Raptors - Game 3 - 2022 2nd Round

Covington & Bol Hot From 3

Hagans finally got some help this game even with Derozan hurt as Joel Berry scored 28 and Favors 21. The Raptors scored 114 points and still ended up losing by 8 points. The 76ers played the worst they had play all series Ben wasn't close to a triple double and him and Embiid was both held under 20 points. Fultz fouled out and only played 23 minutes. Samanic the #1 bench player in 24 minutes only got 6 points and 8 rebounds and TJ and BPJ didn't do much in a combined 25 minutes. The two players who did step up and lead the way was Robert Covington scoring 24 points and going 6 of 10 from 3. Bol has played phenomenal this series 28 points, 15 rebounds and a 7'1 guy shooting 5 of 10 from 3 just shouldn't happen.

This series is now unofficially over and the 76ers have let it be known they want the sweep. They don't need to start looking ahead even though its easy to day as the next series vs the Atlanta Hawks is going to be epic. The 76ers are now clicking on all cylinders and anything else other then a championship is unacceptable.

Raptors - Game 4- 2022 2nd Round

Another Sweep

This game was very similar to the others with Toronto being held to under 100 points and nobody outside of Hagans scoring enough. Ben was aggressive on offense with 25 points on 22 shots. Covington continues to play his 3 & D role perfect going 5 of 10 from 3 and playing quality defense. If we was giving out a MVP he would go to Bol Bol who was once again brilliant with 22 points and 16 rebounds. He also stayed hot from 3 going 4 of 8 while Embiid grabbed 18 rebounds.

Eastern Conference Preview

PG

Thoughts Fultz is a terrific offense player if he was on a different team he would score more points. Quickly may soon be better then him just not yet. Quickly still is a bad defense player and Fultz is solid in that area. You have to think Fultz will take on more of the scoring load this series and try and take advantage of the weak defense for Quickly and Schroder.

SG

Thoughts Stanley is a young player who has started most the year after some injuries. He is a pretty good all around player while Roco is 3 & D specialist. Roco has more weakness then Stanley and about 10 years older so we will call it a draw. This is the weakest spot for both teams stacked starting 5. You will see a lot of two PG sets for Atlanta with Dennis or Quickley at the 2

Thoughts Little could be the best player in the NBA in about 5 years that's how good he is and was the 1st overall draft pick. The rookie is going to have his work cut out for him as Ben is the man that makes this 76ers team click. Its going to be fun watching these two go at it, but Ben has to take advantage of the rookie here.

Thoughts Bol has been the MVP this postseason so far his on defense, shot blocking and using his long wingspan is a matchup nightmare. Anthony Davis is one of the best players in the NBA so he will get the edge here. Davis's scoring has been down the last few years so he will have his work cut out for him to score 20 against Bol.

Thoughts We thought about giving the 76ers the slight edge here in the end its just to close to call. This will be the best matchup of the series as Ayton is elite at rebounding and post defense arguable the best two traits to have as a center. Embiid and Bol are the top 2 rebounders in the postseason so Ayton has a huge task keeping them off the glass.

Bench Matchups

6th Man

Thoughts Collins is a excellent rebounder and very good defender and can score 10 to 18 a night. He makes for a perfect big off the bench behind the two stars Ayton and Davis. Samanic started the year off at PF and has officially moved to SF to open up some minutes for BPJ at C. He still plays some 4 and occasional even some 5 when the 76ers want to go small in the 2nd unit as he is 6'10. He is future all star and he can really shoot and his quick release is hard to defend. He isn't much of a rebounder or athlete, but is another really good defender.

7th Man

Thoughts Sexton doesn't have many major weakness or any major strengths. He can hold his own shooting, defending and playmaking the time could be coming up where he wants to me a starting PG. If a major move is made this offseason he will likely be in the trade for now he is the first G off the bench. Dennis Schroder has holes in shooting and defending. He and Quickly make for a exciting pair of G's. He is excellent at driving to the rim and creating his own shot. Its going to be interesting to see how that works with the elite shot blockers the 76ers have. He will see more minutes then the starting SG so he will not just be going up against the 2nd unit. This two should cancel each other out in the end.

Thoughts If your going off the ratings you see on the side T.J would likely get the vote as having the edge. He is a excellent defender, playmaking and IQ. Even though he is limited and isn't a scorer or shooter he is a fan favorite. Vanderbilt has yet to reach his potential and makes up for it with his athleticism and can score 10+ off the bench.

Western Conference Preview

The NBA is in luck as the WCF is also loaded and should be a great series. The Warriors have won so many titles we have lost count I think the number is at 5. The Blazers have a big 3 that can hold its own against anyone so they will not go down without a fight. Every star player for both teams are well past 30 so this could be the last chance either team gets of making the finals.

The Warriors are a different team then we they started this run as Durant and Curry have to carry all the scoring load for this team and they don't play small ball anymore. Green's day of being elite seem to be over and he isn't filling up the box score like before. Jordan Bell and Marcus Smart know their role and are good defenders. Durant and Curry have to score 25 + every game as they don't have a 3rd scoring option on this team. They have some solid bench players downlow overall this team isn't as loaded as you would think for winning 70 games.

