              St. Francis (PA) vs. Quinnipiac
January 31st, 2008 @ TD Bank Sports Center

St. Francis (PA) squeaked by Quinnipiac tonight, 82-71 in overtime.

The first half was a back and forth contest as neither team could pull away from each other, Joe Whitworth hit a buzzer beater to end the half to give Quinnipiac the lead, 33-31.

The second half was almost the same as the first as neither team could pull away from each other. With 1 minute remaining in the game and down 1 point, Matthew Green hit back to back threes in consecutive possessions to give the Red Flash a 5 point lead. The Bobcats came down and hit a 3 point shot of their own to make the game a 2 point contest. After St. Francis split a pair at the free throw line making it a 3 point contest, they elected to intentionally foul Quinnipiac with 5 seconds remaining to force them to the free throw line. After they sank the first one, he intentionally missed the second and Richie Restrepo pulled down the offensive rebound and made the game tying shot to force overtime.

St. Francis dominated overtime as they went red hot from the field while Quinnipiac seemed to miss everything they attempted.

Matthew Green led the Red Flash in scoring as he scored a game-high 27 points. Ellis Matthews scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and had 6 steals. Emanuel Eisentrout scored 11 points off the bench.

Joe Whitworth scored 22 points tonight to lead the Bobcats. Jerod Warsaw managed to have a double-double off the bench tonight as he scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Richie Restrepo only scored 6 points but managed to pull down 14 rebounds.

St. Francis (13-7, 8-2) gets back to action on February 7th when they welcome Long Island to the DeGol Arena.
