    MEET YOUR 2017 BUFF'S

Year 1 of the Coach Deuce Era in Boulder starts with a 10 man roster that includes 6 Freshman including 4 starters and 1 walkon, with only 1 returning starter from last years 17 win season. Here is a look at both 5 man rotations.

    THE STARTERS

    PG-6'2 FR D. Torres (74 Overall/76 3pt)
"The New Mexico Mr BB and 4* Recuit, will get the task of running the point"

    SG-6'3 FR J. Bauer (75 Overall/74 3pt)
"The Colorado Mr BB and 3* Recruit will likely be the Buff's #2 option this season as he offers a solid inside game (82) as well a med jumper (74)"

    SF-6'8 FR TJ Youngblood (81 Overall/90 3pt)
"The #4 Overall player in the country is the best player Colorado has seen since the days of Chauncey Billiups. Look for him to be the teams #1 scoring option as he Coach Deuce looks to showcase his "little brother" as one of the best players in the country"

    PF-6'8 SR H. Rodgers (72 Overall/75 3pt)
"The lone Senior on the team and only returning starter. Rodgers has actually started the past 2 seasons in which Colorado has made the NCCA tourney averaging 6.7 PPG, 4.2 RPG and 1.0 BPG. He also is a 34% career 3pt shooter (30/87)

    C-6'8 FR P. Ridnour (73 Overall/86 Close)
"Orginally a 3* Recruit at SF, the Wyoming Mr BB will move to the post as the Buffs have a huge lack of size on this year's roster"

    Coach Deuce
"I like this unit alot. Obviously Youngblood has the talent to become a star, but I believe the rest of these guy's will all contribute at some point to help us win games. The only thing I see hurting us is a lack of size as Ridnour will have to play out of position. If it becomes to much of a issue we might be forced to go with Curtis in the starting unit and move Ridnour to the 6th man role"
    THE 2ND UNIT

    PG-6'0 FR S. Krager (68 Overall/76 3pt)
    SG-6'1 JR J. Mallory (72 Overall/75 3pt)
    SF-6'4 JR A. Werner (73 Overall/77 3pt)
    SF-6'4 JR C. Casey (71 Overall/68 3pt)
    C-7'2 FR C. Curtis (65 Overall/81 Close)

    Coach Deuce
"Krager,Mallory and Werner give us 3 more guy's who can shoot from beyond the arc, well Curtis is the team's only player taller then 6'8. The 7'2 walkon was a 2* Recruit Rated #570 Overall and the #51 C in the nation last season. Look for Werner to grab ahold of the 6th man role. He made 2 starts last season and played in all 31 games averaging 5.2 PPG and 2.2 APG and is a career 44% 3pt shooter (46/104)",

With only 1 Senior on the roster, Coach Deuce will have only 1 scholarship available this season. With a huge lack in size, the question is will Coach Deuce pass up on signing the best player he can or be forced to settle for someone who can bring some inside presence to the Buff's roster?

I remember you from past legacies. Good to have you along for this one. I am 7 games into the season and I will leave it at this. TJ is the man!!!! It is my hope that he will be the one to get me the POY and 2K Sports Award Winner attributes. I still don't get the 2K Sports Award Winner one at all, because Ray won the Defensive POY last year for me at OSU

After 2 National Championships with Oregon State, it's cool to see you go to Colorado. The Buffaloes don't have much of a basketball history, and you made your name in the state already with Northern Colorado. Like you mentioned, Youngblood could be the best Colorado player since Chauncey Billups. Other than Billups, Richard Roby, and Askia Booker, I really can't think of a notable Colorado player.

Its crazy that you left Oregon State but if there was a chance to coach my guy at the other school he committed to I'd go there too. Good luck in Colorado looks like you are having almost the same issues I'm having.

In a closed legacy, I don't think there is anyway to get players to transfer, and I must apologize in advance because Trayvonn is like the lowest rated player on the Oregon State roster, thus he will likely see very limited playing time. Shoot me another PM with another player and I will put him in next year's recruiting class.

Well you named probably the best 3, but they have also had Matt Bullard who has had a pretty decent NBA career and more recently Alec Burks (2011 1st Round pick with the Jazz) and they had a guy by the name of Cory Higgins who actually is one of the schools leading career scorers with 2000 points.

It is my hope to put Youngblood in the record books at CU

It was a tough decision but I am 7 games in and I am already loving Youngblood so much.

Guess I it will be awhile before I can win the 2k Sports Award, because it's my plan to go back to a Mid-Major school to finish out my career (hopefully Boise State). That could be why I have never won. I typically don't just focus on 1 player at that level. Cam Atkinson was a 3 time Big Sky POY but never made it into discussion for a National Award.

                          BIG 12 PREVIEW

                          (Overall Ratings)

It’s been 10 years since Kansas (94) has won the Big 12 regular season title, but as the #1 team in the country, the Jayhawks are the favorite this season, with 3 seniors in the starting lineup and 6 on the roster plus 3 Juniors (2 starters) this squad will be looking to go much further than their 1st Round loss in the NCAA tourney last season.

Player to keep an eye on is 6’7 SR SF A. Massago (87). A former 4* Mr Kansas BB, Massago averaged a team best 17.4 PPG last season well shooting almost 42% from 3pt (59/141)

                          #2-#6 is a toss up between, #11 Texas Tech (91) #13 Texas (91), #23 TAMU (89), Oklahoma State (89) and Oklahoma (89).

