    Re: A Legend Reborn II-College Hoops 2k8

    (0-0) VS (1-0)

    GAME PREVIEW

The Zags would travel to Boise coming off a 68-57 win over La Tech at home as new Head Coach Ron Hunter picks the "W" in his debut. Gonzaga would be looking to avenge last season's loss to the Broncos on their home court and spoil the debut of the Fab 3.

Going into the game Coach Ryan knew if his team had a chance to pull off the "W" the key to victory would be containing JR PG K. Mulligan and SR SF A. Zachary the Zag's leading scorers well also establishing a high scoring offense of their own.

    GAME RECAP

Gonzaga won the tip and scored the opening points, but after that it was a back and forth affair until with about 6 minute to play in the 1st half, the Broncos would come up with back to back steals plus force 2 more turnovers to make a 12-2 run. The Bulldogs however would recover making their own run at the end of the half (8-0) including a 3pt at the buzzer to make it a 1 point game (51-50).

    K. Stafford picked up right where he left off last season leading all scorers with 15 pts and 4 rebs, well Freshman Coy Borges added 14 pts on 3/4 3pt shooting.

Well leading at the half is something to be celebrated losing 6th man J. Fischer after just 2 minutes to a rolled ankle was not something Coach Ryan wanted to see. It turns out it's just sprained but Fischer is expect to miss the rest of the game as well as the Opening matchup vs #8 Oregon in the Polar Bear Tip Off.

For Gonzaga trailing by 1 and having 3 players in double digits is something Coach Hunter could celebrate. A. Sommerville led the team with 13 points despite picking up 2 fouls well A. Zachary added 12 and K. Mulligan added 10.

In the 2nd half both teams would continue to make runs. First it was Gonzaga going up by as much as 14 points (77-63) but then Boise would make a run of its' own as SR SG Bud Wilkins came up huge scoring 18 of his 20 points off the bench hitting 6/8 from deep after going 0/3 in the 1st half.

With 27 seconds to play it Boise led by 3 (95-92). Gonzaga had the ball but Cherokee Humphrey would come up with the steal and quickly dish the ball to Regis Perkins who would draw the foul. Perkins would hit the first of 2 FT's to make it (96-92). Gonzaga would look to score quick and then did as Zachary throws down a dunk to make it (96-94) with 19 seconds to play. Humphrey would take the inbound and draw the quick intentional foul sending him to the line where he would make his first 2 and only points of the game (98-94). Down by 4 with 19 seconds to play, the Bulldogs would inbound again looking for a quick basket but this time Zachary's shot finds to much glass as it takes a weird bound. A quick outlet to Cherokee Humphrey kept the Zag's from the quick foul as they finally make contact with just 9 seconds to play. Humphrey however is unable to connect on either FT leaving the Zags another last ditch effort. Mulligan drives the court and looks to create, but time is running out, his 3pt at the buzzer falls short as Boise State holds on for the win.
    FINAL SCORE BOISE STATE-98 GONZAGA-94

    KEY PLAYERS
    R. Perkins leads all scorers with 26 pts (2/5 3pt) as he scores 17 in the 2nd half despite sitting for a long stretch with 4 fouls.

    K. Stafford scores only 5 pts in the 2nd half but finishes with 20 and a team high 8 rebounds.

    B. Wilkins also scores 20 pts leading the bench unit as he finishes 6/11 from deep.

    C. Borges also was quite in the 2nd half scoring only 4 pts but 18 pts on 4/6 3pt is a great debut for the Freshman.

    C. Humphrey was 0/5 from the Field including 0/2 from 3pt and manages just 2 points but he did have a team high 9 assists.

    T. Moreno was quite on in the scoring column taking just 1 shot and converting a bucket and 1 to finish with 3 points, but he did add 6 rebounds, 6 assists and had 4 steals.

As a team the Broncos were 4/11 from deep in the 1st half, but managed to hit 8/14 in the 2nd half (Wilkins hit 6) to finish 12/25.

    K. Mulligan led the Zag's with 24 pts (4/8 3pt) and dished out 8 assists, but he also had 7 turnovers

    A. Zachary scored only 4 points in the 2nd half finishing with 16, well A.
Sommerville was held scoreless before fouling out with his 13 1st half points.

