Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
2023 Power Rankings
14. Wizards
Another fascinating team with a legit big 3 that all are 29 years old+ so the time is running out in Washington. They didn't make the playoffs last year and the supporting cast this year isn't much better then last year. Even if you wanted to trade Wall and Love to rebuild it would be hard since both make over 40 million. John Wall is 32 so a decision to give him a 3 year mega deal could end up hurting down the line. If they are in the middle of the pack in the East moving Love for a younger player and some assets might be the right move.
13. Pelicans
They won out and grabbed Whiteside at a bargain price since they was able to offer a starting job, playoff caliber team and a few more million bucks. They also signed Fournier who should average close to 20 a game. If they can get good play out of Maxey at PG they could make some noise in the playoffs. You have to at least think about trading boogie who is in the final year of his deal. They just signed Whiteside so trading him could look bad for potential FA next year however they could easily get a young player and future 1st for him.
12. Pacers
They cleared the logjam at PF/C so now Washington and Brown will need to take advantage of the extra playing time. They could potential lose Oladipo and KCP this summer and they have young players on the roster at both of those spots. I would project they will see how far this group can go before they blow it up. George Hill coming back on the minimum will really help out the 2nd unit.
11. Grizzles
They are loaded with depth and young talent with just about the entire roster mid 20's and 80 overall are better. Cam Reddish is a all star type player he just needs 1 or 2 more legit stars around him to make any serious noise. They could package Akot and 20 million expiring dollars in Len and Zimmerman with a 1st and be able to land a star player that's over 30.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
2023 Power Rankings
10.Warriors
Curry won his 6th ring last year and it was basically a two man team with a bunch of role players. They are better this year with Chris Paul as a 3rd scoring option. The rumors were they came very close to trading Draymond Green as he isn't the player that he use to be though still a elite defender. Despite his history with the team he could still be traded for someone that's on a shorter contract that could also help them win now. They are a little thin with bigs so Wiley and Looney will see a much larger role. Batum goes to a nice spot for him and Marcus Smart and Kris Dunn are still around for defense off the bench.
9. Lakers
They were not able to land Whiteside in FA so expect a move for a C to happen at some point this year. They somehow missed the playoffs despite having 4 players 90 or better. When they go shopping for a big they could easily get to the 20 million $ range with a combo of Kuzma, Len and Nance. This is LA and they have 4 legit stars so they aren't going to start a rebuild. If they make a quick playoff exit they could be forced to trade one of the star wings for a PF/C.
8. Celtics
They had to let Jordan go as the hard cap wouldn't allow them to sign him back. They will eventually have to let Irving go when Ball needs a new contract for this year that's not a problem. They combo of Bamba and Jordan was deadly down they have a trio of people to replace him in Thompson, Henson and Yabusele. This is still a stacked roster who is capable of winning the East.
7. Hawks
Anthony Davis controversial move to join the Hawks paid off as they went to the ECF in year 1. We expect sophomore former 1st overall pick Dan Little to contend for the all star team this year and their big 3 is arguably the best in the entire NBA. Quickly has pushed away from Schroder as the teams starting PG and overall they make a great pair. Diallo missed basically the entire year and he hasn't looked the same though he still has a lot of potential. They have 3 bench players making over 10 million a year so they will have to decide to keep the depth or add another star.
6. Timberwolves
After beating the 76ers in the finals 2 years ago they took a step back and this is prob the last year for this core to win another ring. Zion Williamson and Wiggins both need new contracts and while its doubtful Zion goes somewhere Wiggins could want to go somewhere where he isn't the 4th option. They will also need to give a new deal to Patton who is only 25 years old and wants to start. They have patch worked the PG spot for years with Jones and James.

