Sacred Heart vs. St. Francis (PA)
    January 17th, 2009 @ The DeGol Arena
    Northeast Conference Game

St. Francis (PA) used clutch free throws to escape with a win tonight against Sacred Heart, 86-79.

The first half was dominated tonight by the Red Flash as they held a double digit advantage for majority of the half. St. Francis took at 10 point lead into halftime, 49-39.

The second half was a much different story, as Sacred Heart started the second half on a 6-0 run to pull within 4 points. After a back and forth affair with St. Francis leading by 3 with 1 minute and 30 seconds, Matthew Green hit his 4th three of the game to push the lead out to 6. After a missed shot by the Pioneers, they were force to send St. Francis to the line where they made enough free throws to escape with a victory.

Chas Daley dominated on his way to another double-double, as he scored 26 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Matthew Green scored 19 points and dished out a game-high 4 assists. Taj Lagana fought through foul trouble but managed to chip in 10 points.

Wallace Buckley erupted for 30 points tonight, as the Red Flash had no answer for the junior guard. Derrick Ballinger and Glenn Givens each scored 8 points.

St. Francis (13-5, 7-1) travels up to Connecticut to take on the Blue Devils of Central Connecticut State (10-9, 3-3) on January 22nd.

          January 22nd, 2009 @ The William H. Detrick Gymnasium
          Northeast Conference Game

St. Francis (PA) used a dominating first half to easily dispatch Central Connecticut State tonight, 73-38.

St. Francis played lights out in the first half as they quickly ran up the lead to double-digits to start the game. From there, the Red Flash kept up the pressure and at one point lead by more than 30 points. St. Francis used that momentum to cruise to an easy win.

St. Francis played suffocating defense tonight, as they held the Blue Devils to only 15 points at half. Central Connecticut State was held to 24% from the field, which included 29% from three. St. Francis shot 44% from the field and 38% from three. St. Francis also held the advantage in rebounding tonight, 41-32.

Chas Daley continued his outstanding freshman campaign with another double-double, he scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Matthew Green scored 17 points, including 5 three pointers. Ellis Matthews and Kalu Bradley each chipped in 9 points.

The only Blue Devil to reach double digits tonight was Gregg John, as he scored 10 points. No other player scored more than 6 points.

St. Francis (14-5, 8-1) takes on the only team to defeat them in conference play so far, Monmouth (12-6, 5-3) on January 24th at the William T. Boylan Gymnasium.

Fairleigh Dickinson vs. St. Francis (PA)
                      January 31st, 2009 @ The DeGol Arena
                      Northeast Conference Game

St. Francis (PA) held of the upset minded Fairleigh Dickinson Knightst, 96-85.

St. Francis started the game on fire as they ran out to an early double-digit lead. From there, St. Francis ran up the score to 20+, as the Knights couldn't stop the red hot Red Flash. Fairleigh Dickinson went on a 8-0 run to end the half to cut the lead down to 15 points.

St. Francis started the second half similar to the first as they ran out to a 12-0 run. However, the Knights were able to battle back due to St. Francis playing some lack luster basketball thinking the game was already over. The Knights went on a 17-0 run to cut the lead down to 8. Fortunately for the Red Flash, time was on their side as the Knights ran out of time to complete the comeback, falling 94-85.

St. Francis shot a blistering 52% from the field tonight, collecting 56 points from inside the paint. The Knights shot a respectable 44% from the field, including 31% from three. St. Francis also held a large advantage in the rebound department tonight, 44-35.

St. Francis was led by superstar freshman, Chas Daley, as he scored 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds for another double-double. Otis Graham came off the bench and scored 13 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Matthew Green chipped 12 and Kalu Bradley scored 11 points.

Sophomore guard Len Horner scored a game-high 27 points to lead the Knights. Rudolph Meredith scored 18 points. Arthur Rost scored 14 points and dished out 6 assists. However, he struggled shooting the ball tonight, as he went 5-25 from the field and 3-19 from three.

St. Francis (16-5, 10-1) travels to New York to take on rival St. Francis (NY) (4-17, 4-6) on February 5th.

                        Northeast Conference Game

Chas Daley and Taj Lagana each had double-doubles to lead the Red Flash past rival St. Franics (NY) tonight, 82-62.

The Red Flash front court dominated this game, as Chas Daley went for 17 points and 14 rebounds and Taj Lagana had 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Lagana also had 5 steals. St. Francis led from the beginning and never relinquished the lead again, as they kept the lead up to double-digits for the majority of the game. However, the Terriers were able to cut the lead down to 6 points half way through the second half. After a Red Flash time out, the Red Flash proceeded to go on a 14-0 run to hush any kind of comeback.

Both teams struggled shooting the 3 point shot tonight, as the Red Flash shot 12% (3-25) and the Terriers shot 16% (3-19). However, the Red Flash dominated the paint as they outscored the Terriers 46-24 inside the arch, while also holding a 46-37 rebound advantage.

Kalu Bradley and Matthew Green also reached double figures tonight for the Red Flash, as they scored 11 and 10 points respectively.

Senque Crenshaw scored a team-high 13 points in the lost tonight. W.B. Strawberry chipped in 12 points. Freshman 7'1 center Giddell Owen grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.

St. Francis (17-5, 11-1) gets back to action when they welcome Mount St. Mary's (11-12, 7-5) to the DeGol Arena on February 7th.

                          February 7th, 2009 @ The DeGol Arena
                          Northeast Conference Game

St. Francis (PA) dominated the paint tonight on their way to an easy victory over Mount St. Mary's, 84-61.

Mount St. Mary's never made a threat tonight, as they were blown out from the start of the game as St. Francis ran out to an early 13-2 lead. From there, St. Francis continued to build upon that lead, pushing it up to 25 points. However, Mount St. Mary's was able to put a little run together to bring the lead down to 13 points before halftime. Unfortunately for Mount St. Mary's, that was as close as they would get as St. Francis started the second half on a 16-2 run to put the game out of reach. The Red Flash cruised the remainder of the way.

St. Francis held a large advantage in the rebound department, 41-24. 15 of those rebounds were offensive. The Red Flash also held a 46-14 advantage in points in the paint. St. Francis also out shot the Mountaineers from the free throw line, the Red Flash shot 22 attempts (making 14) while Mount St. Mary's only shot 10 (made 9).

St. Francis was led by Chas Daley, as he dialed up another double-double as he went for 20 points and pulled down 16 rebounds. Matthew Green and Otis Graham chipped in 15 points a piece.

Shawn Withers led the Mountaineers in scoring tonight as he scored 11 points and had 6 steals. Logan Cross was the only other player in double-digits, as he scored 10 points off the bench.

St. Francis (18-5, 12-1) gets back to action on February 12th when they welcome Central Connecticut State (14-11, 7-5) to the DeGol Arena.
