    COACH ROY WILLIAMS TO RETIRE?

Rumor is Coach Roy Williams is ready to hang them up at UNC. The Tar Heels are coming off one of their worst years in school history finishing in last place in the ACC (3-13) and going 11-18 Overall.

Reports are that the school already has their replacement picked out and will go outside the Tar Heel family tree for their next Head Coach. A source close to the situation has leaked the name Ryne "The Deuce" Derozan as that choice.

One would wonder why Coach Deuce would want to leave Oregon State after just 3 seasons especially with the fact he has 4 starters returning next season as well as 11 of his Top-12 players on his roster coming off the schools first ever Pac-10 title.

However reports are UNC has always been a dream destination for Coach Deuce and despite the current conditions at OSU, turning down UNC now could be to hard of a opportunity to pass up.

It could be, but when it comes to coaches retiring seems like the same ones don't always do it when it comes time for the season to end. But UNC would is definitely on the short list of schools that could pull me away. Thing is I don't think it would take much to rebuild them. Their starting unit this past season was 4 Soph's and a 5* AA Freshman, with every player rated 80 or better, so I don't think it would be as fun as one might think.

BEAVERS FALL SHORT IN TITLE GAME!

After winning the regular season title for the 1st time, the Oregon State Beavers fell short in collecting their 1st ever Pac-10 tournament title.

OSU opened up the tournament with a (82-78) victory over Arizona, led by R. Spears 19 pts 8 reb 4 assist POG performance. Spears was helped by R. Conroy (13 pts 10 reb) as well as W. Ray (15 pts 4 blks) and C. Gillingham (10 pts 6 reb).

In the Semi-Final round, it was OSU vs UW in a rematch of the Beavers last loss of the season just a week earlier. This time around Oregon State dominated the 1st half, almost taking a 20 point lead into the locker room (46-27).

Things wouldn't get any better for the Huskies in the 2nd half as Pac-10 POY C. Samuels continued to struggle with his shot (9 pts 3/21 FG 1/12 3PT) as the Beavers rolled into the Championship with a (90-61) win over UW

For OSU, it was FR A. Gerlach leading the team with 16 pts (4/8 3pt) but like Spears he got some nice help from W. Ray (14 pts) and C. Gillingham (13 pts 11 reb).

The Championship game would feature a matchup with #11 UCLA. The Bruins had defeated Cal (80-70) and USC (98-89) to earn their trip to the title game.

OSU would lead at the half (38-37), but manage just 26 points in the 2nd half as they matched their worst offensive outing of the year, losing the game (74-64)

          R. Spears had 20 pts (4/9 3pt) and 9 rebs in the loss, well SR PG B. Mills took home POG honors with 20 pts (4/4 3pt) 9 reb and 4 assists.

            SELECTION SUNDAY!!

Good evening and welcome to Selection Sunday. I am your host Greg Gumbel (GG) and joining me tonight in studio is Clark Kellog (CK), Seth Davis (SD) and Doug Gottleib (DG)

Tonight 65 teams dream's come true as they get their invite for a chance to win a NCAA National Title. Last year we watched #7 Cal led by a roster of 4 Senior starters beat the odds defeating 2-#2 seeds and a #1 seed on their way to a National Title, which leaves us to wonder who is this year's Golden Bears.

Before we get to some of the lower seeds who might participate in that Cinderella story, lets first look at this year's #1 Seeds.

Despite being ranked #4 in the Media Poll and #3 in the Coaches Poll, the Indiana Hoosiers are this year's #1 Overall seed in the East where they will play the winner of Mount St Mary's vs MD-Eastern Shore.

Joining them will be Duke (#2 in both polls), Vanderbilt (#3 Media/#4 Coaches) and Oregon State (#6 Media/#8 Coaches)

            GG-Guy's what's your take on the #1 seed's?

