OREGON STATE IS CROWNED NATIONAL CHAMP!

Coach Ryne "The Deuce' Derozan has finally done it. In just his 8th year as a Head Coach and 3rd at Oregon State, Coach Deuce has guided the Beavers to the schools first ever National Title (another attribute point). With the victory, OSU ended at 34-6 Overall tying Coach Deuce's win record of 34 well at N.C. in the 2011-2012 season. The win also improves his record to 198-69 leaving him just 2 shy of 200 (next attribute point)

Here is a recap of the historic game..

Leading by just 2 points at the half (44-42), OSU would get shoot lights out from beyond the arc in the 2nd half hitting 7/13 from downtown after shooting just 3/9 in the 1st half. With 21 points coming from beyond the arc and another 19 coming from the F.T. line, OSU would score 53 points in the 2nd half as they came up just 3 point shy of the century mark in a almost 20 point victory. FINAL SCORE 0SU-97 MARYLAND-79

            Coach Deuce
"For us to hold the Terps to just 79 points was a feat in itself. I knew coming in we needed to limit their 3pt looks and we did a great job holding them to just 5/18. I wasn't happy with them getting 26/32 from the F.T. line, but in the end it didn't matter as Taft and company just started lighting it up from downtown"
JR SG Eugene Taft (1/4 in the 1st) connected on 3/3 3pt in the 2nd half as he scored a team high 24 points to be named game MVP. Fellow JR PG/SG R. Spears chipped in 20 pts hitting as hit's 8/12 from the charity stripe and 2/5 from 3pt.

SR C. Gillingham playing in his last game in a Beaver uniform also had a solid night as he scores 11 pts well grabbing a team high 8 rebs and dishing out 8 assists.

            Coach Deuce
"I am proud of Gilly and the effort he has given the program the past 3 seasons for us. We have never had a player post a triple double in a game for us, and the team really wanted to try and see Gilly accomplish it. We came close but a couple wrong bounces and missed shots left him just a tad short"

With a National Title on his resume and just 2 wins shy of 200 in just 8 seasons, Coach Deuce is now the hottest name on the Coaching Carousel.

Will Coach Deuce get a offer from UNC, or will a different power program looking to rebuild come calling (DePaul, Georgia, Virginia Tech). Would Coach Deuce be interested in replacing Bo Ryan at Wisconsin who announced his retirement after the Badgers loss to Kansas in the Elite 8? Or will "The Deuce" return to OSU looking for a chance to repeat with the Beavers who return 4 starters, 8 active players from this year's squad plus 3 Redshirt Freshman and 1 very talented incoming Freshman.

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)

Thank you to all those following along and posting comments. It's nice to know people are enjoying the read. Well I enjoy writing posts as well as playing the game, it just wouldn't be the same if no one was following/commenting and I am not sure I even know how to play a sports game (legacy/dynasty) anymore without sharing my lows and my success.

Winning a title with this squad was something I felt like could happen this year and when Maryland failed to make their 3's I felt pretty good about our chances at winning the game, and even more so when Taft started hitting his.

I have had 1 follower post and ask if I plan on having board members create a recruit which is something I started several years ago during my Fab 5 legacy and I hadn't really decided. However after thinking about it, I think I will add board members to the recruiting pool of players. My plan is to limit it to 5 players per year. So if you receive a PM with a request to create a recruit for the upcoming season, it is because I feel like you are the most active follower/comment leaving fan's I have. If you don't get a request for Year 1, you will be added to the pool of followers for Season 2.

                          COACH DEUCE WINS NCAA COY

After guiding the Oregon State Beavers to their first ever National Title, Coach Ryne Derozan II "The Deuce" was named the 2015 NCAA Coach of the Year. (attribute point earned).

                          Coach Deuce
"Being named the NCAA COY is the greatest honor you can get as a Head Coach. Obviously being named the Pac-10 COY is a great honor too, but being named a NCAA COY put's your name in the record books with the like's of Bob Knight, Dean Smith, Roy Williams, Coach K, John Calipari, ect.. I remember being super stoked when Tony Bennett won it back in 2006-2007 and I told my dad when I got hired at N. Colorado, someday I would win it too"
Joining Coach Deuce at the awards banquet where he was also named the Pac-10 COY, was Freshman PG Antwi Gerlach who was named the Pac-10 FOY. This marks the 3rd straight year a Beaver has won the award and it also marks the 8th straight year, Coach Deuce has coached a Conference FOY.

Gerlach averaged 8.1 PPG, 2.8 RPG, 3.8 APG, 1.5 SPG this season well shooting a team best 43% from 3pt (57/133).