As a team Gonzaga was 4/8 from beyond the arc in the 1st half but finished just 9/22

    Coach Ryan after the game
"Well I am happy with the end result, this game proves we have alot to work on. I hate losing the rebounding battle and we didn't just lose it we got our butts handed to us (36/23) and with Fischer expected to miss the next game, I expect that trend might continue, so we will need to continue to shoot lights out from deep"

That’s a great win to open the season. That freshmen trio looks to be very, very good.

What sliders are you currently playing on? I only ask because I know mine are pretty difficult but I feel I may be putting myself at a serious disadvantage with them. I want to make the game difficult but not unrealistic to the point where my stars are struggling to hit layups or my "three-point shooters" aren't able to hit any wide open shots. Much appreciated!

I am at work, but I will look tonight and send them to you and I get you. It's a struggle, missed layups are the worst.

This team is going to be alot of fun to play with. I felt bad for Cherokee though. He is super quick, but ever time I would drive the lane for what looked like a easy bucket, the Zags would come up with a block on his layup attempt. PG is not normally a high scoring position for me as I typically run my offense through my SF, so I feel like Perkins is going to be the star well poor Humphrey is going to end up being a former 5* AA who never lived up to his potential.

              (1-0) VS #8 (0-0)

              GAME RECAP

The Opening Round of the Polar Bear Tip-Off at Eastern Washington's Reece Court, proved to be a exciting one until the final 3 minutes.

Oregon took the early lead (16-9) but a 8-0 run by Boise State put the Broncos up (17-16) at the 12 minute mark, as SR SG Bud Wilkins hits back to back 3's to give his team the lead.

The Ducks would answer back however with a 11-2 run of their own to close out the half taking a (53-41) lead into the locker room as SO SG B. Bucsher (former 5* AA #13 Overall/#4 SG) comes off the bench to score a team high 17 pts on 5/6 3pt shooting to lead all scorers.

The swing of runs continued in the 2nd half, with Boise State this time on the right side of it as they open up with a 20-8 run to tie the game (61-61) with 9 minutes to play.

2nd chance points however would plague the Broncos down the stretch (18-4) as Oregon proved why they are a Top-10 team. Down 94-78 with less then 2 minutes to play this ball game was over. FINAL SCORE UO-104 BSU-83

              KEY PLAYERS
              R. Perkins-17 pts 0/2 3PT 7/8 FT
              C. Borges-15 pts 3/7 3pt
              K. Stafford-14 pts 9 rebs
              C. Hannan-14 pts 6 reb (Bench)
              T. Moreno-12 pts 6 reb
              C. Humphrey-3 pts 4 reb 8 ast (1/6 FG 0/2 3pt)

              C. White-27 pts (11/20 FG 2/6 3pt)
              B. Buscher-23 pts (5/6 3pt)
              R. Sullivan-13 pts 9 reb
              T. Zahn-10 pts 9 reb

              Coach Ryan
"Overall I felt like we played pretty good basketball for 80% of the game. The problem is if you want a "W" you got to play it 100%, especially against a Top-10 program like Oregon. Out inability to get Borges and Wilkins open looks from deep really hurt us. With Bud struggling (0/4 3pt in 2nd half) and J. Fischer out of the game with a injury, it was a huge surprise to get 14 pts and 6 boards from C. Hannan. His play proves he deserves to get some more minutes moving forward. We will get our chance at a revenge game in Eugene in 2 weeks, so all we can do now is focus on winning these next 2 games and taking home the consolation trophy"

                BRONCOS BOUNCE BACK!!

After a disappointing Round 1 loss the the #8 Ducks, Boise State would bounce back to win their next 2 to take home the consolation trophy, well the Ducks went on to beat NC A&T (91-63) before beating SC Upstate (81-67) in the Championship.

VS (0-2) AUSTIN PEAY (Sim Results)
The Broncos would take a 37-24 lead into the half and cruise to a (68-59) victory as the Fab 3 leads the way.

                C. Borges led all scorers with 18 pts (4/5 3pt), well C. Humphrey has a career high 12 pts. Fellow Freshman R. Perkins also added 12 pts well leading the team in rebounds (9) and assists (4).

VS (1-1) E. MICHIGAN (Sim Results)
Again BSU would lead at the half (48-41) and hold on for the "W" despite shooting just 3/15 from beyond the arc. Final Score BSU-79 EMU-74

                K. Stafford led all scorers with 23 pts. R Perkins continues to shine as he adds 17 pts, well C. Borges has a solid stat line with 7 pts 7 rebs and 4 stls.
                J. Fischer made his return to the 6th man role after missing 2 games with a sprained ankle to lead the bench with 11 pts.

