    November 9th, 2007

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets opened up the 2007-2008 season with a warmup game against UNC Greensboro this evening and they thumped the Spartans 99-43.

Georgia Tech (1-0) dominated UNCG from the start as they pulled away to a 48-20 halftime lead. No Georgia Tech starter had to play more than 15 minutes as Yellow Jackets head coach Paul Hewitt was able to play his backups for the majority of the game.

Junior guard Lewis Clinch led all scorers for Georgia Tech with 23 points in just 13 minutes. He was amazing from beyond the three-point arc, where he shot a perfect 6/6. 6'10" junior Alade Aminu added 12 points and nine rebounds while 6'10" senior Ra'Sean Dickey totaled 12 points, seven rebounds, and four steals. D'Andre Bell also scored 12 points and grabbed five boards.

Georgia Tech was on fire from the field this evening as they shot 36/54 (67%) overall, and 7/12 (58%) from three-point range. They also outrebounded UNC Greensboro 36-19.

Sophomore guard Mikko Koivisto was the only Spartan to reach double-figures as he hit a pair of threes and scored 10 points to lead UNC Greensboro (0-1) in scoring. Freshman Darius Sellers also played decently well as he shot 4/6 from the field and ended with nine points and five rebounds.

The Spartans will be off until next Friday evening, when they will take on Texas-Pan American on the road.

      UNC Greensboro (0-2) vs. Texas-Pan American (2-0)
      UTPA Fieldhouse

      November 16th, 2007

Texas-Pan American (2-0) moved to 2-0 on the season as they defeated visiting UNC Greensboro (0-2) this evening 61-48.

Brian Burrell led the Broncs with 20 point and four rebounds. Adison Mosquera tallied a double-double for the Broncs with a strong 10-point, 11-rebound performance.

After committing seven turnovers against Georgia Tech, UNCG freshman point guard Daniel Oliver played much better tonight as he only committed three turnovers and tallied 13 points and five assists.

However, the Spartans only shot 18/56 (32%) from the floor and were dominated on the glass, where they were outrebounded 39-24. They also only made it to the free throw line seven times, though they did make 5/7, which is a vast improvement over their 2/9 laugher against Georgia Tech.

UNC Greensboro gets no rest as they have to take on the Missouri State Bears tomorrow evening on the road.

So I assume you are running the same slider set in both legacies? If so do you feel like maybe well the set still might not be tough enough to give you challenging games all the time in your West Virginia games, they might be too tough for this squad with the lack of Overall rating talent?

However it might be a little refreshing to lose 3 games in a row.

He is using the same sliders for both legacies. IMO, they work great for lower talent teams too. I use his sliders in my legacy with Winston-Salem and I struggled early in the non-conference games but when it came to the conference games I was right with the teams that were my level, and lost to the ones rated higher than me. But also able to pull some upsets and stuff like you would see in real life

0-2? I don't think I can remember a time following any of your dynasties when you're not winning national championships! Ha, looking good as always man!

Yeah, I am using the same slider adjustments, though I did make a few pacing adjustments and raised the CPU shooting sliders across the board by one point compared to what I had before (I will also adjust the sliders for my WVU legacy in the same fashion). Likewise, I raised all of the CPU shooting tendencies by 10 points because for some reason, I was getting really slow-paced games now (I actually hadn't done this until a few games into this legacy, so the first couple games were with the original shooting tendencies).

I have no idea how I used to play on 16-minute halves now because I often struggle to get enough possessions as real life on 20-minute halves, LOL.

                November 17th, 2007

UNC Greensboro (1-2) notched their first win of the Frizzell era as they upset Missouri State (1-1) this evening, handing the Bears their first loss of the season with a mildly surprising 65-61 defeat.

UNC Greensboro trailed 32-24 at halftime after Missouri State made a late run to extend their lead to eight points at the break, but the Spartans battled back in the second half. They went on a 13-0 run to turn a 53-45 disadvantage into a 58-53 lead with 4:30 remaining as freshman guard Landon Clement hit an important three to give the Spartans a late five-point lead.

Missouri State drew back to within one point with 1:30 remaining, but Kendall Toney hit his third three-pointer of the game to give the Spartans a 63-59 lead with 1:22 remaining, as he pumped fake his defender and sidestepped him to sink the wide-open trey.

Daniel Oliver had another solid game for UNC Greensboro as he scored 14 points and totaled six assists, though he did commit five turnovers. After struggling in the first two games this season, Kevin Oleksiak also performed well for the Spartans as he hit a pair of threes and scored 11 points.

