                Signing Period

St. Francis (PA) had three scholarships available due to a couple of transfers and landed 3 prospects.

                1. 3 Star Center (Overall 246, Pos. 21) Chas Daley 6'10 from New York City, NY.

                2. 3 Star SF (Overall 418, Pos. 94) Kalu Bradley 6'5 from Seattle, WA.

                3. 2 Star Center (Overall 463, Pos. 46) Otis Graham 6'8 from San Antonio, TX.

Coach Ellis on his first recruiting class:
"I'm extremely happy and excited to have these three men join my team. All 3 of them have a chance to earn significant minutes next season. I can't wait for our first practice."

Chas Daley is a big center and will come in and be St. Francis' biggest player. He is raw in his post game but is very athletic. He has a high vertical leap, he is an outstanding shot blocker and is very fast for his size.

Lalu Bradley is a jack of all trades, master of none. He has good size for the small forward position, he doesn't particularly shoot the ball well from the outside but he can use his quickness to get in the paint and use his body to finish. He also is an outstanding defender.

Otis Graham is more polished offensively than Chas is but he doesn't have the height nor the defense that Chas brings. Otis is a back to the basket post player who can use an array of moves to beat his defender. He is not a strong shot blocker and appears to be very raw on the defensive end.

                            St. Francis (PA) vs. Princeton
                            November 9th, 2008 @ Jadwin Gym

St. Francis (PA) opened up the 08-09 season with a win at Princeton, 70-60.

Both teams struggled from the field early, as both teams went 4 minutes without scoring a single point to open the game. Eventually both teams started to gather momentum and started to trade baskets back and forth. Princeton hit a buzzer beating 3 to take a 3 point lead at half.

The second half started and both teams couldn't pull away from each other until St. Francis went on a 12-0 run to take a 10 point lead with 5 minutes remaining. The Red Flash would cruise the remainder of the way, sealing the victory.

Both teams shot below 40% from the field tonight as the Red Flash shot 38% while the Tigers shot 35%. The big reason difference between the two teams tonight was turnovers, the Tigers had 10 while the Red Flash only had 3.

Matthew Green scored 20 points tonight as he looks to defend his Conference Player of the Year award. Taj Lagana scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Chas Daley scored 8 points grabbed 7 rebounds in his college debut.

The Tigers were led by 6'10 Center Antonio Karis as he had a massive double-double, 14 points and grabbed 18 rebounds. Armond Keeler was the only other Tiger to score double-digits as he chipped in 15 points.

St. Francis (1-0) welcomes UMBC to the DeGol Arena to kick off the home opener for the Red Flash.

Brutal loss to end your first season but congrats on earning the tourney bid. Fun follow so far. Daley should be a big-time player for you going forward.

Thanks man! And yeah, I’ve been playing this game for 10 years now and that might be the biggest whopping I’ve taken so far. I was surprised I landed Daley, thankfully neither Buffalo or Penn State offered him because they were ahead of me all season long.
