BRONCOS WILL FACE DUCKS IN REMATCH IN ELITE 8 PAIRING!!!
      x

#1 Oregon ended #12 Arkansas State's Cinderella story run (78-67) to advance to the Elite 8 to setup the biggest rematch of the season.

Boise State has just 5 loss's this season (32-5) with 2 of them coming at the hands of the Ducks, 1st in a (104-83) loss in Round 1 of the Polar Bear Tip-Off Classic and then again in Eugene on Dec 9th (75-60).

Can the Ducks make it 3-0 against the Broncos, or will the 3rd time be the charm for BSU as they look to make school history with their first trip to a Final 4.

Glory Road doesn't get any easier for the Broncos should they pull off the upset win over #1 Oregon to make the Final 4.

Should they win, they would face off against the winner of #8 Michigan State/#3 St John's.

MSU defeated #1 Syracuse in Round 2, before dispatching #5 Indiana in their Sweet 16 matchup (84-56) to move on.

#3 St John's survived a OT forcing 3pt from #2 Pitt in a Big East matchup to earn their spot.

On the other side of the bracket, #1 Duke cruised past #5 UConn (90-75) and will face #11 UAB who is making a Cinderella story run after their (82-60 win over #2 Texas.

#1 Vanderbilt defeated #5 Hofstra (87-71) to earn their spot in the Elite 8, well #3 Maryland coming off a (93-91) win over #6 Georgia Tech, defeats ACC rival and #7 UNC (76-75) on a buzzer beater to earn their trip to the Elite 8.

        3RD TIME IS A CHARM!!!

Basketball fans around the world got the showdown they were hoping for as #3 BSU took on #1 Oregon, as both teams score over the century mark as neither team showed they were ready for their season to end.

The Broncos came into the game as the underdog, but showed no signs of knowing it as BSU takes a (54-50) lead into the half getting 8 huge points from "Walkon" Soph SG M. Kouyate in the final 2 minutes of the half.

        Coach Ryne-
"Kouyate was huge for us down the stretch hitting 2 big 3's and then grabbing a inbound pass and making a easy layup"
In the 2nd half the high power scoring continued as neither team showed much signs of knowing or wanting to play defense, and with less then a minute to play the score was 98-94, with the Broncos in the lead, and that's when things got crazy. Boise State would hit a big 3pt by Borges to give the team a 7 point lead with 42 seconds to play making some believe the game was over, but Oregon answered back hitting their own 3 and then stole the inbound pass converting a quick bucket to make it (101-99). Then over the course of the next 38 seconds we saw BSU convert 6 of 6 from the Free throw line well Oregon hit another big 3 followed up by a quick bucket to make the score 107-104) with 11 seconds to play. After another pair of FT's extends the lead to (109-104), Oregon again comes down firing a half court 3pt to make it (109-107) with 1.2 seconds to play. Humphrey takes the inbound and is able to run out the clock as the Broncos are headed to the Final 4 for the first time in school history.FINAL SCORE BSU-109 UO-107.

        KEY PLAYERS

        K. Stafford lead the Broncos with another double double of 27 points and 11 rebounds.

        R. Perkins added 14 pts in 14 mins but left the game early in the 2nd half with a injury.

        T. Moreno added 12 pts 4 reb 6 assits and 3 stls in a solid all-around game, well C. Humphrey added 8 points to go with his team high 7 assists.

The Big key to victory however was the play of the bench. C. Hannan stepped up with Perkins out and added 11 points with 9 coming in the 2nd half. Well SR B. Wilkins added 10 points converting 2/7 from 3pt. M. Kouyate added another bucket in the 2nd half to finish with a career high 10 points after entering the game averaging just 1 PPG over his career.

6'8 JR SF C. Lathum led the Ducks in the loss with 29 points and 7 rebounds.

BRONCOS WILL FACE SPARTANS IN FINAL 4

IF people didn't think #8 Michigan State was a contender for the National Title, they do know. The Spartans dominated #3 St John's in the Elite 8 matchup with a 100-60 victory. MSU shot 9/20 from deep including 5/9 from SR PG P. Detrick who scores scored a career high 41 points off the bench to lead the Spartans in scoring. Fellow SR SG B. Mombollet added 24 points as he hit's 13/17 from the charity stripe.

Detrick leads the Spartans in scoring with a 17.1 PPG despite playing in the 6th man role and is considered a lottery pick in next year's draft.

SR SF J. Fraser led St John's in the loss with 18 points on 2/7 from 3pt.

          DUKE ENDS UAB'S CINDERELLA DREAMS!!

#11 UAB dreams of Road to Glory ended in the 1st half of their matchup with the #1 ranked Blue Devils. Down 44-27 at the half, the Blazers rallied to score 42 points in the 2nd half but it just wasn't enough as they fall 89-63.

          #3 MARYLAND ENDS #1 VANDERBILT'S HOPE'S FOR TITLE

Gary Williams will look to add 1 more title to his resume as his career is coming closer to it's final season. With 679 career wins, Williams and the Terps will be making their 5th Final 4 appearance as they defeat Vandy 88-76.

SPARTANS SHOOTING ENDS BRONCO'S QUEST FOR TITLE!!

Michigan State shot 71% (39/55) from the field, 54% (7/13) from 3pt and 80% (20/25) from the charity stripe, yet Coach Ryne's squad hung tough till 2 minutes to play trailing by as little as 2 points with 4 minutes to play in the game.

MSU led 60-47 at the half, but a 13-2 run by Boise State to open the 2nd half made it 62-60 with 10 minutes to play. The Spartans answered with a 8-0 run which was met by the Broncos doing the same and with 4:12 to play it was still a 2 point game, but another Spartan run put Michigan State up by 10 and the Broncos were never able to recover ending Boise State's quest for a National Title. FINAL SCORE MSU-105 BSU-95

            Tom Izzo
"I give Coach Ryne alot of credit, he has built a very solid program at BSU. It's no longer just a football school. With the roster he has returning and some of the kids I have heard that I signing with him, I have no doubt he will be playing in multiple Final 4's in the next 4 years"
Well Boise State did a great job containing P. Detrick the Spartan star to just 8 points (2/5 from 3pt), they failed with the rest of the Michigan State backcourt. Starting PG M. Esterkamp led the Spartans with 21 points, well SF B. Farley (20) and SG B. Mombollet (19 pts 7 reb 4 assts) all had great games.

For Boise State it was SR T. Moreno playing in what will now be his last game leading the way with 25 points 5 assists and a team high 6 steals.

Freshman C. Borges added 19 points on 5/7 from 3pt, well fellow FR R. Perkins had 18 pts 5 reb and 5 assists.

Sophomore Center K. Stafford finished with just 13 pts and 4 reb as he played just 13 mins due to foul issues.
