Well as you can see by my next post, Youngblood surprised me by staying. So now I will have a deadly duo plus a pretty solid core around them, so I am excited to see what happens.

Surprised to see Youngblood choose to return for another year, I wonder if Lathum will improve or decrease his stock by having a second scoring threat take away some opportunities. Of course in a best case scenario they make more opportunities overall to offset how many each get but that's another topic.

Losing the size might be an issue, hopefully you don't run into any old school styled offenses next season.

Well the good news is I did land another 7 foot walkon, plus 2 guy's who are 6'8 so at least I added some size to my bench.

I havn't completely decided yet but one possibility is to move Bauer out of the lineup and make him my 6th man where he would be the backup PG and SG which would allow Lathum to play SG, keep Youngblood at SF and move Ridnour to PF, with Curtis taking over the middle and then use my new 7'0 walkon as my backup big. (I will have more about the roster during my team preview)

As far as the scoring with Youngblood with Lathum coming on board, I am not sure how much it will hurt YB, but more that we will see a big dip in the production of the scoring from the rest of the guy's, because it will pretty much be those 2 guy's taking the shots.

                  TEAM PREVIEW

Coach Ryne “The Deuce” Derozan returns for season 2 with the the Buff’s after guiding them to a 29-8 record losing in the National Title game to Wisconsin. With 9 players returning including 4 starters plus the addition of the #1 Overall recruit in the nation, expectations in Colorado are Title or Bust.
**With Youngblood winning the POY and with the singing of the #1 Overall Recruit, Coach Deuce is now a (A-Overall, A+ Offense, C+ Defense, A+ Teacher, A+ Scout, A+ Charisma, and C+ Discipline) His record is 261 and 84 in 10 seasons with 9 NCAA appearances as well as 9 seasons with 20+ wins**

                  The Starters

                  PG- 6’2 SO D. Torres (77 OVR/77 3PT)
“The Former 3* New Mexico Mr BB started all 37 games last season averaging 5.2 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 3.8 APG and 1.2 SPG well shooting 39% from 3pt”

                  SG-6’3 SO J. Bauer (78 OVR/76 3PT)
“The Former 3* Colorado Mr BB also started all 37 games last season averaging 8.6 PPG, 3.0 RPG, 2.1 APG and 1.2 SPG well shooting 41% from 3pt”

                  SF-6’6 FR A. Lathum (83 OVR/83 3PT)
“The #1 Recruit in the nation and Colorado’s Mr BB, takes over the SF spot this season, as he looks to team up with Youngblood to give the Buff’s 2 of the best scoring options in college basketball”

                  PF-6’9 SO TJ Youngblood (86 OVR/93 3PT)
“Youngblood returns for Year 2 after winning the National POY, Defensive POY, National FOY as well as Big 12 POY and FOY, after averaging 23.6 PPG, 8.8 RPG, 3.8 AP and 1.4 SPG well shooting .478% from 3pt. After turning down the NBA with a Lottery Buzz surrounding him, YB has already advanced to Top Pick status to start the year. Question is can he repeat his performance that saw 13 Double Double’s and 1 Triple Double, now that he is playing at the PF position?”

                  C-6’8 P. Ridnour (77 OVR/88 Close)
“The former 3* Mr BB Wyoming was named a NCAA All-American after averaging 11.9 PPG, 5.2 RPG and 1.2 SPG. Those #’s in any other year probably would’ve won him the Big 12 FOY, but not with Youngblood on the team. Very undersized to play Center, Ridnour held this own and once again will be asked to do it again”

                  The Bench

                  PG/SG-6’1 SR J. Mallory (74 OVR/76 3PT)
“Mallory saw action in 36 games last season off the bench averaging 6.0 PPG, 2.4 RPG, and 1.3 APG well shooting 39% from 3pt (35/88)”

                  SG/SF-6’4 SR A. Werner (75 OVR/79 3PT)
“Played in all 37 games last season averaging 5.6 PPG, 1.2 RPG, 1.9 APG well shooting 40% from 3pt (27/67)”

                  SG/SF-6’4 SR C. Casey (75 OVR/70 3PT)
“Saw action in all 37 games averaging 3.8 PPG and 1.7 RPG well shooting 26% from 3pt (12/46)

                  C-7’1 JR C. Acasio (69 OVR/86 Close)
“Acasio is JC Walkon, from Seattle WA who was added to the roster to provide another big body off the bench”

                  C-7’2 SO V. Curtis (66 OVR/83 Close)
“The former Walkon played in all 37 games last season and was named to the Big 12 All-Frosh team after averaging 8.6 PP and 2.9 RPG.”

