Turnovers have definitely been an issue at times this season. About the only thing this team does well is shoot the basketball, and even that has been a struggle at times. We don't have a lot of size and Oleksiak and to an extent Oliver are the only guards that really have any penetrating ability.

Thanks. We shall see. These losses don't bother me too much since I've won so much in my last couple seasons in my other legacy, haha.

Julian Allen scored 15 points as Georgia Southern used a strong second half performance to roll past UNC Greensboro this evening 75-59 and win their first conference game of the season.

Allen was joined in double-figures by Trumaine Pearson and Johntavious Rucker, who scored 12 and 13 points, respectively, for the Panthers (6-7, 1-3).

Georgia State led 33-28 at halftime, but scored 42 points in the second half as they found a way to slice and dice the UNCG defense that has played well recently. In total, the Panthers shot 51% from the floor, but only made seven trips to the foul stripe and were outrebounded by UNCG 30-26.

Michael Mitchell scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Spartans (4-8, 1-2) while Darrius Sellers totaled nine points and a career-best 13 rebounds. Kevin Oleksiak also added 11 points from off the bench.

Next, UNC Greensboro will host The Citadel.

The Citadel handed UNC Greensboro their second loss in a row and their fourth loss in five games as the Bulldogs blew out the Spartans in Greensboro 63-43.

Austin Dahn was the high man for The Citadel as the freshman scored a career-high 21 points and grabbed five boards. Zach Urbanus added 16 points while 7'0" freshman center Dino Dogan bullied his way to 12 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.

Mikko Koivisto was the only double-digit scorer for UNC Greensboro as he scored 11 points for the Spartans.

The Spartans were absolutely putrid on offense as they were held to 29% from the field and only made it to the free throw line four times. 43 points ties a season-low for the Spartans, which is saying something for a team that has struggled to put up points so far this season. This is the fifth game of the season in which the Spartans have failed to score more than 48 points.

"We've hit a rough patch and it's troubling," explained UNCG head coach James Frizzell. "We really got roughed up there tonight and it's tough to lose two games in a row in front of the home fans. We certainly didn't want to start conference play on this note, but it is what it is at this point and we can only look forward."

Unfortunately for the Spartans, the road forward looks dismal with Chattanooga and Appalachian State next up on the Spartan's plate. Chattanooga is 5-0 in conference while Appalachian State is perhaps the second-most talented team in the conference on paper behind Davidson.

Chattanooga blew past visiting UNC Greensboro this evening 92-75 to move to a perfect 6-0 in Southern Conference play. All five Mocs starters scored in double-figures as Chattanooga racked up 46 points in each period and shot 58% from the floor in total.

Junior guard Stephen McDowell led all Mocs (8-6, 6-0) with 20 points and five assists. Verice Cloyd added 19 points and five assists while Kevin Goffney contributed 18 points and six rebounds. Nicchaeus Doaks added 11 points while junior center Qavotstaraj Waddell notched a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks.

Landon Clement led all scorers for UNCG as he was spectacular shooting the basketball, hitting seven of eight attempts from beyond the arc for 21 points. Unfortunately, his heroics were not enough for the Spartans. Daniel Oliver also played very well with 17 points and seven assists while Mikko Koivisto came off the bench to hit three three-pointers and score 13 points.

Despite the loss, the Spartans (4-10, 1-4) had an efficient offensive night as they shot 48% from the floor and 14/28 from three-point range.

Next up for UNC Greensboro is a trip to Boone to take on the Appalachian State Mountaineers.

In a game where the two teams came in losing a combined eight games in a row, it looked like UNC Greensboro was going to snap their three-game losing streak. Instead, Appalachian State erupted on a 28-9 run after halftime to turn a 37-26 halftime deficit into a 54-46 advantage and went on to win 78-62 to snap their own five-game losing streak.

"It's embarrassing," said UNC Greensboro head coach James Frizzell after his team's fourth consecutive loss. "We played so well in the first half, then just gave no effort out there on the floor in the second half. What's the point of building a double-digit halftime lead if you're just going to come out and go through the motions in the second half? We couldn't take care of the basketball and we decided to stop trying to play defense in the second half. We have a lot of work to do and it starts with motivation."

Appalachian State (6-8, 2-4) erupted for 52 second half points, doubling their first half total of 26 points.

The Spartans (4-11, 1-5) have struggled with turnovers this season and tonight was no different as they committed 20 turnovers, most of which came in the second half during the Appalachian State onslaught.

Donte Miller led Appalachian State in scoring with 17 points. Doug McLaughlin-Willi added 15 points and Kellen Brand scored 10. Davis Bowne also had an impressive game in just 18 minutes of action from off the bench as he scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for his first career double-double.

Landon Clement had another nice game for UNCG as he scored 17 points. He was the only Spartan to score more than seven points.

UNC Greensboro has six days off before taking on a struggling two-win Elon squad on the road next Saturday.

The conference schedule has been unkind so far. Hopefully the turnovers and the shooting will be corrected before the end of the season. There's definitely been some bright moments, but one thing that I do enjoy with playing with a team at this level is that it's difficult to get them to play a complete game.

Haha, yeah. There were still some traditional powers at the top in 2030, but there were also a lot of "new kids on the block" like Duquesne, and the Atlantic-10, in general. The A-10 isn't bad in this dynasty so far, either, with a few top 25 teams, but nothing like in my other legacy... yet (at least).

Yeah, I thought we would begin to turn around things in the easier conference portion of the schedule.

Of course, part of the problem is that the Southern Conference really isn't that bad. Davidson has a really good rated team (78 OVR) and every team aside from myself, Furman, and The Citadel is rated 69 OVR or better (and I think Elon and one other are the only 69 OVR teams). There's a few teams like Appalachian State, Chattanooga, and Georgia State in the 72-74 OVR range, then of course Davidson at 78 OVR.

Yeah, I think it's pretty much a sure thing at this point. I don't think we'll even get close to .500 in conference play.
