For In-Season Free Agency, I have it set to Manual so the CPU can't sign current players.

For Off-Season Free Agency, I have it set to Auto so the CPU has the control over the teams. However, with a couple days left in Free Agency, if a team doesn't have a full 13 man roster, I will take control of the team and try to fill out the roster.

As far as trades go, I made 14 trades for various different teams. That was because one team would have 4 Centers and 1 Point guard while another team would have 4 Point Guards and 1 Center. So, I went through and tried to find trades that could benefit both teams while giving them a solid player at a position where they only had 1 player.

But, besides those trades I made, it is set to Auto. I have allowed a couple trades to go through after I looked at both rosters to see if it could benefit both teams. But, I have declined about 6 trades that made absolutely no sense lol.

                  Playoff Bracket and Preview

                  Western Conference Matchup Preview

#1 San Antonio Spurs (60-22) vs. #8 Phoenix Suns (41-41)

The San Antonio Spurs come into this series heavily favored. Their All-Star Frontcourt duo of MVP Tim Duncan and C David Robinson, nicknamed the Twin Towers, are very hard to stop. Because if you double team them, both are very good passers for their size and the Spurs have some solid perimeter shooters. So, you can't double team two of the best low post players in the NBA due to San Antonio's ability to hit the 3 and you can't let them take your bigs 1 on 1. That is why San Antonio has been so successful this year.

The Phoenix Suns barely made it into the playoffs with a 41-41 record losing their last 3 games of the season. Because of those last 3 losses, Phoenix barely made it into the Playoffs as the Denver Nuggets were just 1 game behind them. This was a disappointing season for the Suns since they have 3 very good players in PG Stephon Marbury (88), SF Shawn Marion (86), and SG Penny Hardaway (85), not to mention Rookie SF Joe Johnson (79).

                  Prediction: Spurs in 5

#4 Sacramento Kings (50-32) vs. #5 Golden State Warriors (48-34)

The Sacramento Kings started off the season as one of the best in the NBA. They were led by Power Forward Chris Webber who was putting up insane stats. However, once the Lakers and Jazz got going, and due to an injury to starting PG Mike Bibby, the Kings slowly faded from the best team in the West to the 4th best. But, don't sleep on Sacramento, when they're 100% healthy, they are definitely one of the best teams in the NBA and they could make a run in the Playoffs.

The Golden State Warriors were by far the most improved team in the NBA this year. The Warriors 2000-01 team finished with a miserable 17-65 record. The 2001-02 team finished with a 48-34 record. A 31 game improvement over the year before. Absolutely incredible.

This Warriors team is led by All-Stars PF Antawn Jamison and SG Larry Hughes. They have also gotten big contributions from stud rookies PG Gilbert Arenas and SF Jason Richardson. If they don't make a run this year, you better believe this team is going to wreak havoc on the NBA in a couple years once Jamison, Arenas, and Richardson continue to progress.

                  Prediction: Kings in 6

#2 Utah Jazz (52-30) vs. #7 Portland Trail Blazers (46-36)

The Utah Jazz started off slow, then finished as one of the hotter teams in the NBA as they nearly matched their 2000-01 record of 53-29. The Jazz, led by future Hall of Famers PF Karl Malone and PG John Stockton, don't really strike you as a team that would have such a great record. But, due to unselfish play, the Jazz have proven to be a dangerous team that can give the Spurs a run for their money. However, they can't sleep on the Trail Blazers, because they could get upset.

The Portland Trail Blazers had a pretty disappointing season as well. They probably have the deepest front court in the NBA with PF Rasheed Wallace (86), SF Scottie Pippen (85), C Arvydas Sabonis (81), PF Shawn Kemp (80), SF Bonzi Wells (80), and PF Zach Randolph (79). They also have PG Damon Stoudamire (76) who has ran the offense pretty well this year. But, injuries have really affected their record. Expect the Trail Blazers to make this a very entertaining series, because it definitely will not be a sweep.