Thanks I am enjoying doing them and it helps me get to know the teams better. The mavs have been on the cusp for a few years I almost think they have to much depth as its hard to figure out who gets minutes when they are all that close.Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
2023 Power Rankings
5. Knicks
The Knicks are another star studded team that missed the playoffs last year even with Lebron James still the games best player. They tried to make a move to improve the team just didn't have the pieces to do it and also had to give a new deal to Frank. They were rumors LBJ was going to demand a trade for now they have patched things up. He has made it know he will play next year with his son who is expected to be the first pick in the draft. So for the first time during his career Lebron could be traded mid season with the tricky part he would only be a half year rental. The Knicks big 3 despite it looking amazing on paper just doesn't seem to be working. They don't have much depth so if Lebron stays will have to go either bargain shopping or trade Frank for some win now players + future assets.
4. Spurs
They haven't missed a beat under Steve Kerr and while not the best roster in the NBA its good enough to be a serious threat. They signed DeRozan to be a bench wing just overall the roster isn't as good as other teams. They don't really have much they can do to improve the team from the salary matching side of things. They will need team chemistry, injuries to other teams and improved play from the young PG to win a ring.
3. Bulls
This is another team that has some tough calls to make soon with R.J Barrett about to get paid. Levine is also in the last year of his deal and still scoring about 17 points per game. Mushidi plays better then what he is rated and they would like to keep him around to start at SF once Heyward has moved on. The 23 year old Dotson has improved so he is ready to take over the starting PG role. It will likely come down next year to either Levine or Heyward one being gone. For now this Bulls team is a serious threat to win the East with R.J Barrett as the star and Williams doing the dirty work.
2. Kings
The made a big move bringing in Blake Griffin to stabilize the team who hasn't been a real factor since the Chris Webber days. Fox has developed into a superstar leading the NBA in scoring and he has a trio of young elite wings in Johnson, Bridges and Lewis. They aren't great at the C position so they will keep a eye on the trade market for that.
1. Suns
Wow who knew that trading for some bench players from the 76ers could move the team with the 2nd worst record last year to all the way up 1st in the power rankings. Cole Anthony the young PG must have heard the footsteps because he was much improved in the summer league then he was last year. They now are a extremely young team with all the key players 25 and younger. We need to keep in mind Booker for example has yet to play in a single playoff game so that's why the trade of Josh Jackson was made to strength the bench. Anthony and Marial are under rookie contracts next year and Johnson if he gets healthy could be the best rookie in the class. They also have two 1st round picks this year so the future is bright for the Suns.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
76ers 2022 & 2023 Opening Day Roster
The big news of course was the trade of Josh Jackson which we have already talked about. He fits the play style perfectly and the front office is counting on him being the missing piece to winning a ring. He will be the starting SF this year moving Ben to PG and Fultz to the SG. Covington will move to the bench and with salary cap issues coming this could be his last year with the team.
Another PG was needed so the 36 year old Goran Dragic was signed as he goes ring chasing in his final few years. He clearly isn't the player he was a few years ago and will not be apart of the normal rotation. If a injury happens he should be able give you 10 minutes or a so and score some points just his defense is pretty bad. The last roster spot was used on Christian Hale a elite perimeter defender that can guard 3 & 4. The problem is that he offers nothing else other then defense. We don't expect Hale to be active on the roster unless someone gets hurt.
Embiid despite his injury during the finals has improved over the summer and will be ready on opening night. Ingles has announced he will retire at the end of the year. TLC and Allen will be needed at some point to see some minutes at SG as that's the weakest spot on the roster. Ben will look to post up more on offense and take advantage of the height advantage over smaller PG's. T.J McConnell also will play a key role and more minutes as the backup PG with Sexton gone and Fultz playing the 2. BPJ who played great starting in the finals with Embiid hurt will get the backup minutes at C. Samanic also needs to score more as that will be his role off the bench.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
Man, tough to find minutes for O'Neal -- you're stacked with depth (not a bad thing) but someone's gonna want some minutes down there at some point. Should be interesting to see how the season goes -- Jackson looks to solve your problems on the wing, now it's just a matter of keeping everyone healthy.Comment

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
76ers vs Suns
We have been writing about the offseason for long enough its time to get back into some games and give it another shot at winning the 1st championship with this group. The Suns came in ranked 1st in the preseason power rankings a surprise to most people. We are very familiar with this team since we just made a blockbuster trade with them this summer. The Suns came into the year 2-3 while the 76ers had won all 4 games. Michael Porter was off to a blazing hot start with a stat line of 27-10-8.
They Suns took a huge lead in the 1st quarter and still had a comfortable 9 point lead at half. The start of the 4th quarter saw the Suns still hanging on to a 7 point lead. The 2nd unit played bad to close out the 3rd quarter. Covington lead the way in the 4th quarter with his 3 point shooting and gave his team a 6 point lead with 5:30 to go. Josh Jackson would seal the win with a 3 pointer with under 2 minutes to play.
The 76ers made some adjustments to defense matchups and after that the Suns didn't get anything going on offense. It looked like Sexton was going to make his old team pay with 9 early points and then he didn't do anything the 2nd half. An amazing defense effort holding Booker and Porter to well under 20 points each. Ben was able to take advantage of shorter Anthony guarding him so he posted up on him a lot. Then they switched to Booker trying to guard him and it showed why Booker is known only for his offense. Covington played amazing off the bench going 7 for 14 from 3. The bench overall though didn't play well so we will have to keep a eye on that.
Beautiful Pass for Fultz
Roco was letting them fly with 14 three point attempts

Nice win, competitive game. Embiid didn't dominate, but Jackson and Simmons sure showed up. Covington was HOT from deep, what a great game he had. Good win.Comment

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"
Really deep squad this year. If you can keep them happy... You can go big or small and dominate with a lot of different styles. What's O' Neal's personality? If he's expressive he may cause trouble.Comment
