          Quinnipiac vs. St. Francis (PA)
          March 6th, 2008 @ DeGol Arena
1st round of the NEC Tournament

St. Francis (PA) escaped the first round match up against Quinnipiac tonight, final score of 66-53.

The first half was an ugly one for both teams, as they shot a combine 0-20 from 3. St. Francis however, opened up a double digit lead early thanks to a couple of steals and fast break dunks. Both teams failed to shoot over 35% from the field. The Red Flash lead 35-18.

The second half was a completely different story for the Bobcats, they came out firing as they went on a 16-3 run to cut the lead down to 4. During this run, the Red Flash went 7 minutes without a made field goal. After a Red Flash timeout, the Red Flash went on a 8-0 run to push the lead back out to double digits. The remainder of the way the two teams seemed to trade baskets but fortunately for St. Francis, the Bobcats couldn't get any closer as time ran out.

St. Francis held a massive free throw advantage tonight, the Red Flash shot 17 attempts (14 made) compared to Quinnipiac's 6 attempts (4 made). The Red Flash also held a 43-34 advantage in rebounds. Out of the 43 rebounds, 16 were offensive.

Taj Lagana scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the victory. Aloyisus Konare managed a double-double as he scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Matthew Green chipped in 16 points.

Joe Whitworth and Patrick Green each scored 15 points for the Bobcats, they were the only players in double digits. Barry Parham scored 7 points and grabbed a team-high 9 rebounds in the lost.

St. Francis (PA) takes on the 4th seed Robert Morris in the NEC Tournament Semi-Finals on March 9th.

Robert Morris vs. St. Francis (PA)
              March 9th, 2008 @ DeGol Arena
              Semi-Finals of NEC Conference Tournament

St. Francis (PA) blew out Robert Morris in this Semi-Final match up tonight, 76-56.

Robert Morris was a serious underdogs tonight as their star player Senior Forward Raul Beauford who averages 15.5 PPG and 7.9 RPG missed tonight's game as he separated his shoulder in the first round. The Colonials couldn't get much done against a very aggressive Red Flash defense as they shot 38% from the field and including an abysmal 9% from 3. St. Francis built an early double-digit lead and never let up, extending the lead up to 20 points. St. Francis led by 15 at half.

The second half was much the same as the Red Flash came out firing, hitting their first 5 shots including 3 three pointers. The Red Flash cruised the remainder of the way, winning 76-56.

Although during this game, St. Francis was hit with an injury scare as well when Dommanic Fadipe came down hard after a foul, holding his knee in clear pain. Fortunately for the Red Flash, the tests came back negative and he is considered day-to-day.

Matthew Green poured in 22 points to lead St. Francis in scoring tonight. Emanuel Eisentrout came off the bench and scored 15. Taj Lagana and Ellis Matthews chipped in 10 points each.

Senior Guard Ralph Sylia, in his final game play scored a team-high 12 points. Howie Marsh came off the bench and scored 11 points. Kashien Owen missed out on a double-double as he scored 8 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

St. Francis (PA) advances to the Championship game as they take on 3rd seed Wagner, who upset the 2 seed Sacred Heart. The two teams split the regular season series, St. Francis will look to advance to the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1991 while Wagner will look to advance for the first time since 2003.

Championship Game of the NEC Conference Tournament

St. Francis (PA) defeated Wagner tonight to win the NEC Conference Tournament and earned an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament for the first time since 1991.

The game was even throughout the first half as neither team could really pull away from each other. Matthew Green hit a buzzer beating 3 to end the half to put St. Francis up 37-30.

The second half was very similar to the first as the Red Flash couldn't pull away from Wagner. Wagner tied the ball game up at 50 with about 8 minutes to go. That's when St. Francis went on a 8-0 run and Wagner wouldn't be able to get any closer as the Seahawks fell 79-70.

The backcourt duo of Matthew Green and Ellis Matthews scored 18 points each to lead the Red Flash to the title. Emanuel Eisentrout came off the bench and scored 12 points. Dommanic Fadipe, who wasn't sure if he was even going to play just missed out on a double-double. He scored 8 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Wagner was led by Philip Marsh as he scored a game-high 24 points. Senior Guard Bennet Worthy missed out on a double-double as he scored 13 points and dished out 9 assists. Deven Mendoza came off the bench and chipped in 10 points.

St. Francis (PA) now waits for Selection Sunday as they will found out what seed they will be and who they will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

                        St. Francis (PA) vs. Clemson
March 21st, 2008 @ St. Pete Times Forum
                        NCAA Tournament First Round

Clemson blew out St. Francis tonight in a first round match up, 106-55.

Clemson started the game on a 22-4 run and never looked back as the Red Flash were never in this game. At the end of the first half, the Tigers were up 61-27.

The second half wasn't much different as the Tigers coasted the remainder of the way. Clemson shot 64% from the field in the game, including 57% (8-14) from 3. The Tigers also shot 38 free throw attempts, making 30 of them (79%). The Red Flash was over matched on both sides of the ball tonight as not only could they stop the Tigers from scoring, they couldn't score themselves. St. Francis shot 32% from the field and including 21% from 3.

                        Coach Ellis after the game:
"This was a tough way to end our season. These guys have nothing to hang there head for. They accomplished so much this season and should be extremely proud of them. Hats off to Clemson, as they played a pretty close to perfect ball game tonight. They deserve all the credit in the world."

That concludes the season for St. Francis (PA), they finished 23-9.
