 and 8 rebounds in the loss.

The Thunder struggled on offense early but stepped it up on the defensive end.

"With a team like ours, we're going to score baskets. We've just got to get stops when we need them," said coach Scott Brooks.

Oklahoma City heads out on the road for the next four games, starting with their San Antonio Spurs, who have beaten the Thunder twice this season.

Definitely following. May I ask why though Harden isn't getting a lot of minutes?

Harden has still been day-to-day with the lower back strain and I have forgotten to keep him on the injury list in the preview's. I was trying to bring him back slowly to avoid him re-injuring it. However, in the last game against Minnesota he twisted an ankle and is now day-to-day with that as well. Guess my plan didn't really work out to well, lol. I basically have swapped his minutes and Thabo's.

                Thanks for following

Thunder knock off Spurs 88-82 behind Durant's 34

SAN ANTONIO -- For the first time since November 2009 the Oklahoma City won a game against the San Antonio Spurs.

Kevin Durant tweeked a knee just 2 minutes into the game but it didn't appear to bother him. Once he returned he led the Thunder with 34 points as Oklahoma City beat the Spurs 88-82.

James Harden was the only member of the Thunder to score in double figures with 10 points.

Oklahoma City turned up the defense holding the Spurs to 12 second quarter points and they were never able to recover.

Manu Ginobili scored 27 points to lead the Spurs, Tim Duncan added 16 points. Tony Parker had a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists.

The Thunder will have a travel day as their road swing continues against the LeBron James Dwayne Wade and the Miami Heat.

Team effort sparks Thunder to 86-71 win over Heat

MIAMI -- Kevin Durant had one of his worst shooting half's of the season. The way the Thunder played defense, hardly anyone noticed.

Except the Miami Heat, that is.

Durant scored 26 his 32 points in the second half, after starting the game 2 for 11.

Eric Maynor added 19 and the Thunder gave Miami's offense fits on the way to a 86-71 victory over the Heat on Friday night.

"Our defense was as good as it could possibly play," Thunder coach Scott Brooks said.

James Harden scored 13 points off the bench for the Thunder, who have won three straight.

"One thing we've gotten better at is closing games out," Durant said.

LeBron James had 16 points and 8 rebounds, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh scored 13 points each for the Heat, who have struggled to a 13-12 record so far this season.

"We missed some pretty good chances," Bosh said.

Afterward, James and Wade both saluted what Oklahoma City did defensively.

"Tonight is not one of those games where you feel awful about how you played," James said.

"You know they are going to find ways to win games," Thunder center Kendrick Perkins said. "Come playoff time, they are still scary. Coming into this arena, knowing that you have to play those guys, is still scary."

The Thunder will have a two day break for the Christmas holiday and then finish up their road trip with back-to-back games against Minnesota and Milwaukee. Oklahoma City will their gift in the first game back as Russell Westbrook is expected to return to line-up after being out with a separated shoulder.

Kevin Durant scores 23 as Thunder keep Wolves at bay

MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder are primed to challenge for the Western Conference title this season, three years after the core of one of the most promising teams in the league was assembled.

Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves are a few years behind them, but hope to follow the same path.

Durant scored 23 points to lead the Thunder to a 90-88 victory over the Timberwolves on Monday night.

Russell Westbrook added 22 points in his first game back from a separated shoulder and James Harden scored 11 points for the Thunder.

"These are definitely games you got to be able to knuckle down, concentrate and get a win," Westbrook said.

Westbrook and Durant took their lumps in 2008-09, when they won just 23 games. Three years later, they're the ones giving them.

"We have a lot of guys that can get a basket: Russell, of course, James is really stepping it up scoring the ball," Durant said. "I think we feed off each other really well; it's not like guys are being selfish playing one-on-one basketball."

Michael Beasley had 19 points and Ricky Rubio had 12 points and five assists for the Timberwolves, who hung with one of the best teams in the league all game long.

"That's a team that's a contender and we took them down to the last minute. ... The best thing is we gave ourselves a chance and if we play like that the rest of the season and continue to get better we're going to win a lot of games," Kevin Love said.

Love had a chance to send the game into over time, but his 20 foot jumper rimed out as the final horn sounded.

"We played the best team in the West and lost by two points," Derrick Williams said. "We've got a lot to look forward to."

Oklahoma City will close out a four game road swing tomorrow night as they visit the Milwaukee Bucks.