                          Coach Deuce
"I am super excited for Gerlach. Coming into the season we had planned on having him move to SG with Spears staying at the point. However after trying the switch after a few games into the season, we found that Spears was really able to excel at times by not having to bring the ball up court, which in turned allowed Antwi to really showcase his skills as someone capable of leading our team"
Some other notable award winners was Washington's SR PG C. Samuels winning the Pac-10 POY for the 3rd straight year, Houston's 6'11 SR J. Ingram winning the NCAA POY (21.1 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 2.4 RPG), New Mexico State's SR SG A. Hargett winning the Mid-Major POY (23.4 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 2.6 APG, 1.4 SPG 40% 3pt), Indiana's SR SF H. Seibrant winning the Defensive POY (13.1 PPG, 6.9 RPG, 1.2 SPG, 1.6 BPG) and Louisville's 6'9 PF E. Burrell wining the NCAA FOY (9.7 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 1.2 APG, 1.3 BPG). **Ingram was also named the NCAA Big man of the year**

COACH DEUCE TURNS DOWN JOB OFFERS!!

Despite getting job offers from Wisconsin (hired Belmont coach), Virginia Tech (hired Marist coach), Georgia (hired Wichita State coach), DePaul (hired Towson coach), Air Force (hired Delaware State coach), Wichita State (hired Monmouth coach), Coach Deuce will indeed return to Oregon State for his 4th season, as he looks to guide the Beavers to a 2nd straight NCAA Title.

                            Coach Deuce
"Don't get me wrong Wisconsin is a great program and has a long history of winning (2 Final 4's back to back Elite 8's and a title back in 1941), and the other schools offered some great chances at rebuilding and creating some history (V.T. only has 9 NCAA appearances, DePaul has never been to a Final 4 and hasn't been to the tourney since 2003, Georgia only has 10 appearances, 1 Final 4 and hasn't been since 2007), but at the end of the day the truth is there is only a handful of schools that could've talked me into leaving this team and this program (UNC being one of them but Williams stayed). So I am excited to announce my return and see what we can do about repeating as National Champs"

                                USC LANDS #1 CLASS

The Oregon State Beavers will have a tough time repeating as National Champs and chances are even a tougher time repeating as Pac-10 Champs.

OSU will add just 1 player to this year's squad that lost 3 year starter SF C. Gillingham(83 OVR) as well as SR D. Garner (75 OVR/74 3pt).

With the lone scholarship after giving Walkon S. Chavez a honory scholarship, Coach Deuce went after a "Big" need signing 6'11 296lb Jibrahn Richard out of Huntsville Texas. Rated a 3*, Richard was rated #145 in the nation and the #2 Center available in this year's class. This past summer in the ABL he averaged 9.6 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 1.3 SPG and 1.4 BPG.

                                Coach Deuce
"We love Jibrahn's size but even more so his potential (A-). When I talked to his mom, she doesn't think he is done growing and wouldn't be surprised to see him hit 7'0 by next fall. With W. Ray still having 2 years of eligibility, we see Richard's as a great backup, but also someone who will give us the ability to play Twin Towers and really cause some havoc inside against smaller opponents"

Well Coach Deuce was signing just 1 player, USC's Andy Enfield put together this year's #1 class.. The Trojans signed 5 players including 4-5* prospects all ranked in the nation's Top-25, including this year's #1 Overall.

6'3 PG B. Sheppard (#1 Overall, AA Mr BB CA)
                                6'10 PF J. Clauidino (#17 Overall/#1 PF,AA )
                                6'6 SF R. Harmon (#19 Overall/#2 SF,AA Mr BB OR)
                                6'11 PF D. Thibodeaux (#25 Overall/5* but not AA)
                                6'10 C D. Washington (3* Rated #180 Overall/#5 C)

USC however wasn't the only school to find success this recruiting season, as 3 other teams made the Top-10 including Washington who finished #2. Joining them are 2 more teams that finished in the Top-25. Here is a breakdown of the rest of the conference.

                                Washington ranked #2

                                5* 6'2 SG D. Aguilar (#9 Overall/#3 SG, AA Mr BB WA)
                                5* 6'5 SF K. Strong (#20 Overall/#3 SF, AA)
                                3* 6'5 SF K. Hedges (#105 Overall/#17 SF)
                                3* 6'9 PF D. Lawson (#219 Overall/#35 PF)

"Alot of experts feel like the ACC and Big East are the best basketball power conferences in the nation, with the SEC, Big Ten, Big 12 and Pac-10 being the next tier. However I would have to argue after watching 6 teams make the Field of 64, and then to see the Pac-10 with 5 schools in the Top-15 recruiting class's and 2 more in the Top-30, I would have to say Pac-10 Basketball is making a move toward that next tier."

Rounding out the rest of the Top-10, was....

Notre Dame #3, Duke #4, NC State #6, Maryland #8, SMU #9 and BYU #10.

UNLV was named #12, well Pepperdine came in at #17.

The Worst recruiting class's go to Hawaii, Grambling, Princeton who didn't sign a single player.

Also noted Northern Colorado signed just 1 2* player as they also ranked among the nations worst. However they will go into next season with a entire starting lineup of Seniors who represent the last class Coach Deuce recruited.
