Jazz Knock Off NBA Champs In Season Opener

      October 30, 2013

      Salt Lake City -
Don't ask how, but the Jazz beat the defending world champions tonight. After being down 37 to 51 at halftime, the Jazz went on a tear in the second half, outscoring OKC 57 to 30. The Jazz shot 46% from the field to the Thunder's 37%, and 39% from deep, compared to OKC's awful 9% from three-point land.

Gordon Hayward had a strong showing against the reigning MVP Kevin Durant, as he finished with 15 points and 6 assists, as he shot 7-11 from the field. Durant, however, was seemingly OKC's only offense in the second half. Durant finished with 27 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Derrick Favors had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds, and he also recorded 2 blocks. Enes Kanter was just 2 rebounds away from a double-double himself, and he also recorded 2 blocks. Alec Burks only played 24 minutes while starting, but he finished well after starting out shooting 0-6.

Andrew Wiggins, the first overall pick for the Jazz this past summer, came off the bench to a standing ovation. Wiggins finished the game with an all-around solid performance, as he had 11 points, 7 boards, 3 assists, a steal, and a block.

The Jazz will take on Golden State in 2 days in Oakland.

Man, the Thunder can't contain the Jazz on opening night. Twice in a row that the Jazz have won.

          NBA: Indiana Pacers
          MLB: Cleveland Indians

Utah will be seeking its first road win in the season here in Oakland against the Warriors, who are without SF Andre Iguodala due to a sprained wrist. Alec Burks is once again in the starting lineup, meaning Andrew Wiggins will come off of the bench.

Jazz Roll Through Warriors, Kanter Drops 31

              November 1, 2014

              Oakland -
Utah improves to 2-0 after tonight's dominating win over the Warriors. Golden State just had no answer in stopping the Jazz offense, as Utah shot 55% from the field. Power forward Enes Kanter finished with a career-high 31 points, along with 7 rebounds and an assist.

Gordon Hayward finished with an all-around solid statline, as he went for 15 points, 6 boards, 7 assists, 2 steals, and a block. Derrick Favors had his 2nd double-double of the season with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists. Andrew Wiggins contributed with 15 points off the bench.

It was an all-around great team performance tonight from the Jazz, and they'll be back in Salt Lake City tomorrow night to take on the Spurs.

Looks like sticking with Kanter and Favors as your bigs might pay off. Good balance in your scoring attack too with 5 other guy's scoring double digits.

Having Harrison going 1/13 and scoring just 2 points sure helped in the win for you.

See, I knew it. Taking Wiggins was the right call.

Seriously, though, I was intrigued and a little surprised by your initial choice to put Wiggins on the bench as the 6th man, but you're clearly not playing him like a normal 6th man, either. That six-man rotation is just sick, and I hope your winning run continues.

Yeah, no kidding. Except last season ended up going waaaay downhill afterwards lol let's hope it's not a repeat.

Favors has definitely improved offensively already this season. I hit a jumper with him at the top of the key that would have potentially airballed last season. Kanter was beasting all game, too.

Yeah, I'm really trying to bring Wiggins along slowly. I don't want to throw him into the fire like I did last year with Trey, because Trey reaaaaally struggled at times last season. I'm hoping I can either ease Wiggins into the starting role this season or just have him start sporadically when I need him.

Getting the #1 overall pick in the draft helped lol. I think Russ Smith has actually been a nice backup PG for me. He averaged 8 assists last game in just 9 minutes, so I'm hoping he can be a bit of a steal.

3-0? Wow, good job. How's Lamar Odom playing for you? I know he's only played in one game but I thought I'd ask.

He's hitting the boards okay, but he can't make a shot to save his life.
