Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
TAMU SNAPS WIN STEAK!
Coming off their biggest win of the season knocking off #1 Kansas, Colorado would fall short in their David vs Goliath matchup vs Texas A&M, as 7'1 Tobias Torres the reigning "Big 12 Player of the Year" goes off scoring a team high 37 points (12/25 FG 2/3 3PT 11/13 FT) to lead TAMU to the victory.
TAMU lead (37-30) at the half but behind another solid night from FR TJ Youngblood the Buffs battled back to make it a 4 point game with less then 2 minutes to play, but Torres would hit 6/6 FT's down the stretch to keep that margin.
FINAL SCORE TAMU-72 CU-68
Youngblood had 22 points 9 rebounds and 5 assists in the loss hitting 8/13 from the field including 6/7 from beyond.
P. Ridnour added 10 pts and 5 reb well V. Curtis led the bench with 11 pts after getting extended minutes in hope his size could slow down Torres.
Coach Deuce"I knew we were going to have a tough time with Torres. There is a reason why was the Big 12 POY last year and why he is considered to be a top pick in this year's draft. I thought Ridnour played him pretty decent most of the time despite giving up 5 inches and 40 lbs"

BUFF'S DOMINATE 1ST HALF TO WIN #15
Behind a solid team effort Colorado cruised to a (40-24) 1st half lead over the Wildcats and never looked back as 5 players including 4 starters hit double digits in the (78-62) victory over KSU.
Youngblood led the way with team high in points (19) and rebounds (8) well also dishing out 4 assists, despite playing limited minutes and taking just 8 shots hitting 4/4 from 3pt well adding another 5 pts from the charity stripe.
Rodgers (12 2/2 3pt), Bauer (10, 2/4 3pt) and Ridnour (10) added double digits among the starters well Werner had 12 points (2/5 3pt) to lead the bench.

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
OVERTIME AGAIN!!!
#22
For the 4th time this season, the Colorado Buffalo's played their way to Overtime. Tied (44-44) at the half, neither team would ever lead by more then 4 points. Leading by a bucket, Coach Deuce was forced with a tough decision. The Cyclones had the the ball with 19 seconds to play and by all looks appeared ready to hold for the last second shot. Rather then wait the Buff's would foul sending SO PG L. Gatling to the line. Just 2/9 for the day it appeared to be the right move but reigning Big 12 FOY came up big hitting both Freebies to tie the game (73-73) Colorado would then have a chance to win it but SR Tim Moran the leading shot blocker in the nation did what he does best and sends Hardy Rodgers game winner into the stands forcing the extra period.
Once again both teams would trade basket for basket but with less then 40 seconds to play, it was ISU hitting the go ahead bucket and then it was Gatling coming up big again as he steals the ball at half court and then nails a "3" to make it a 5 point game. Down by 5, Youngblood tried to make a 2 point game but his 3 with 6.2 seconds to play rims in and out as the Cyclones hand the Buff's their 5th loss of the season.
FINAL SCORE ISU-90 CU-85
Youngblood lead all scorers with 22 points and led Colorado with 7 rebounds well also dishing out 5 assists.
P. Ridnour added 14 points and D. Torres added 11 pts and 7 assists in the loss.
Gatling takes home POG honors as he finishes with 17 pts 8 rebs and 7 assists hitting 4/11 from 3pt. Joining Gatling in double digits were 5 other Cyclones.

COLORADO MOVES TO 17-6 ON THE SEASON!!
After returning home from the disappoint loss to Iowa State, the Buff's dropped another falling to Oklahoma State (97-84) giving them back to back loss's for the 2nd time this season. The Cowboy's were led by SR S. Walsh who scored a career high 31 points in the win hitting 5/7 from beyond the arc.
TJ Youngblood led 5 Buff's in double digits as he scored a team high 21 pts and grabbed a team high 7 rebounds well hitting 4/8 from 3pt.
Colorado rebounded from their back to back loss's with 2 wins in a row. First they took on (17-4) Baylor, handing the Bears a (78-64) loss. The game became a dual between each team's leading scorer.
TJ Youngblood led all scorers with 34 points hitting 5/11 from downtown well also adding 12 rebounds for his 7th double double of the year.
Baylor's SR PF I. Nicholas (averaging 21 PPG) led the Bears with 31 points in the loss.