                  Prediction: Utah Jazz in 7

#3 Los Angeles Lakers (51-31) vs. #6 Dallas Mavericks (48-34)

Just as the Los Angeles Lakers got into a rhythm after their very rough start the season, star Center Shaquille O'Neal fractured a leg and was out for the rest of the season. At that point, the Lakers looked like they could barely make the playoffs, because at the same time, starting PF Robert Horry was injured as well. However, Kobe Bryant took over and has led the team to a surprising 3rd place finish in the West despite the injury to Shaquille O'Neal. And despite the injury to Shaq this is still a relatively deep team that could make a run in the Playoffs.

The Dallas Mavericks are another team that started off pretty slow, but got on a roll around the All-Star break. Led by Superstars PF Dirk Nowitzki and PG Steve Nash, this Maverick team is no slouch. They are arguably the best offensive team in the NBA, but their defense is lacking, which is why they're only the 6th seed in the West. Along with Nowitzki and Nash, they boast the reigning 3 Point Champion in SF Michael Finley who is obviously an outstanding 3 point shooter. And overall, they have one of the deeper teams in the NBA. Like the Jazz and Trail Blazers series, this series will be one to watch for a possible upset as well.

                  Prediction: Lakers in 6

                    Eastern Conference Matchup Preview

                    #1 Orlando Magic (57-25) vs. #8 Cleveland Cavaliers (42-40)

The Orlando Magic have been the best Eastern Conference team for most of the season. Led by Superstar SG Tracy McGrady and All-Star C Patrick Ewing, the Magic boast a 57-25 record, a 14 game improvement from a year ago. McGrady definitely is the backbone of this team as he finished in 2nd place in the All-Star voting and won numerous player of the week awards. But, what makes this Magic team so good is the fact that they have talent up and down the roster. Starting at SF is Grant Hill (86) who nearly made the All-Star team. Former All-Star Horace Grant starts at PF and they have a solid young Center in Steven Hunter. They also have 3 point specialist, and last season's rookie of the year, Mike Miller coming off the bench. This team is loaded and it will be hard for the Cavaliers to beat them.

The Cleveland Cavaliers were another nice surprise this season as they finished 42-40, which was a 12 game improvement from a year ago. They're led by 1st Team All-NBA Center Zydrunas Ilgauskas and they have nice young talent up and down the roster. They have 21 year old SG Ricky Davis, 23 year old PG Andre Miller, and 21 year old PF DeSagna Diop. However, that maybe the downfall as they lack the Playoff experience to go up against the top team in the East.

                    Prediction: Magic in 5

                    #4 Chicago Bulls (49-33) vs. #5 Philadelphia 76ers (48-34)

Like the Golden State Warriors, the Chicago Bulls were huge surprises this year. The Bulls had the worst record in the league last year as they went 15-67. This year they went 49-33 which is a 34 game improvement! That is absolutely insane. This team is loaded with young talent. At PG they have 22 year old Jamal Crawford, at SF they have 21 year old Ron Artest, at C they have 21 year old Tyson Chandler, and PF they have Eddy Curry. Now, while this team seems like it will be the force of the East in a couple years now, just like the Cavs, I think they lack Playoff experience which is why I don't think they'll advance to the second round.

The Philadelphia 76ers had the best record in the East last year at 56-26. This year they started off horribly, but picked it up mid-season and went on a couple long win streaks, thanks to the league's leading scorer in SG Allen Iverson. However, Iverson is injured and will be out for 4-6 weeks, so that pretty much kills their title chances as they definitely need Iverson in the 2nd round vs. the Magic. However, with Dikembe Mutombo manning the paint, SF Glenn Robinson, and PF Derrick Coleman, this team has plenty of veteran talent to advance to the 2nd round... And I think they will.

                    Prediction: 76ers in 6

#2 Miami Heat (56-26) vs. #7 New York Knicks (42-40)

The Miami Heat went on an incredible run midway through the season and challenged the Magic for the top spot in the East for the last month and a half of the season. This was rather surprising since they didn't have a single player represent them in the All-Star game. But, don't be fooled. This team has a lot of talent. Led by C Alonzo Mourning and SG Eddie Jones this Heat team not only has talent, but a lot of quality depth as well and a nice mix of veteran and young players.