C.J and Lillard are the best scoring G combo in the NBA and either one can carry the team on his back. They weakness is they aren't good defenders so they catch a break with Marcus Smart not being a scoring threat. They might have the best depth at big men in the league with Collins, Swanigan, McCoy and Gasol. Marc Gasol is pushing 40 and still one of the best C in the league and gives them a legit scoring big. George Hill is also the best reserve G they have had in years. The problem for them is SF where its average Evan Turner and the young guy Little. If they lose the series you will have to question them for not upgrading the spot.

Hawks - Game 1 - 2022 ECF

Covington Stays Hot

The 76ers take game 1 on the road and had a pretty comfortable lead all game even though the Hawks did cut the lead to 5 in the final 4 minutes. When you look at team stats it was a pretty even so nothing major to talk about from those. The 76ers are still undefeated in the playoffs and the Hawks will have to play near perfect to beat them 4 out of 6 games.

Starting SG Stanley was a surprise with 21 shots and scoring 20 points. Anthony Davis got off to a hot start and then cooled after that still turned in a good game with 19 and 15. Ayton was a nightmare on the defense end with 7 blocks he definitely protected the rim and caused more missed shots then usual. Quickly and Schroder both have to play better as they shot a combined 4 for 21. Collins saw less minutes then usual because a injury.

The player of the game was Covington who surprisingly was the high scorer with 24 points on 6 of 11 from 3. Fultz had a off night shooting from 3 only going 1 of 7 despite getting good looks. Ben was right at his averages for the year, but not the monster game we expected. Embiid was held in check scoring with only 10 points he still contributed with 23 rebounds. Bol didn't lead the game in rebounds or blocks still was a force down low with 22 rebounds and 6 blocks.

Hawks - Game 2 - 2022 ECF

Embiid Has Nightmare Game

The streak is over as the Hawks beat the 76ers by double digits and pulled away in the 2nd half. The series is now tied at 1 and will return to Philly for the next 2 games. The 76ers may have fell in love with the 3 to much shooting 39 which was likely because Aytons 7 blocks in game 1. Keep a eye on the FT shooting later on the series as that's been a problem for years. We expected a close and back and forth series and it looks like we are going to get that.

The Hawks was once again led in scoring by Stanley who was even better this game going 9 of 15 for 24 points. The PG duo of Quickly and Schroder played awful last game and great in this one with both being around 20 points with over 50% from the field. The two star big men both had double doubles and played great defense.

Embiid had a night to forget as he was awful going 2 of 14 and only managed 6 points in 39 minutes. The problem was offense being held to under 90 points and being out rebounded. Ben has to get going as this was his 2nd straight average game.

Hawks - Game 3 - 2022 ECF

Embiid Off Again... Bol Picks Him Up

This was a back and forth game that saw the 76ers sneak away with a close win with both defenses playing well. The 76ers killed themselves with turnovers and are very lucky to escape with a win as they turned it over 28 times twice as many as the Hawks. The 76ers are now up 2 to 1 with one more game at home.

Dan Little the rookie 1st overall pick had his best game of the series with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 7 steals. Anthony Davis shoot a bad %, but still was close to a 20 20 game. John Collins is still bothered by a minor injury and didn't do much of anything in 8 minutes.

For the 2nd straight game Embiid had a off game and didn't score his first FG till the 2nd half. The bench played well with Samanic and BPJ both scoring in the teens. Bol Bol was the player of the game with a monster stat line 15 points, 26 rebounds, 2 assist, 1 steal and 7 blocks. Roco continues his hot stretch and even though he didn't shot a crazy high % had 20 points, 12 rebounds (6 off), 4 assist and 3 blocks.

Hawks Fan Blame Refs

The 76ers win big hers as both Ayton and Davis foul out and both starting G's have 5 fouls. John Collins the backup big for the Hawks will finally be healthy for game 5 and he will be needed as it will take 3 straight wins to go to the NBA finals.

Hawks Stay Alive

The Hawks win a close won and will force a 6th game after a close 5 point victory in game 5. The Hawks were once again troubled with fouls as Anthony Davis played only 19 minutes in fouled out. The fouls went both ways as both starting G's for the 76ers fouled out. Ayton has his best game of the series on offense and Quickly had 13 assets. Embiid finally bounced back with a good game on offense. Sexton did nothing in his 20 minutes and Ben has to be more aggressive shooting only 6 times.

Bol Leads The Way Again

The 76ers get the double digit win and will go to the finals for the 2nd straight year. Bol Bol was once again the best player for the 76ers with 28 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. The Hawks played tough all series long and the 3-4-5 combo might be the best in the NBA. Ayton really made Embiid a non factor all series and Ben was pretty quiet. The fans went crazy in the 4th as longtime starter and now deep reserve Joe Ingles hit two 3's. He is still a excellent 3 point shooter and could now see a few minutes in the finals.