CK-Greg don't get me wrong all 4 of these team's are great and have resume's worthy of being top seeds in the tournament, but I am sorry I don't understand how the #1 team in the country in both the Media Poll and Coaches Poll doesn't get a #1 seed.

SD-I agree Clark, Maryland got the shaft as it looks like teams RPI was the #1 factor this year in the eyes of the committee. Had the Terps made it past the Semi-Finals of the ACC tourney maybe that would've changed their #2 seeding.

DG-Yeah Seth I get what you are saying, but if RPI was the deciding factor then why did Indiana get the East seed, as their RPI was #4. If that was the case then Oregon State should be there as they finished with the #1 RPI after going 13-2 this season against the Top-25.

GG-Well we know Maryland is a #2, let's take a look at who is joining them as UCLA,Alabama, and Boston College also are named #2's.

CK-To have a #1 seed and 2-#2 seeds out of the ACC just shows you how strong that conference is and why 8 teams got invites this year.

SD-Yeah in a down year for the Big East (4 teams), the ACC really stepped up, but so did the SEC (7) and the Pac-10 (6).

DG-It was a great year for the Pac-10. Not only did OSU grab a #1 seed but UCLA was able to get a #2 after beating the Beavers in the Pac-10 Title game. This is a great improvement after having only 3 teams make the tourney last season.

GG-Speaking of the Oregon State Beavers. This is the the 2nd time Coach Deuce has guided his team to a #1 seed. The last time was in 2011 when he took Northern Colorado to a Final 4. OSU is coming off a Elite 8 appearance last year, so what do you think of the Beavers chances at making a strong run in this year's tourney?

CK-It will be interesting to watch. They open up against #16 Belmont (16-15) who had to win the A-Sun tourney to grab that auto bid. I think they will cruise in Round 1, but a potential matchup with #9 Georgia Tech or #8 Clemson in Round 2 could end the Beavers chances at a Final 4 run.

SD-Yeah OSU lost only 6 games this year, so I am sure that (85-56) loss to Georgia Tech is still on Coach Deuce's mind.

DG-The committee sure made sure there would be so stories out West. Not only did they put Georgia Tech as a potential Round 2 matchup, but there is also the possibility of #12 N. Colorado in the Sweet 16 and a rematch with #7 Wisconsin in the Elite 8, before a potential rematch with #1 Indiana in the Final 4.

GG-Okay guy's well now that we know who the Top-8 seeds are let's take a look at the entire field.

            EAST

#1 Indiana vs (Play in winner)
#8 Tennessee vs #9 New Mexico
            #5 USC vs #12 Portland
            #4 Minnesota vs #13 Winthrop
            #6 Mississippi State vs #11 Texas A&M
            #3 Charlotte vs #14 UL-Calcutta
            #7 UTEP vs #10 Pitt
#2 Alabama vs #15 CS Northridge

GG-Guy's do you see any 1st round upset's here?

CK-I like TAMU, the Aggies made a strong run in the Big 12 tourney making it to the Semi-Finals and as one of the last 4 in, I think their coach will have them ready for the opening round game.

SD-Going into the season and at the Mid-Season point, alot of people were talking about UTEP (7 Seniors/4 starters) being this year's Cal,but I really like Pitt's chances of beating the Miners and ending their tournament early.

DG-Portland for the 2nd straight year has won the WCC tournament in order to make the tourney, but I have to be honest I give then zero chances at beat USC.

            GG-Okay guy's let's move out West..

            WEST

#1 Oregon State vs #16 Belmont
#8 Clemson vs #9 Georgia Tech
            #5 Oklahoma State vs #12 N. Colorado
#4 Florida State vs #13 Rider
#6 Kansas vs #11 Florida International
            #3 Florida vs #14 Columbia
            #7 Wisconsin vs #10 Marist
#2 Boston College vs #16 Western Carolina

CK- Well I said it earlier, I really like Oregon State's chances at a Final 4.