The New York Knicks' hopes of getting into the playoffs looked dim when starting SG Allan Houston went down with an injury. However, All-Star SF Latrell Sprewell led the team in that time span and carried them into the playoffs as they won the tie breaker with the Cavs to get the #7 spot in the East. The Knicks have a solid trio of SF Latrell Sprewell, PG Mark Jackson, and SG Allan Houston. However, outside of those 3, the Knicks don't have too much quality talent.

                    Prediction: Heat in 5

                    #3 Toronto Raptors (52-30) vs. #6 Milwaukee Bucks (44-38)

The Toronto Raptors started off the season really hot and was neck and neck with the Magic for the beginning of the season. But, they had a slight drop off and find themselves in 3rd place in the East. Led by Superstar SG Vince Carter and future Hall of Famer C Hakeem Olajuwon this team has a lot of talent. SF Morris Peterson was going to participate in the 3 point contest had it not been for an injury. They made a nice move during the season to acquire PG Brevin Knight, who has come up big for them this season. Those are just a few of the quality players on the Raptors team which helped them to a such a strong season.

The Milwaukee Bucks really disappointed for most of the season as they were around the 10th spot in the East for a while. Then, a long win streak propelled them into the playoffs and they have won 15 of their last 17 games, making them one of the hottest teams in the NBA. Led by Star Guards Ray Allen and Sam Cassell this team has a nice mix of veteran and young talent. For example, 28 year old SF Aaron McKie who was acquired in a trade from the 76ers is starting at SF while 23 year old Michael Redd comes off the bench in a 6th man role... And Redd has played very well this season. The Bucks got going at just the right time. But, will that be enough as they face a very tough Raptors team?

                    Prediction: Raptors in 6

                        2nd Round Playoff Matchups

                        Western Conference

#1 San Antonio Spurs (60-22) vs. #5 Golden State Warriors (48-34)

The Spurs breezed through the first round with relative ease, as they swept the Phoenix Suns 4 games to none. Tim Duncan played outstanding, as usual, but now C David Robinson looks to be playing his best basketball now... Which is scaring. Robinson averaged about 19 points and 12 rebounds in the 1st round. Which is 9 points and 1 rebound more than his regular season average. Not only that, but the Spurs got great Point Guard play from both Rookie Tony Parker and veteran Terry Porter. The Spurs are on a roll and it's going to be tough to stop them.

The Golden State Warriors continue their surprising season as they beat the Kings 4 games to 2. It wasn't an easy series for the Warriors though, as 5 of the 6 games were decided by less than 8 points. Now that they got past the Kings, they have a much bigger task at hand. However, the Warriors got great production from All-Stars Antawn Jamison and Larry Hughes, while Rookies SF Jason Richardson and PG Gilbert Arenas continued their excellent play. While the Warriors are playing great basketball, I just don't see them topping the Spurs.

                        Prediction: Spurs in 5

#3 Los Angeles Lakers (51-31) vs. #7 Portland Trail Blazers (46-36)

The Los Angeles Lakers barely got past the #6 Dallas Mavericks as they won the 7th game in the series to advance to the 2nd round. Much like the Warriors series, the Lakers/Mavericks series had 6 of the 7 games decided by less than 10 points. Kobe Bryant played fantastic basketball as he led the Lakers in scoring in all 7 games of the series. But, the Lakers got great production from C Stanislav Medvedenko, PG Derek Fisher, and 6th man Devean George. If that can continue, the Lakers would be in a great position to advance to yet another Western Conference Finals.

The Portland Trail Blazers shook the NBA landscape as they pulled off the biggest upset in the Playoffs so far as they took down the Utah Jazz in 7 games. The Trail Blazers won by sharing the load on offense as Scottie Pippen was the only player to lead them in scoring for more than 1 game... And he only led them in scoring in just 2 games. Rasheed Wallace played very well for them while SG Bryant Stith and SF Bonzi Wells came off the bench and played very well. Both even led the team in scoring one game a piece.