Like Kansas, the Red Raiders are a veteran squad with 5 seniors (3 starers) led by 7’0 SR K. Schneiderman (86) who is a former 4* Recruit expected to be a lottery pick this upcoming NBA Draft.

The Longhorns have won 2 of the past 3 regular season titles having their ideas of 3-peat squashed by TAMU last season. Led by a trio of juniors in the starting lineup including former 5* AA Texas Mr BB PG L. Bazin (84) this team will look to make it 4 in 5 years if they get their way.

Texas A&M returns looking to defend the title they won last season going 12-4 and 28-8 Overall, will rely heavily on 7’1 SR C A. Torres(86) who was named the Big 12 POY last season after averaging 18.9 PPG, 5.9 RPG and 2.0 BPG.

Oklahoma State has just 1 SR in the starting lineup in SF A. Austin (88), but he is considered to be the Big 12’s “Best Overall, Best Pro Prospect, and Best Defender”

Oklahoma hasn’t won a Big 12 regular season title in 10+ years but did manage to make it to the Big 12 tourney championship game last season before losing to TAMU. Like TTU and Kansas, the Sooners boost a veteran squad of 5 SR’s (3 starters) and 3 JR’s (2 starters). Player to watch for is 6’8 SR SF Can Boone (87).

#7-8 looks to be a coin flip between Iowa State (88)and Nebraska (87) with the edge going to the Cyclones being how they have SO L Gatling (84) considered to be the “Best Playmaker” in the conference. Gatling was also the Big 12 FOY last season, however the Cornhuskers do have 5 seniors and 4 Juniors and are coming off a 20-10 season last year and a NCAA at large berth, well Iowa State finished just 15-15.

#9-12 is anyone’s guess. Missouri (85) Kansas State (84), Baylor (83) and Colorado (82). Well Colorado is the lowest rate of the group they are coming off back to back NCAA appearances and have added Coach Deuce and a Top-10 class. The other 3 are all coming off sub .500 records The Tigers do have 5 SR’s and 6 JR’s on their roster however so look for this group to be motivated to improve on their 12 win season last year.

                          Coach Deuce
“I am okay with going in as the underdog this season. When I started at Oregon State they were the worst team in the Pac-10 and in just 4 years the school became National Champs. So all I have to say to Kansas, Texas and the rest of them is this “Fear the Buffalo”

YOUNGBLOOD LEADS BUFFS TO 5-0 START

For those who thought maybe Coach Deuce had made the wrong choice in leaving Oregon State after back to back titles. Think again. For those who were looking forward to seeing what TJ Youngblood could do on the court, fasten your seatbelts.

The "Fear the Buffalo" era started off with a opening round win in the 2K Sports Classic against Saint Mary's (56-53) as Youngblood takes POG honors with 20 points 9 rebounds 4 assists and 2 steals hitting 7/15 from the field, 4/6 from 3pt and 2/3 from the line.

In the Bracket A Championship, Colorado took on Western Kentucky and used a 2nd half comeback (trailed 44-36) to beat the Hilltoppers (69-66). Youngblood once again took POG honors as he leads the team with a double double of 28 points and 11 rebs (9/18 FG, 3/8 3pt, 7/9 FT)

Game 3, Colorado returned home to the Coors Event Center to host the Northern Colorado Bears in front of a solid out crowd as the offense exploded for a (45-32) 1st half lead and cruised to a (90-68) win over the Bears.

After posting a double double in his last game, Youngblood outdid himself as he posts a Triple Double!!!, with 28 points 14 rebounds and 10 assists hitting 11/20 from the field, 4/8 from 3pt and 3/4 from the line.

Joining Youngblood in double digits in the win, was FR J. Bauer (17 pts 5/10 3pt),7'2 FR walkon V. Curtis (16 pts 6/6 FG 4/4 FT) and P. Ridnour (12 pts).

After the big home win, the Buffs returned to New York to take on Dayton the winner of the B Bracket. The Flyers came out cold scoring just 18 points in the 1st half (43-18) but did manage to battle back in the 2nd half but fell short as the Buffs win (73-64)

Once again it was Youngblood taking POG honors just missing out on the double double with 24 points and 9 rebs. Youngblood was 8/13 FG, 4/5 3pt and 4/6 FT.

Curtis joined him in double digits with 11 pts well A. Werner posted a career best 10 pts and 5 assists off the bench as well.

In the Championship game the Buff's took on the hometown team in the Syracuse Orange led by former Gonzaga coach Mark Few, however like the 4 opponents before them, the Orange struggled to contain Youngblood and when they did someone else stepped up.

Colorado would take a (60-45) 1st half lead, yes 60 1st half points, and never let up as they cruised to the 106-77 win.

Youngblood took home POG honors and MVP honors for the tourney as he post another double double with 23 points and 13 rebs. He also tied D. Torres with 5 assists.

Youngblood wasn't the only player feeling it tonight, as 6 other Buff's scored in double digits. Yes 6..

                            J. Bauer (13 pts 3/4 3pt), A. Werner (12 pts 3/5 3pt), H. Rodgers/C. Casey/V. Curtis (11 pts each) and P. Ridnour (10 pts)

                            As a team Colorado shot 36/61 FG 11/23 3pt and 23/32 FT, well the Orange was 30/70, 9/23 3pt and 8/15 FT.

UP NEXT (5-0) COLORADO RETURNS HOME TO HOST (2-2) AIR FORCE