The Reserves (All players are currently using a redshirt)

                  PG-6’0 SO S. Krager (71 OVR/78 3PT)
“Former 3* played in all 37 games last season averaging 3.0 PPG, 1.3 RPG, 1.4 APG shooting 32% from 3pt”

                  SG-6’3 FR V. Bermudez (67 OVR/76 3PT)
“A Walkon from Brazil rated as a 3* Recruit”

                  PF-6’8 FR M. Lidzius (57 OVR/73 3PT)
“A 2* Walkon who is another big body who can stretch the court”

                  Coach Deuce on the roster.
"At this point we are going to roll with lineup, but if we run into issues with other teams just out-sizing us, then Curtis has proven he is capable of playing well and he could move into the starting lineup with Bauer moving to the bench to become our 6th man which would allow Lathum to play SG and keep Youngblood at SF"

                    BIG 12 PREVIEW

This past off-season, we saw 4 teams from the Big 12 bring in Top-10 recruiting classes including Oklahoma #2, Texas #5, Texas A&M #6, Kansas #7, which not only will make a huge impact on this year's quest for the Big 12 title but will give these team's a solid foundation for the future as well.

Well Colorado surprised everyone last season winning the Big 12 regular season title, the Buff's chances of repeating are going to be much tougher this season despite returning 9 players from last year's squad that made it to the National Title game.

Texas (93) enters the season ranked as the #2 team in the country and with 4 returning starters that made a run to the Elite 8 before losing to Colorado, expectations are high in Austin for Coach Barnes who enters with 673 career wins but only 1 Championship to his resume.

Oklahoma State (91) enters the season ranked as the #6 team in the country and like Texas returns 4 starters that drew the #8 seed last year in the tourney but lost in the Round of 32 to #1 Washington. They will look to rely heavily on SR R. Manning who is considered one of the "Best Defenders"

Kansas (92) enters the season ranked #7, after starting the year #1 last year and starting out 16-0. With 2 star freshman joining the starting lineup (PG B. Valencia-79 Overall (4* Ranked #31 Overall) and PF E. Cammon "Best Frosh"-84 Overall (5* AA Texas Mr BB ,Ranked #3 Overall) plus 6'8 FR H. Lindmann (5* Ranked #4 Overall/#1 SF from Boulder CO) coming off the bench this team is 12 deep. (5* AA Kansas Mr BB 6'5 PG R. Sterley is their #12)

Iowa State (89) made the tourney as a #10 seed but lost to #7 Duke in Round 1. For the Cyclones to repeat they will need to rely heavily on L. Gatiling (87 Overall) at the point who is considered the "Best Playmaker" in the conference, as they don't have a single player on the roster taller then 6'7.

Oklahoma (87), Texas A&M (88) Texas Tech (87) all start the year unranked but have the talent to make a run at the Big 12 title. A player to keep an eye on is SR SG C. Haynes (88) from Texas Tech who is considered the conferences "Best Overall Player"

Colorado (85) despite everything they accomplished last season start the year unranked and by Overall ratings are considered a .500 team at best, but with Youngblood returning and Lathum joining the starting lineup, the Buff's will once again look to prove the doubters wrong.

Kansas State (85), Nebraska (84), Baylor (82) Missouri (81) are projected to finish at the bottom but Nebraska proved last year that doesn't matter as they won the Big 12 tourney. With SR P S. Clifton (85) returning "Best Shooter", look for the Cornhuskers to make another run again.

                      #14 USC (94)
                      #15 West Virginia (90)
                      #16 Georgetown (90)
                      #17 Notre Dame (90)
                      #18 Iowa State (89)
                      #19 Washington (93)
                      #20 Arizona State (88)
                      #21 Maryland (89)
                      #22 G. Washington (89)
                      #23 Mississippi State (90)
                      #24 Fordham (88)
                      #25 Pittsburgh (89)

With 3 teams in the Top-10 and 6 in the Top-20, the Big East once again looks to be the most dominating in college basketball. UConn finished #2 last season behind Villanova but both made the tourney as #1 seeds, well Providence was a #2. With all 3 teams in the Top-10 it looks like most of their talent returned.