                  (2-2)

                  GAME RECAP
This one was over before it started. Despite continued struggles by the Broncos from beyond the arc, BSU found plenty of offense in the 1st half as they go into the locker room up (45-20) behind 12 points from T. Moreno.

Moreno,Stafford and Fischer would continue to dominate in the post against the Eagles, as the Broncos go on to win in dominating fashion. FINAL SCORE BSU-89 EWU-51

                  KEY PLAYERS
                  T. Moreno-18 pts reb and 4 blks (POG)

He is a beast. I really like Perkins alot too. Still trying to figure out a way to get Humphrey into the offense. I feel like there is added pressure to make him a star because of his former 5* AA Mr BB background.

                        BRONCOS KNOCK OFF #20 REBELS!!!

                        #20 (5-1)

                        GAME RECAP
When you think of UNLV most think of the high scoring team from 90's that scored 100 against Duke in the National Championship game. However entering the game it was actually Boise State that had the higher PPG avg (82 vs 77). This Rebel squad however proved they could still score in bunches hitting 4/9 from deep in the 1st half to take a (40-35) lead into the locker room.

A 8-0 run by the Broncos midway through the 2nd half gave them the 3 point lead with 4 minutes to play and that was the deciding factor as UNLV failed to connect on 3 straight shots from beyond the arc as they finish just 3/10 in the half. FINAL SCORE BSU-73 UNLV-70

                        KEY PLAYERS
                        T. Moreno-14 pts 4 reb
                        C. Humphrey-13 pts 5 ast 3 stls
                        R. Perkins-10 pts (2/4 3pt)
                        K. Stafford-6 pts 7 reb (early foul trouble limited him to a season low)
                        J. Fischer and B. Wilkins both score 9 pts off the bench

                        T. Ryan-13 pts 9 reb (former 5* AA #11 Overall, MWC POY last season)

                        Coach Ryan
"It felt really good finally getting C. Humphrey more involved on offense. Obviously have Stafford on the bench most of the 1st half hurt us. Limited Ryan to just 13 points was huge for us as he came in averaging almost 20 PPG"

BRONCOS EXTEND WINNING STREAK TO 6 IN A ROW AND 4-0 AT HOME!!!

                          **(Sim)**

The Pilots who started the year (3-0) including a OT win over Arizona State, but were coming off 2 straight loss's at home including a (77-71) loss to #17 Pitt and to make matters worse this game would mark their first road game of the season.

The Broncos would dominate the 1st half as they scored a season high 60 points in the 1st half (60-28). Portland would actually win the 2nd half but it was to little to late. FINAL SCORE BSU-86 PORTLAND-56

                          KEY PLAYERS
                          K. Stafford lead as scorers with 24 pts and grabbed a team high 9 rebounds
                          C. Borges added 12 pts hitting 3/4 from 3pt
                          C. Humprhey had 10 pts and 5 assists.
                          J. Fischer led the bench with 10 pts

                          D. Bigelow (5/8 3pt) and D. Watson led the way for Portland with 18 pts each. Both players came off the bench, and Watson actually added 10 rebs as well.

                          **(SIM)**

Unlike Portland, Idaho State has been a road warrior so far this season playing 6 of their first 7 games on the road going 3-3 as they entered the game (3-4) on the season.

It looked like it could be a lopsided win as Boise State led (37-26) at the half, but a season low 19 points in the 2nd half by the Broncos would lead to a Bengal comeback. But in the end it was just a little to much to overcome as BSU holds on for their 6th straight win.FINAL SCORE BSU-56 ISU-51

                          KEY PLAYERS
                          C. Borges led all scorers with 13 pts (2/3 3pt)

                          R. Perkins had 10 pts 5 reb and 5 assists well hitting 2/3 from deep
                          B. Wilkins led the bench with 10 pts

Idaho State was led by 7'3 JR Ray Gardner a local 2* from Pocatello who finished with 13 pts and 8 reb.

Coming off a 25 win season and Elite 8 appearance, and armed with 7 scholarship offers on would think Coach Ryan would have a very good chance of duplicating his Top-5 Recruiting class from last season in which he landed 3 players in the Top-36 including 5* AA Mr BB C. Humphrey.