SD-For me it's great to see Kansas make the tournament this year. The Jayhawks had to settle for a NIT bid last year and after finishing 4th in the Big 12 with a very young team (6 SO's 3 FR) I wasn't sure they would make this year's field either.

DG-Don't over look Rider. The Broncos beat Marist in the Metro Title game to grab the Auto bid, but this team is for real. They have 3 very talented Seniors in their starting lineup (SG E. Hood-84, SF H. Ma-82, and PF P. Patton-77)

            GG-Okay guy's let's head down South.

            SOUTH

            #1 Vanderbilt vs #16 S. Illinois
#8 Arizona State vs #9 Arkansas
            #5 Texas vs #12 American
#4 Cincinnati vs #13 East Carolina
#6 Notre Dame vs #11 Miami FL
#3 West Virginia vs #14 Murray State
#7 Rhode Island vs #10 Oregon
#2 UCLA vs #15 Loyola IL

CK-The committee love's those conference matchup's in Round 2, with the potential of Vandy vs Arkansas, W. Virginia vs Notre Dame and UCLA vs Oregon.

SD-I don't know Clark, Arizona State handed Oregon State 2 of their 6 loss's this year and I believe the Sun Devils have the talent to beat #1 Vandy. ASU might not have as many Seniors (4) as Cal did but 3 of them are starters and SF D. Moran (89) will be a top pick in this year's draft.

DG-I just talked to West Virginia HC James Frizzell and he told me of all the team's in this regional he is most worried about it's #10 Oregon. WVU lost to Cal as a #1 seed last year and Coach Frizell believes the Ducks could be his potential Sweet 16 matchup.

GG-Okay guy's well we are down to our final 16 teams. Let's take a look at the Midwest.

            MIDWEST

            #1 Duke vs #16 Stephen F Austin
            #8 Oklahoma vs #9 Colorado
            #5 Washington vs #12 Delaware
            #4 NC State vs #13 Boston U
            #6 UNLV vs #11 Duquesne
#3 Northwestern vs #14 Fresno State
            #7 E. Michigan vs #10 South Carolina
            #2 Maryland vs #15 Southern

CK-I would love to see #1 Duke vs #2 Maryland in the Elite 8. I think that's a matchup that could be better then the title game itself.

SD-I don't know Clark, Duke will have to potentially get by NC State in the Sweet 16 first but either way I could see 2 ACC teams' battling it out for a spot in the Final 4.

DG-Call me crazy but I really like Northwestern. Until last season the Wildcats had never made it to the NCAA tournament, and now they have made it back to back years and even though they are a #3 seed, I look at them as this year's Golden Bears. They have 6 Seniors (4 starters) and 4 Juniors (1 starter).

GG-Okay well now that we know who the Field of 65 is let's take a look at this year's N.I.T.

            Louisville vs Samford
            G. Washington vs Ole Miss
            TXAM-CC vs Virginia
            Gardner-Webb vs Towson
            UW-Green Bay vs Monmouth
            Drexel vs Missouri State
            Northeastern vs UConn
            Wofford vs Kent State

            Iowa State vs Pacific
            UMBC vs New Mexico State
            Arkansas State vs Providence
            Santa Clara vs Houston
            Xavier vs CSU Bakersfield
            Wake Forest vs Seton Hall
            BYU vs Michigan State
            Bethune-Cookman vs James Madison

CK-Wow with schools like UConn, Louisville, Michigan State and Providence that could be a NCAA Final 4 in most year's.

SD-This year's NIT features 12 teams who won their regular season conference titles only to miss out on grabbing what matters most in that auto matic bid to the NCAA tournament. Makes you wonder what is going through those Coaches and teams mind's right now.

DG-Providence just missed out on a NCAA National Title last year losing to Cal. They have 3 Seniors including PF E. Porter (87) who would like nothing more then finishing their career with at least a NIT title in their college career.

GG-Okay well there it is, your Field of 65 as well as the NIT Field of 32. Get your picks in and let's see whose brackets get busted or see who can pick this year's National Champs.