The Big 12 and Pac-10 also look to be strong from top to bottom as both teams place 4 teams in the Top-25 to start the year. For reference on the Big 12 check out the Big 12 preview.

For those who have forgotten, USC dominated recruiting 2 years in a row getting the #1 class and now one of those classes are Juniors, led by 6’11 PF J. Claudino (87 OVR).

Oregon State lost Pac-10 POY W. Ray in the post, but don’t worry they still have plenty of talented big men coming off the bench in 7’1 RS SO J. Richard (80 OVR) and 6’11 SO F. Willis (80 OVR). With 3 SR’s leading the way in the starting lineup including former 5* AA PG A. Gerlach (89 OVR), the Beavers will look to see if they can make it 4 straight year’s of an Elite 8 or better.

Washington was a surprised #1 seed last season but played well in the tourney making it to the Elite 8 before losing to the Champs (#2 Wisconsin). Led by super scorer JR SG D. Aguilar (89 OVR) and SR center C. Simon (88), they will look to give OSU and USC a run for their money.

This year’s Top-25 features something we don’t see very often in the fact (3) non power schools start out in it, as Fordham and G. Washington look to battle each other in a very tough A-10.

UNLV however is the spotlight team. They start the year #5 after making last year’s tourney as a surprised #1 seed. The Running Rebels return 3 Seniors to the starting lineup, SG G. Spencer (88), PF R. Tigert (81) and Center C. Moss (85), but all eyes will be on SO SF Kendall Jenkins-81 OVR (Beast10). Despite injuries that limited him to 26 games, he dominated when he was in there leading the team in scoring at 14.0 PPG.

The Top-25 also is void of 2 teams were have normally grown a custom to seeing. Both UNC and Duke start the year outside the Top-25 as both programs start new era’s without Coach Roy Williams and Coach K as both legends hang up the whistle. UNC hired former Tar Heel player Jim Lebo who was most recently the head coach at Gonzaga where he led the Bulldogs to a WCC Championship and Sweet 16 appearance, well Duke has tabbed long time Oral Roberts HC Scott Sutton.

                        BOARD MEMBER PREVIEW

Last season we followed 5 Freshman from around the nation including Colorado's TJ Youngblood (me), Florida's Jackson Freeman (Southernmedalhead), Oregon's Rex Robinson (Vicebeliever42), UNLV's Kendell Jenkins (Beast10) and Oregon State's Treyvonn Damon (Wonzer21)

Youngblood obviously had the best season winning the National POY award as well as FOY and Big 12 POY and FOY, well Damon saw the least action playing just 26 minutes.

Here is a look at each player as they go into this season.

Youngblood (86 OVR) is considered to be a Top-5 pick in the upcoming draft and should he repeat his performance of last season will likely go #1.

Jenkins (81 OVR) will have some big shoes to fill as the Rebels start the year #5 and will look to repeat as MWC Champs and land yet another #1 seed.

Freeman (85 OVR) won the SEC FOY and was named to both the SEC All-Frosh team as well as the NCAA Freshman All-American team and will look to duplicate #'s (13.8 PPG, 2.5 RPG, 3.9 APG, 1.5 SPG, 46% 3PT) that has made him a potential Lottery pick. He was named the SEC's "Best Shooter, and Best Pro Prospect" going into the year.

Robinson (84 OVR) was named the Pac-10 FOY as well as named to the Pac-10 First Team All-Conference and Freshman team after finishing the year averaging 15.3 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.9 APG well shooting 44% from 3pt. Going into this season he is considered the Pac-10's "Best Pro Prospect" and is considered a Top-5 pick in the draft.

Damon (78 OVR) once again looks to be buried on the bench behind a ton of depth at the SG/SF position for the Beavers, despite being considered the Pac-10's "Best Shooter". Only time will tell if he can manage to get more minutes.

Last year's Recruiting Spotlight brought us Youngblood,Jenkins, Robinson, Damon and Freeman with 4 of the 5 making big impacts for their teams. This season we add 5 more incoming recruits to the Spotlight, leaving us to wonder is the next National POY in this group.

