About the Association
I downloaded CrazyH10's 2001-2002 rosters and created a couple players to get their correct age for the start of the 2001 season.
I also changed every single player's contract to their actual contract that they were signed to in the 2001-2002 season.
For example, Kevin Garnett was making $22.5 Million with the Timberwolves in 01-02, $25.25 Million in 02-03, and $28.00 Million in 03-04. So, every contract is accurate.
In this association I will import the actual draft class for the upcoming year.
So, for the 2001-2002 season I will import a real 2002 draft class which I modified, so about 35-40 players who were picked in the 2002 Draft (and actually played in the NBA) will be available to get picked in this Association's Draft. For the 2002-2003 season I will import the 2003 Draft Class, etc. I hope this adds an interesting twist since there is a good chance that Yao won't go to Houston in 2002, LeBron won't go to Cleveland in 2003, Dwight won't go to Orlando in 2004, and so on.
How Will This Work?
Back in 2001-2002 there were only 29 teams. This was when the Hornets were originally in Charlotte and there was not an NBA team in New Orleans. However, for the sake of this Association, I'm going to pretend that the Hornets have moved to New Orleans and that Charlotte was given the Bobcats thanks to an expansion. Which, in real life, this happened in the 2004-2005 season.
I'm using the '95-96 SuperSonics instead of OKC.
I have control of all 30 teams. But, in the Automation screen before the Association is 100% set up, I set General Automation, Lineup Automation, and Roster Automation to Auto for everything but In-Season Free Agent Signing. I did this because the CPU will try to sign current players who were placed in Free Agency and I want to keep this Association as realistic as possible. So, if a team absolutely has to sign a current player for any circumstance during the season, I will sign a current player for them and make sure they are a reserve and do not get any playing time.
I thought this Association idea would be a fun alternative to the normal Association with current rosters and a fun alternative from what actually happened in real life.