Hope you can make a run in the tournament with the #1 seed! I also just realized how similar my dynasty is to yours lol -- both started out at northern colorado then moved on to a team in oregon.

But anyways that UNC opening will be a tough decision, its always hard to turn down those offers in this game. I personally think you should leave and get UNC back on its feet... Keep up the good work

                    1ST ROUND RECAP

Welcome to the March Madness Studio. Round 1 has come to a end and boy have we been treated to some fantastic basketball. First in the East Regional we saw #10 Pitt upset #7 UTEP (71-54) just as Seth Davis predicted during the Selection Show and #11 TAMU also won big beating #6 Miss State (82-61) just as Clark Kellogg predicted as well. Hopefully you got those 2 games right.

Out West, #1 Oregon State cruised in their opener vs #16 Belmont (97-68), as the Beavers got a career high 15 points from FR C. Popoola (4/4 3pt) as well as double digits from W. Ray (17 pts 7 reb), R. Conroy (17 pts 6 reb) and C. Gillingham (16 pts 6 reb).

We watched #5 Oklahoma State pull off the buzzer beater vs #12 N. Colorado (65-64) ending the Bears hopes for a trip back to the Final 4.

#6 Kansas also survived the upset as they held on to beat #11 FIU (86-82), well #8 Clemson beat #9 Georgia Tech (91-87).

Coach Deuce and the Beavers must be sighing some relief right now as they won't have to face the Yellowjackets in a remtach game.

#2 Boston College dominated #15 W. Carolina (103-66), but the game that has everyone talking was #13 Rider upsetting #4 FSU (63-60) as the Broncos came back in the 2nd half. I believe Doug Gottlieb called this upset in the selection show.

In the South, #8 ASU beat #9 Arkansas (81-79) and will advance to face #1 Vanderbilt who beat #16 S. Illinois (87-76), #5 Texas and #4 Cincinnati both move on in double digit wins.

#11 Miami FL upset #6 Notre Dame (72-56) in a came that nobody in America picked right upset the chance for a perfect bracket in a million plus entries.

Also #10 Oregon dominated #7 Rhode Island (106-82) as they will move on to face #2 UCLA in Round 2, for a nice Pac-10 rivalry.

In the Midwest, #1 Duke cruised in Round 1 beating #16 Stephen F Austin (89-43). They will face #9 Colorado who beat #8 Oklahoma (91-70) in the Big 12 challenge game.

#5 Washington won big beating #12 Delware (84-50), well #4 NC State cruised to a 20 point win over #13 Boston U (73-53).

#6 UNLV and #3 Northwestern both are moving on. The Wildcats scored 116 points which was record for Round 1 as they beat #14 Fresno State (116-89). SR S. Torbert scored a career high 44 points well fellow SR J. Tobias added 28.

#7 EMU moves on as they beat #10 South Carolina (76-71) and #2 Maryland hits the century mark beating #15 Southern (110-34). Wow 34 points. Yeah that was 17 in each half. Not sure what happend to the Jag's they normally averaged 73 PPG during the season.

Well stay tune for results for Round 2. As we keep you update on the happenings from around the nation.

                      2ND ROUND RECAP

Good evening and welcome to the 2nd Round Recap Show. After some exciting 1st Round action, Round 2 offered us some even bigger upsets and some great Cinderella stories..

Starting out East we watched #8 Tennessee take down #1 Indiana (89-84) after building up a 9 point lead in the 1st half (56-47) Both teams combined to shoot 23/53 from downtown.

#2 Alabama continued their offensive fireworks display as they score 100 points for the 2nd straight game beating #10 Pitt (100-69). Like the #1/#8 game, the Tide were crazy hot from the outside hitting 11/22 from beyond the arc.

#11 Texas A&M also refused to leave the dance floor, as they took out #3 Charlotte (66-59), well #4 Minnesota advances beating #5 USC (81-71). This marks the first time the Golden Gophers have advanced to the Sweet 16 since 1997 when they made a Final 4 run before losing to Kentucky in OT.