                        Prediction: Lakers in 7

                        Eastern Conference

                        #1 Orlando Magic (57-25) vs. #5 Philadelphia 76ers (48-34)

Much like the Spurs, the Orlando Magic took care of business in the 1st round as they swept the Cavaliers with ease. Tracy McGrady took over for the Magic and had a great series, while C Patrick Ewing and Horace Grant controlled the paint. While those 3 played great basketball, SF Grant Hill did not. If the Magic want to make a run for the title, Hill has got to step up his game as he only scored over 12 points once. But, as long as McGrady, Ewing, and Grant keep playing the way they are, it'll be tough for anyone to beat the Magic.

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Chicago Bulls 4 games to 2, proving they can win without Superstar Allen Iverson. However, it will be very tough for the Sixers to beat the Magic without Iverson, as he's still got 2-4 Weeks left till he can play again. But, SF Glenn Robinson really picked up where Iverson left off as he led the Sixers in scoring 5 of the 6 games that were played. He is arguably playing his best basketball all season. But, who else could step up for the Sixers in order for them to beat the Magic?

                        Prediction: Orlando in 5

                        #2 Miami Heat (56-26) vs. #3 Toronto Raptors (52-30)

The Miami Heat took care of business vs. the New York Knicks as they swept the Knicks in 4 games... All by a pretty sizable margin. That was the best basketball Miami has played all year and if they keep it up, they have a good chance at representing the East in the NBA Finals. Alonzo Mourning played some of his best basketball all year as he got a double double in all 4 games. If Mourning keeps up his stellar play and Jones and Gill keep shooting the way they are, like I said, the Orlando Magic need to watch out.

The Toronto Raptors beat the Milwaukee Bucks 4 games to 2. SG Vince Carter really took over the series from a scoring standpoint, while C Hakeem Olajuwon took over the game from a defensive/shot blocking stand point. SF Morris Peterson shot the ball really well and young PG Brevin Knight did a great job of running the Raptor offense. If the Raptors keep playing the way they have been, they have a great chance at upsetting the Heat.

                        Prediction: Heat in 7

#1 San Antonio Spurs (60-22) vs. #3 Los Angeles Lakers

The Spurs and the Lakers meet in the Western Conference Finals for the 2nd consecutive year. The Spurs have now won 8 straight playoffs games as they swept the #5 seed Golden State Warriors in the 2nd round. The Los Angeles Lakers dropped game 1 in their series, but bounced back to win 4 straight, so both teams are playing extremely good basketball. But, at this point, I don't see how the Lakers can stop the Spurs without Shaquille O'Neal.

                            Prediction: Spurs in 5

Just like the Spurs in the West, the #1 seeded Magic are also on an 8 game Playoff win streak as they have swept the #5 seeded Philadelphia 76ers to advance to the Conference Finals. Their opponent, the #3 Toronto Raptors, took care of business as they beat the #2 Miami Heat in a surprise upset 4-2. What helped the Raptors big time was a Strained Achilles injury to Heat SG Eddie Jones who would miss most of the series. With how well the Magic are playing, it seems like we're in for a #1 seed vs. #1 seed NBA Finals.

#1 San Antonio Spurs vs. #3 Toronto Raptors

The San Antonio Spurs continue to roll as they defeated the Los Angeles Lakers in 5 games. Tim Duncan and David Robinson have totally taken control for the Spurs as both are averaging well over a double double per game. Along with those two playing well, Rookie PG Tony Parker is playing his best basketball of the season and backup SG Antonio Daniels is shooting the ball better than he has all season. The Spurs are definitely the favorites in this matchup.

The Toronto Raptors beat the Orlando Magic in a surprising 6 game series. Part of the reason the Raptors upset the Magic was that Tracy McGrady broke his left ankle in Game 2, so obviously he would not play another game. However, Raptors Superstar Vince Carter is averaging a double double of 21.9 PPG and 10.2 APG and that is a big reason for the Raptors' playoff success this season. Toronto will need a huge series from Carter, Olajuwon, and Peterson in order to knock off the Spurs.
