Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
With the regular season done and over with, it's Conference Tournament time. If your regular season didn't go as planned it's okay, because if you can win this one you will secure your automatic bid to the "Big Dance"
Here is a look at the regular season winners of each Conference.
American East (Hartford,Stony Brook, UMBC and Boston U) all finished 12-4, but Boston U is 23-10 and has the best RPI.
ACC- UNC and Maryland both finished at 11-5, but the Tar Heels won the inseason meeting. With a 24-7 record and #9 Top-25 ranking, UNC is looking at #2-3 seed.
A-Sun- Gardner-Webb won going 13-3 and finished 19-9, but if the Running Bulldogs are going dancing they will need to take care of business.
A-10- Charlotte won going 12-4 and finished 25-4 Overall ranked #12 in the latest Top-25 Media Poll.
BIG EAST-#2 Villanova finished 16-2 to beat out #1 UConn (15-3) for the regular season title but both these teams are currently projected as #1 seeds.
BIG SKY-Montana won the regular season title going 11-5. This marks the 2nd time in 8 years they have won it. The other 6 belong to Northern Colorado who finished 8-8 this year and 16-16 Overall. Question is can the Bears pull off the upset and get the Dance Party invite, both loss's to the Grizzlies in the regular season where by less the 6 points.
BIG SOUTH-High Point finished 12-2 and 21-10 Overall, but unless they secure the auto bid the Panthers #133 RPI won't get them in.
BIG TEN- Wisconsin won going 15-3 and 26-6 Overall. With a #12 RPI, they are currently projected as a #4 seed but a strong Big Ten tourney could move them up to a #3. With Michigan State and Indiana also ranked in the Top-25 and with 20+ wins that could be hard to do.
BIG 12- Colorado took home the title in Year 1 of Coach Deuce's reign under the play of TJ Youngblood. Despite only being ranked #20 in the Top-25 Media Poll, the Buff's #1 RPI has them currently projected as #2 seed in the Midwest Regional.
BIG WEST- Pacific won the regular season going 14-2 and finished at 20-4 with the #74 RPI. But's that's not good enough to get them on the bubble. They will need to secure the auto bid if they want to Dance.
Colonial- Hofstra won going 16-2 and finished 28-5 Overall with a #44 RPI. Even if they don't win, they are probably in. Northwestern (23), James Madison/George Mason (19) and VCU (18) all have enough wins to make them threats to secure that auto bid.
CUSA- East Carolina took home the title at 13-3 and 22-9 Overall finishing with the #59 RPI. They are on the bubble list, so they need to go deep in the tourney to keep their hopes alive. Rice/Tulane both finished with 18 wins, well Memphis/SMU have 17.
Horizon- UW-Green Bay finished 14-4 and 17-10 Overall, to win the title, but will face stiff competition come tourney time from Cleveland State (20), Loyola IL (21), Illinois-Chicago (19) as these 3 teams also want to Dance.
Ivy League- Harvard has secured the first invite after winning the title going 11-2 and finishing 19-10 Overall.
Metro Atlantic- Niagara and Rider both tied going 14-4 and split the regular season meetings. Rider finished 24-5 Overall and has the #34 RPI so they are a lock no matter what, but the Purple Eaters #55 RPI and 22-9 Overall record has them on the bubble. Problem is Loyola MD (21-9) and Sienna (21-9) both have proven they too can win games.
Mid-American Buffalo won the regular season title going 13-3 and 22-6 Overall. With a #63 RPI, they are on the bubble list, so they need to go deep if not win it all.
Mid-Eastern Florida A&M won the regular season title going 15-3, but Bethune-Cookman (19 wins) will challenge them for the auto bid.
Missouri Valley Bradley won going 15-3 and finished 27-6 Overall, However their #93 RPI leaves them needing the auto bid, if not a NIT bid is in their future.
Mountain West Could the MWC get 3 teams in? UNLV won the regular season title going 14-2 and finished 29-4 Overall landing them at #5 in the latest Top-25 poll, with a RPI of #9, they are currently projected as a #2 seed. BYU finished 24-7 and is ranked #19 and has the #26 RPI, so they too are in. San Diego State finished just 8-8 in conference play but 21-8 Overall and has the #53 RPI. They are on the bubble, so they will likely need to win the tourney if they want in.