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
I am however feeling a little good about the fact they are 3-4 in their past 7 games after starting out 16-0 and one of those loss's was to me. I am not sure why they are still #1, I will have to look and see what has been happening with the rest of the Top-25.
I do know for a fact that Texas is currently leading the race for the Big 12 regular season title with just 1 loss and lucky me I still have a game against the Longhorns.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
Interesting to see Kansas at #1. In my legacy the Jayhawks went wire-to-wire #1 in the country and won the National Championship the first year. Since then they have struggled though, going 18-13 and missing the tournament, and being 16-10 this year and not on the bubble.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
BUFFALO'S PULL OF SWEEP!!
Despite losing 3 of their past 5 games, Kansas still came into the game ranked #1 in the country, but they sure didn't play like it in the 1st half.
TJ Youngblood's 51 point performance was on everybody's mind's including Coach Self and the Jayhawk players because everytime he touched the ball in the 1st half, it seemed like double and triple teams were coming his way.
Well the plan did keep Youngblood to just 8 points in the 1st half, it opened the door for others to step up as P. Ridnour scores a team high 12 points among the starting unit and V. Curtis adds 11 off the bench to guide Colorado to a (52-35) 1st half lead.
Trailing by 17, Kansas came out on a mission in the 2nd half and responded with a 12-0 run to make it a game, but back to back 3's by Youngblood got the lead back to double digits and the Buffaloes never looked back.
Despite the starters not playing the final 4 minutes of the 2nd half, Colorado still managed to surpass the century mark, as JR J. Mallory connects on 2/3 from 3pt and then scores on a 3 point play to finish with 9 points all in the final minutes.
FINAL SCORE COLORADO-102 KANSAS-88
Youngblood didn't score 50 or even 30, but did manage to take home POG honors with a team/game high 28 points hitting 4/8 from 3pt well adding 4 rebs and 3 assists.
Ridnour finished with 19 points and 5 rebs well H. Rodgers had 12 and 7. Curtis scored just 2 points in the 2nd half to finish with 13.
A. Massogo scored 20 points (2/6 3pt) in the loss well A. Holman (16, 2/6 3pt), J. Worthington (15) and C. Couilbaly (12 1/3 3pt) also had double digits.

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
POLLS CONTINUE TO SHOW NO LOVE FOR THE BUFF'S
Despite sweeping #1 Kansas twice this season and having a 4-1 record vs Top-25 programs and the #4 RPI in the country, Colorado has been unable to break into either Top-25 Poll's (Media/Coaches) and now after picking up 2 more wins this week including another Top-25 opponent, Colorado is now 20-6 and currently sitting atop the Big 12 Standing's at 9-3 with a 1 game lead over #23 Texas and yet they still get zero love.
Coach Deuce"I honestly don't get it. The Big 12 is currently ranked with the #1 RPI. We have 9 teams that will potentially end the year with 20 or more wins yet there are schools like Marquette who have 9 loss's and are #8 in the Big East yet they are ranked #13 despite having a RPI of #8. and then there is the fact that #19 Charlotte (22-4, RPI #22), #20 Gonzaga (22-3,RPI #34), #22 UALR (21-3, RPI #28), #24 G. Washington (22-7, RPI #44) and #25 Rider (22-3, #30 RPI) all ranked ahead of us."
RECAP OF LAST WEEK'S GAME'S
#23 (16-8) TEXAS A&M FINAL SCORE CU-80 TAMU-69
TJ Youngblood scored 15 of his team/game high 23 points in the 2nd half to guide the Buff's to their 4th straight win after trailing (32-31) at the half. As a team Colorado shot 12/24 from 3pt, well the Aggies shot just 3/15 from downtown. 7'1 Tobias Torres scored just 18 pts in the loss after scoring 37 in the Aggie's win over CU earlier in the season.
(18-8) OKLAHOMA STATE FINAL SCORE CU-100 OSU-69
In a revenge win for a earlier (97-84) loss to the Cowbodys in Boulder, the Buffs kept the foot to the pedal from start to finish in this one in Stillwater.
Coming off a 50% night from beyond the arc vs the Aggies, the Buff's continued their hot hand shooting connecting on 14/22 from deep including 8/8 in the 1st half which lead to a (48-34) lead.
TJ Youngblood took home POG honors with 24 pts 9 reb 4 assists (8/16 FG 3/5 3pt), but Coach Deuce also got a career high from FR PG D. Torres who scored 18 (3/5 3pt) well also dishing out 5 assists. SR H. Rodgers also had a solid night posting 16 and 8 well connecting on 3/4 from beyond the arc.
SR S. Walsh who had 34 in OSU's earlier win, scored just 8 playing 19 minutes as he finished with 4 fouls. 6'9 JR Center Ricky Manning led the Cowboy's with 24 pts in the loss.

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
You would think so, but I don't know, the polls make zero sense to me, and RPI is even worse. Even when I was at Northern Colorado, I would end up the year with a RPI in the Top-10 yet still had a hard time making the polls with 24+ wins then too.Comment