Out West, #1 Oregon State made a huge 2nd half comeback (trailed 45-33) scoring 53 points in the 2nd half to beat #8 Clemson to advance to the Sweet 16 for the 2nd straight year. The Beavers got a career high 24 points from walkon JR Sidney Chavez, well starters R. Spears and W. Ray each scored 12 points.

                      Coach Deuce
"After watching Sidney give us his heart and soul in that performance, I have decided I am using one of our current available scholarships on him next season for his final year with us. It will only leave us the ability to use 1 scholarship this season but I feel like it's something he deserves. He gives us 100% everytime he takes the floor"
Right after the Beavers win, they also learned that #13 Rider had pulled off the upset yet again as they beat #6 Oklahoma State (81-55) behind 26 points from 6'8 SR P. Patton. Previously the Broncos had never made it out of the 1st Round since become a Division 1 school with their last NCAA appearance being in 1994.

                        SWEET 16 RECAP

Good evening and welcome to the Sweet 16 Recap show. It's been another great year of March Madness. After some great games and compelling stories in the first 2 Rounds, the Sweet 16 continued to live up to the hype.

#8 Tennessee continues their string of upset wins defeating #4 Minnesota (87-80) to set up a SEC showdown in the East Regional as they will take on #2 Alabama who defeated #11 TAMU (78-53)

Out West, #6 Kansas came from behind (down 43-38 at the half) to defeat #7 Wisconsin, as they will advance to face #1 Oregon State who will be making their 2nd straight trip to the Elite 8.

The Beavers ended #13 Rider's Cinderella story with a (79-68) victory, as JR SG R. Spears scores 18 pts (2/5 3pt) and W. Ray (11 pts 10 reb 3 blks) lead the way. OSU also got 16 points (5/6 3pt) from E. Taft who continues to thrive off the bench.

Down South, #4 Cincinnati survives the upset as they hold on to beat #8 Arizona State (61-58) as they held the Sun Devils to just 17 points in the 2nd half to comeback from trailing (41-32) at the half.

                        Coach Deuce
"I am not going to lie, well I think it would've been great for the Pac-10 conference to have ASU move on, having them out of the tournament doesn't hurt my feelings whatsoever"
Another game result that made huge headlines was that of #3 West Virginia vs #10 Oregon. We learned that the entire OSU roster including Coach Deuce flew out and were in the stands supporting the Mountainers as they defeated the Ducks (81-68) ending the Ducks dreams off a National title matchup with their hated rival.

                        Coach Deuce
"So besides the fact I have a strong dislike for the Ducks, this game wasn't all about them. I also wanted to show my support for a good friend Coach Frizzell and his quest for a possible Final 4 and NC matchup with us"
In the Midwest, we saw another #1 take the fall, as Duke falls to #5 Washington (73-71) blowing a (41-34) 1st half lead. Washington once again was led by C. Samuels who scored 24 pts in the win despite just 3/11 from downtown. J. Ross-Williams also had a solid game with 15 pts and 11 reb.

Washington will face a tough challenge in making the Final 4 thought as #2 Maryland defeats #3 Northwestern (95-89).

The Terps who many felt should've been a #1 seed are now averaging 102 points per game in the first 3 games of the tournament.

                              ELITE 8 RECAP

Good Evening and welcome to the Elite 8 Recap Show. History was made this week for one school, as #1 Oregon State defeats #6 Kansas (76-69) to advance to the school's first ever Final 4.

Tied 38-38 at the half, the Beavers used timely shooting and ball control to give them a 4 point lead with less then 5 minutes to play, and then left it up to the basektball god's to control their destiny.

Having Kansas hit just 8/32 from 3pt including missing their last 4 attempts was obviously key to the victory tonight. With the starting unit just 2/12 from downtown the Jayhawks turned to 3* SO PG S. Griffith their 12th man off the bench to give them a jolt. Griffith would respond by hitting 3/5 from downtown to lead the team in scoring (11 pts) but it just wasn't enough.