Northeast Robert Morris won going 13-5 and finished 17-15 Overall. Long Island (18), and St Francis NY (16) however will challenge them for the tourney title.
Ohio Valley Murray State won the regular season going 14-6 and 17-11 Overall, but will face tough competition from Tennessee Tech (19-9), Samford (18-11), and Jacksonville St (18-15) in the tourney.
Pac-10 The Oregon State Beavers won the Pac-10 going 14-4 and finished 23-8 Overall ranked #11 in the nation despite not having Coach Deuce to try and lead them to a 3rd straight title. With the #7 RPI, the Beavers are currently projected as the #3 seed in the West.
Patriot League Bucknell won the regular season going 9-5 and 20-11 Overall. However with 6 teams with .500 records in conference this won is anyones for the taking.
SEC #3 Tennessee and #13 Alabama tied going 12-4 and split the regular season meetings. Both teams also finished with 24 wins. The Vols #5 RPI however currently has them projected as a #1 seed in the Midwest well Alabama is a #4 in the South.
Southern Georgia Southern won the title going 17-3 and 21-7 Overall, but expect them to be challenged by Wofford (21-10) and The Citadel (19-12).
Southland Nicholls State won going 12-4 but finished just 14-15 Overall (Wow they sucked in non-conference play). At this point whoever wins this conference will be in the "Play in Game"
Southwestern Prairie View and Alabama A&M tied going 12-6, but the Panthers are 18-14 Overall well the Bulldogs finished 16-13. Chances are again whoever wins this one could meet the Southland winner in the "Play in Game".
Summit League Southern Utah went 17-1 and finished 23-7 Overall, however they #117 RPI leaves them needing the auto bid if they want to Dance.
Sun Belt UALR also went 17-1 in conference play and 23-4 Overall. With the #37 RPI they are in. Middle Tennessee (20-8 #64 RPI) however is on the bubble and will need to win the tourney if they want to Dance.
West Coast Gonzaga went 13-1 and 25-4 Overall finished #21 in the latest Top-25 Poll. The Zag's are currently projected as a #6 seed in the West. With a #33 RPI they are likely in no matter what, so look for Santa Clara (22-10) or Saint Mary's (17-10) to try and sneak their way into the Dance.
WAC Utah State won going 13-3 and 22-5 Overall. With the #43 RPI, they are likely in no matter what leaving Nevada (20-8), Idaho (20-11) and Hawaii (17-13) are hoping for a upset auto bid.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
WILL YOUNGBLOOD WIN THE POY?
Freshman TJ Youngblood (Deuce/Me) made alot of noise when he chose Colorado over Oregon State who was coming off back to back NCAA titles. When Coach Deuce left OSU to follow his friend to the Buff's even more noise was made about whether or not these 2 could turn Boulder into a basketball powerhouse and if Youngblood could carry the team.
Well going into the Big 12 tourney, YB is currently 3rd in the nation in scoring at 24.4 PPG, well also averaging 8.8 RPG, 3.8 APG and 1.4 SPG, well shooting 54% FG and 49% from 3PT (106/216) playing in all 30 games for the Buff's.
Youngblood however isn't the only star Freshman to play great this season.
Kendall Jenkins (Beast10) despite injuries that saw him only play 21 games has led the Rebels to a Top-25 Ranking and potential #1/#2 seed in the NCAA tourney averaging 14.5 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 1.9 APG well shooting (43% FG, 37% 3PT)
Oregon went just 17-13 Overall and 9-9 in Pac-10 play and with the #54 RPI will need to win the Pac-10 tourney if they have a chance to Dance. If anyone can help them do it, it will be Rex Robinson (ViceBeliever) who leads the team in scoring 15.6 PPG, well also averaging 5.1 RPG, 1.9 APG and .9 SPG well shooting 44% FG and 45% 3PT (74/166) starting all 30 games.