Instead the results have been the opposite this season. In-Season Recruiting came and ended with zero players signing early with the Broncos and instead signing elsewhere.

Idaho's Mr BB (3* #180 Overall) SF B. Kelly spurs a scholarship offer by Coach Ryan and instead signs with WAC Rival Utah State. Kelly won't be the only one head to Logan next season as 4* PF O. Henry (Utah Mr BB/#53 Overall) also turns down Coach Ryan to head to the Aggies.

(Utah State also signed 2 more instate 3* players giving them 4 early season commits all in the Top-200)

2 more local 3* Recruits (6'7 PF D. Bosley/#332 Overall) and (PG D. Cable/#324) both sign with Washington State, after both getting scholarship offers from the Broncos.

7'1 Center T. Victor (3* Mr BB Alaska,#254) also turns down a scholaship to sign with Washington.

PG A. Root (3* Mr BB WA/#168) also picks WSU over the Broncos well 6'11 PF E. Sorenson (3* #189) picks Gonzaga and 7'0 T. Kovacvic (3* #233) will be joining Victor in Seattle as the duo looks to form a Twin Tower.

Rejection continued as 6'6 PF K. Thomas (NV Mr BB/#124 Overall) picks Oregon just before the BSU/Oregon rematch.

Here is a look at the current 6 players who now have scholarship offers going into the rest of year.

6'8 PF Prosper Melvin (5* Ranked #19 Overall and #3 PF) from Toronto Canada.
Melvin is currently at 60% and has Boise State at #3 behind Miss State and Stoney Brook (???) however neither school has offered yet.

6'0 SG Jasper Walcott (4* Mr BB MT, Ranked #69 Overall/#27SG) from Missoula MT.
Currently has the Broncos #1 at 94%, but WSU is a close 2nd despite not offering a scholarship at this time.

6'5 SG Donald Adams (4* Ranked #58 Overall/#21 SG) from Provo Utah

Currently has Boise at #3 and 63% behind Utah State and Colorado, however neither school has yet to offer.

6'7 PF Edgar Valencia (3* Ranked #166 Overall/#33 PF) from Los Angeles CA
Currently has BSU #3 at 57% behind Washington and USC but neither school is offering.

                              7'1 C Shawan Brower (3* Ranked #258 Overall/#16 C) from Oakland CA
Currently has BSU #4 at 65% behind Fresno State, BYU and Washington State, however only the Broncos have offered.

6'5 PG Patrick Mayes (3* Ranked #337 Overall/#106 PG) from Federal Way WA
Currently has the Broncos #2 at 62% behind Washington who has yet to offer.

                              Coach Ryan
"Honestly it wouldn't shock me if we only get 2 of our current 6 offers to sign, despite the fact we will have plenty of bench minutes available and a starting PF spot up for grabs." With 8 players returning next season if we keep both walkons we will be fine if that is the case, but at the same time the guys we currently have on our list are guy's we like and could be great depth for our team moving forward."

BRONCOS GET BLANKED IN DUCK HUNT

                                #4 (8-0)

                                GAME RECAP

The Broncos came into the game with revenge on their minds having fallen victim to the Ducks in Oregon's first game of the season in the opening round of the Polar Bear Tip-Off. The Ducks however came in ready to defend their home court where they they had won 4 of their 8 undefeated games, including wins over a (8-2) Iowa State team and (10-3) Pepperdine.

Oregon dominated the 1st half leaving little doubt they would hold on to their undefeated season as the Broncos struggled to find their shot from anywhere on the court as they went into the locker room down (41-26).

Boise State would match Oregon point for point in the 2nd half, but that's not a good thing if your trailing by 15. For the game Oregon finished 7/19 from deep, well BSU hit just 3/12. FINAL SCORE UO-75 BSU-60

                                KEY PLAYERS
                                K. Stafford lead the Broncos in the loss with his 2nd double double of the season (17 pts and a season high 15 rebs). No other Bronco hit double digits as the BSU get's just 15 points combined from the Bench.

Oregon was led by 6'7 JR SG C. White who finished with 20 points 6 reb 5 assists 3 steals and 3 blks. The 2009 Pac-10 FOY came in into the game averaging 19.5 PPG.
6'8 JR Forward J. Lathum added a double double in the win with 13 pts and 11 rebs