                              R. Spears led the way scoring 15 pts including a perfect 8/8 from the F.T. line. Spears also led the team in steals with 4.

                              W. Ray added 13 pts well E. Taft added 13 off the bench hitting 3/6 from 3pt.

                              Coach Deuce
"I am super stoked for this team. I lead NC to a Final 4, 3 years ago before coming here and I know there are alot of rumors about job offers coming my way, but I am going to tell you something right now. I am not leaving OSU with a National Title sitting in the trophy case, and that's a promise"
So who is standing in Coach Deuce and the Beavers quest for a National Title appearence?

Well none other then #2 Alabama. The Tide defeated #8 Tennessee (78-53) to win the East Regional, behind a balanced offensive attack that saw 4 starters hit double digits led by 6'6 SO SG A. Chancier (15 pts 2/9 3pt).

On the other side of the bracket waiting for them will the winner of #4 Cincinnati vs #2 Maryland.

The Bearkats won their Big East showdown with #3 West Virginia (91-85) after building a 10 point 1st half lead (55-45). 7'0 SR C Claude Agbai led the way 35 pts , well SR PG C. Shiloh had 25 pts (5/10 3pt) in the loss for WVU.

For the 2nd straight game Maryland was held to less then 100, but not by much as the Terps took out #5 Washington (92-86). Trailing (55-49) at the half the Terps got a season high 17 points off the bench from JR PG K. Snowden (2/6 3pt).

In the loss UW's SR PG C. Samuels scored 27 points but was just 2/9 from downtown. (not sure why he has struggled so much he has a 94 3pt rating and is a career 39% shooter).

                                FINAL 4 RECAP

If you love offensive basketball then chances are you will love this National Championship matchup.

#1 Oregon State behind a season high 112 points have defeated #2 Alabama to earn a spot in the title bout, beating the Tide (112-91).

OSU would score 66 points in the 1st half along with was more then they scored the entire game in the Pac-10 tournament championship game vs UCLA. as they took the 20 point lead into the locker room (66-46).

That 20 point lead proved to be to much for Alabama to overcome as they hit just 4/15 from downtown, compared to the Beavers hitting 10/19 including 8/11 in the 1st half.

7'0 JR Wallace Ray took home POG honors as the bigman scores a career/season high 31 pts including 15/19 from the charity stripe.

                                R. Spears (2/3 3pt) C. Gillingham (1/1 3pt) and E. Taft (2/4 3pt) all scored 13 pts, well A. Gerlach added 9 pts all coming from downtown (3/4 3pt).

                                Coach Deuce
"I couldn't be more proud of these guy's. Our offensive was just clicking tonight as the guy's outside hit big shots forcing them to leave Ray 1 on 1 inside where the just dominated. Now the only question is did we put up to many and will we have enough left in the tank to finish our quest for a title"
Waiting for the Beavers in the Championship is none other then the #1 team in the country the #2 Maryland Terps. For the 5th straight game since entering the tournament the Terps score 90+ as they dominate #4 Cincy (91-60). For the tournament Maryland is now averaging 97.6 PPG.

                                Coach Deuce
"The Terps are good and they are deep. They play 12 and not a single player was rated less then a 4* recruit coming out of high school. They have 4 guy's averaging double digits led by 6'7 SR A. Olsen (19.8 PPG) and have a very talented 7'0 bigman on their bench. (SR S. McFarlin-84 Overall) as well as 5* AA Mr BB IN JR K. Snowden (89 Overall) as their 6th man"
As a 97 Overall Maryland is the best team all season. Their best player is SR PG M. Goodwin (90 OVR), their worst starter is 6'10 SR PF A. Matera (87 OVR) and their worst player on their team is 6'7 FR SF N. Holden who is a 79 Overall but has a 81 3PT Rating.