Like Oregon, Florida finished .500 in conference play going 8-8 and 19-11 Overall, but with the #23 RPI their tourney hopes are still alive despite no Top-25 ranking as they are projected as a #9 seed. FR Jackson Freeman (Southernmedalhead) will play a major role in how far they go. He is #3 in scoring on the team at 13.6 PPG well also averaging 2.4 RPG, 3.8 APG and 1.5 SPG well shooting 45% FG and 47% 3PT (77/165) starting all 30 games at SG.
**Note** Trey Damon (Wonzer) continues to see limited PT with the Beavers as they look to 3-Peat. He has played in just 9 games logging a total of 26 minutes, hitting 3/6 from 3pt and is averaging 2.4 PPG.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
Well like Vice said, Oregon is going to need some help. If they can manage to win the Pac-10 tourney they would be in, but I have a feeling they are going to the NIT. Florida, UNLV, Oregon State and Colorado are all in, but the question is will any be put in the same bracket or make it far enough to play each other.Last edited by Deuce2223; 06-03-2015, 01:04 PM.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
BIG 12 TOURNAMENT RECAP
The tournament started out on Day 1, with #4 Kansas having to play their way in against instate rival Kansas State, after the Jayhawks finished just 8-8 in Big 12 play including winning just 4 of their last 10.
Kansas however would squeek by with a 96-91 win to advance to take on Texas in the Quarter Finals.
Other 1st Round action saw Oklahoma beat Baylor (96-56) as they advance to play their instate rival Oklahoma State in the Quarter Finals.
Texas Tech also advanced beating Missouri (85-81) as they will play Texas A&M in yet another heated Big 12 rivalry game.
Nebraska defeats Iowa State (77-71) to earn the chance to play Colorado in the Quarter Finals. Either matchup was going to be tough as CU's earlier meetings with both schools have ended in Overtime.
COLORADO FALLS TO HUSKERS!!
Coming off their 1st ever regular season title, the Colorado Buff's chances at a Big 12 tourney title ended today as they fall to Nebraska (79-73).
CU trailed (42-34) at the half and trimmed to the lead to just a bucket with less then a minute to play, but back to back 3's by Nebraska's SR Jason Capel sealed the deal. Capel finished with a career high 32 points and 9 reb hitting 12/18 from the field and 5/7 from beyond the arc.
Star Freshman TJ Youngblood led Colorado in the loss with 19 pts and a team high 8 rebounds as he too went 5/7 from deep. Fellow FR SG J. Bauer added 17 pts on 4/6 from 3pt as well.
NEBRASKA WINS BIG 12 AUTO BID!
Nebraska finished the regular season (16-12) and 7-9 in the Big 12, but did what it needed to do to secure a spot in the Big Dance.
After defeating Colorado, Nebraska went on to beat #24 Texas A&M (67-60) and then defeated Oklahoma State (81-80) to win the title.
IOWA STATE/TEXAS TECH/OKLAHOMA ON THE BUBBLE!
With Nebraska winning the Big 12 Title and Colorado, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Texas and Texas A&M already locks to make the Field of 64, 3 other Big 12 teams are going to be sweating it out come Selection Sunday.
Texas Tech finishes the year with a (21-12) record and the #49 RPI.
Iowa State finishes with 18 wins and the #30 RPI, but a 6-10 Big 12 record and opening round loss.
Oklahoma Finishes with a (19-11) record and the #45 RPI.
Can the Big 12 really get 9 teams in?Last edited by Deuce2223; 06-03-2015, 02:51 PM.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
SELECTION COMMITTEE SHOCKS FANS!!
#1 Villanova and #2 UConn were a lock to get #1's but nobody would've guessed that #5 UNLV and #10 Washington would grab the others.
The Huskies won the Pac-10 tourney but how their #13 RPI get's them a #1 is beyond anyone's guess.
UNLV defeated San Diego State in the MWC Championship game ending the Aztec's chances for a at-large bid. With 32 wins the Rebels have the most "W's" in the country which was enough for the committee despite their #9 RPI.
BIG 12 GETS'S 7
Oklahoma and Texas Tech ended up off the Bubble as several Mid-Majors and Major Conference's tourney's end up with upset winners.