UNC Greensboro shot well from the field (48%) and from three-point range (40%), but they were dreadful at taking care of the basketball, something that has been a bit of a theme this season. The Spartans turned the basketball over a season-worst 21 times this evening.

Interestingly, they only shot 1/10 from three-point range in the first half and missed their first attempt of the second half for a 1/11 start, but ended 8/20 after making seven of their last nine attempts from beyond the arc in the second period.

"It feels great to finally get this monkey off my back and get a win," beamed UNC Greensboro head coach James Frizzell after the game's end. "We definitely didn't play perfectly and I thought the way we haphazardly took care of the basketball was frankly embarrassing, but we did enough to win and that's all you can ask for. Missouri State is a good team and I don't think many people expected us to be able to beat them, especially on the road."

Deven Mitchell put on the most impressive individual performance of the night as the senior forward scored 28 points and nabbed five steals to lead Missouri State. Fellow senior Dale Lamberth added 12 points.

Next, UNC Greensboro will face South Carolina Upstate in the Spartans' home-opener next Saturday in Greensboro, NC.

                    "We choked."

That was all UNC Greensboro head coach James Frizzell had to say after tonight's game. The UNCG Spartans (1-3) lost their home-opener this evening to South Carolina Upstate (3-2) 47-46 in embarrassing fashion.

After overcoming a SC Upstate lead of as many as 11 points midway through the second half, UNCG came back to score a go-ahead field goal with Kendall Toney scoring his 14th point of the game via a three-pointer from the wing which gave the Spartans a 46-45 advantage with just over a minute remaining in regulation.

SC Upstate got the ball back with a minute left, but clanked the ensuing shot attempt. However, they got the offensive rebound and had an opportunity for the last shot of the game as the shot clock was turned off. Mezie Uzochukwu got the ball under the basket with six seconds remaining and thought he had a clean look, but Darrius Sellers swatted his shot for his fourth block of the game and the ball went off of SC Upstate, denying the SC Upstate Spartans of a chance to win the game.

                    Or so it seemed.

UNCG called a timeout immediately after Sellers secured the basketball and Kendall Toney inbounded the ball with 4.6 seconds left. The intended target of the inbound pass was Landon Clement, who is perhaps UNCG's best free throw shooter. Unfortunately, there was some miscommunication as Clement cut up towards the opposite end of the floor at the same time Toney was inbounding the basketball to what he thought was a stationary Clement. The basketball ended up skimming behind Clement and bounced on the floor a few times before being picked up by SC Upstate's Rory Spencer.

Spencer was 0/3 from the field with two points up to this point of the game, but he made the most important basket of the game as he rose up and swished an open mid-range jump shot to give the SC Upstate Spartans a 47-46 lead with 1.3 seconds remaining.

UNCG head coach James Frizzell called a timeout and he drew up a play that gave Daniel Oliver a shot at a 35-footer for the win, but his shot clanked off the front of the iron and SC Upstate escaped from Greensboro with a one-point victory.

Senior guard Luke Payne scored 14 points for SC Upstate and was the only Spartan to score more than six points.

Kendall Toney scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for UNCG. Kevin Oleksiak had another nice game for UNCG, as well, as he scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

UNCG has one week off before taking on Kent State next Saturday.

Ouch, those one point losses always hurt the most. But with such a young roster you're going to have miscommunications like that.

UNC Greensboro rebounded from their disappointing loss against South Carolina Upstate last week in their home-opener with a surprising 69-40 blowout victory over Kent State this afternoon in Greensboro.

The Golden Flashes (2-6) kept it close early on as UNC Greensboro (2-3) was not able to get much going offensively themselves, but the Spartans scored 41 points in the second half to gap Kent State as UNCG outscored the Golden Flashes by 20 points in the second period alone.

Landon Clement blew the game open in the second half for UNCG as he scored 12 straight UNCG points via three-pointers. In total, he hit five shots from beyond the arc and scored a game-high 17 points. Michael Mitchell and Kevin Oleksiak added 11 points apiece while Kendall Toney scored 10.

Harminn Quaitnance scored 14 points and grabbed six rebounds for Kent State while Isaac Knight added 12 points and five rebounds.

Despite the victory, the Spartans did suffer a huge loss today, however, as starting center Darrius Sellers suffered a severe high ankle sprain and is expected to miss up to a month of playing time.

Next up for UNC Greensboro is a road trip to Blacksburg where they will take on ACC opponent Virginia Tech.

And after that game is when I upped the CPU's shooting sliders to what is now shown in the OP. I also moved up the CPU shooting tendencies by 10.