Here is a look at the incoming 5 Freshman Recruits.

5* 7'1 Jordan James (Harlee) is from Lexington Kentucky and is this year's #2 Overall Recruit and the #1 Center in the nation. Nicknamed "Baby Shaq" this kid is unstoppable in the post and will keep everyone double thinking the idea of taking it to the rim with him around.

James currently has a scholarship offer from Coach Deuce and Colorado but has the Buffaloes ranked #12 on this Top-15. Currently Kansas, Notre Dame, Florida, UNC, and Charlotte round out his Top-5

4* 6'4 JoJo Brown (gsutiger) is from Baton Roue Louisiana. Ranked #129 Overall and the #36 SG, Brown is a solid around player who can both shoot the the ball from deep and defend with the best of them.

Brown currently has 6 teams on this target list including Colorado who has made a scholarship offer, but like James, the Buff's will have to put in hard work as they find themselves at #6.

Iowa State, La Tech, LSU, Saint Louis and Arkansas currently make up his Top-5

5* 5'11 Antoine Cole (Knickerbocker91) is from Queens New York. Rated #16 Overall and the #7 PG in the class, this kid is the total playmaker. He is a pass first PG who loves to play D.

Like James and Brown, Cole has a scholarship offer to Colorado but also like the previous 2, has CU ranked #5 out of his Top-8.

Currently Duquesne, Pitt, George Washington, and Rider make up his Top-4 however none are offering
                          .

3* 6'0 Dinky Woods (Superjames1992) is from Greensboro North Carolina. Rated #200 Overall and the #56 PG this kid can flat out score. Think Stephen Curry my friends.

Unlike the previous 3, Woods has yet to secure a scholarship offer from Colorado but does have the Buff's #5 on his Top-10 list.

Currently Wake Forest leads by a large margin despite no scholarship offer, well NC State, East Carolina and James Madison make up his Top-4

3* 6'2 Tyrone Damon (Wonzer21) is from Sacramento California. Ranked #162 Overall and the #43 SG in the class. Tyrone like brother Treyvonn can flat out shoot the rock and is viewed as one of the best shooters in the class.

Coach Deuce quickly made Damon a offer to join him in Colorado and well the Buff's are currently #2 on his Top-4 of schools, Gonzaga also offering holds the #1 spot. San Jose State and Nevada round out his Top-4

**I gave Wonzer first dibs on a 2nd player because his first recruit didn't get much P.T. However I will take PM's from anyone for players for next season. Beast10, already has Kris Wells in for the #1 spot, but will take up to 4 more guy's. Priority as always goes to those who post and comment on the thread**

Colorado will face tough road in quest to repeat.

If Coach Ryne “The Deuce” Derozan is going to help Colorado repeat it’s performance of 29-8, it’s going to take Youngblood and Lathum’s best.

The Buff’s start out the year at home vs Coach Deuce’s former team in the #9 Oregon State Beavers. Then a week later play 4 straight games with road games @ Oregon and Colorado State well also playing BYU (landed #1 Overall recruiting class last season) and Florida at home.

Colorado will then have a week off before hosting Arkansas and a road trip to #5 UNLV. The following weeks, CU will travel to Air Force, Boise State, and Wyoming before returning home to play Coach Deuce’s other former team in Northern Colorado on Dec 23rd.

The Buffaloes then close out 2017 with home games vs West Virginia (Dec 29th) and #1 UConn on New Years Day.

CU will open Big 12 play @ #6 Oklahoma State on Jan 6th.

Looks like a competitive non-conference schedule to go with the Big XII reloading big time. Hopefully Youngblood and Lathum can keep Colorado in ballgames. I'm sure a third scorer will step up this season to help them out, like Werner off the bench.

Actually just got done playing my first game vs OSU. So I will have a post tomorrow on it.

Actually Bauer and Ridnour both are solid options for my #3 scorer, well Curtis, Werner and Mallory all are solid options off the bench, so I don't think we will have a problem scoring the question is can we outscore everyone else.

By the way some interesting schools on Cole's Top-5. I figured being from New York, there would be a bunch of Big East schools recruiting him instead of the A-10