The A-10 lands 4 teams (#4 Charlotte, #8 Duquesne, #4 G. Washington, and #11 Fordham) well the Metro (#9 Rider/#12 Siena), WCC (#5 Gonzaga/#11 Santa Clara), WAC ( #9 Utah State/#12 Idaho) and the SunBelt (#7 UALR/#13 W. Kentucky) all get 2.Comment

Re: Following in the footsteps of a Legend (CH2k8)
Buff’s land #3 seed in the Midwest!!
Colorado will start their trip to the Dance as the #3 seed playing #14 Wofford in Round 1. The Terriers finished the regular season (18-10) and 3rd in the Southern at (13-7) before winning 3 straight in the Southern Tourney to secure the automatic bid. They are led by 6’10 SR PF Zygis Smalls (72 OVR) who is averaging 20.0 PPG, 7.5 RPG and 1.1 BPG.
Always looking to create special stories within the matchup’s, the Selection Committee once again was at work as they put Nebraska in the Midwest as the #11 seed with a 1st Round Matchup vs #6 BYU, setting up a potential Big 12 showndown in the Round of 32.
Coach Deuce“I think it’s safe to say most experts expect us to beat Wofford in the opener, and I am not going to lie it’s hard not to look past them at our next potential opponent especially when it could be the team that just beat us.”
Here is a look at the entire Midwest Regional
#1 UNLV vs #16 Northwestern State.
#8 Miami vs #9 Texas
#5 Gonzaga vs #12 Siena
#4 Charlotte vs #13 High Point
#6 BYU vs #11 Nebraska
#3 Colorado vs #14 Wofford
#7 UALR vs #10 Florida State
#2 Tennessee vs #15 Florida Gulf Coast
Oregon State lands in the East!
Oregon State will attempt to win a 3rd National Title as the #4 seed in the East Regional, where they open up against #13 Harvard who won the Ivy league regular season title.
If OSU is going to make it a 3-Peat they will have to past a pretty tough resume that includes a potential Round 32 matchup vs #5 Indiana as well as a Sweet 16 matchup with the #1 team in the country (Villanova)
Coach Deuce“I am proud how the team rallied and still took care of business in the Pac-10 winning the regular season title, but to be honest they face a pretty tough road if they want to get back to the title game. I wish them all the luck in the world, until we face them”
#1 Villanova vs #16 (Arkansas Pine-Buff vs Winston-Salem St)
#8 Duquesne vs #9 Georgetown
#5 Indiana vs #12 Loyola IL
#4 Oregon State vs #13 Harvard
#6 Texas A&M vs #11 Fordham
#3 North Carolina vs #14 Illinois State
#7 Duke vs #10 Iowa State
#2 UCLA vs #15 Long Island
Can Duke make it past UCLA for a possible Sweet 16 matchup vs #3 UNC. If #9 Georgetown makes it to Round 32 could they beat #1 Villanova?
Here is a look at the West Regional
#1 Washington vs #16 Jacksonville State
#8 Oklahoma State vs #9 Utah State
#5 Ole Miss vs #12 Idaho
#4 Alabama vs #13 W. Kentucky
#6 Notre Dame vs #11 Santa Clara
#3 Michigan State vs #14 Montana
#7 Pitt vs #10 Florida
#2 Wisconsin vs #15 American
The Ole Miss vs Alabama Round 32, and the potential Wisconsin vs Michigan State Sweet 16 matchup highlight some of the top rivalry matchup’s setup by the committee.
Here is a look at the South Regional
#1 UConn vs #16 Southern Miss
#8 Marquette vs #9 Rider
#5 Louisville vs #12 Auburn
#4 G. Washington vs #13 Bowling Green
#6 South Carolina vs #11 Pacific
#3 Kansas vs #14 SD State
#7 Hofstra vs #10 NC State
#2 Providence vs #15 Hartford
Another potential Big East showdown in Round 32 with UConn vs Marquette and then another in the Sweet 16 if Louisville advances and yet another in the Elite 8 if #1 vs #2 meet.
Can Kansas rebound from their horrible Big 12 play to get back to the form early in the season when they won 16 straight and where the #1 team in the country?Comment
