Trae Young dropped 42 points and was nearly unstoppable in the fourth quarter as the Hawks managed to squeeze out their 23rd win of the season against a red-hot Raptors team. He's so quick on the dribble, but if you play the drive he'll easily sink a few 3s over you.

          Around The League

          Up Next: Raptors (32-13) @ Spurs (24-20)

The Toronto Raptors head to San Antonio to take on a familiar face as they take on Demar Derozan and the San Antonio Spurs. The Raptors are fresh off a couple wins against the Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks as they continue to chase down the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference standings. On the other hand, the Spurs continue to fight for a hold over a playoff spot as they currently sit 7th in the Western Conference standings with a 24-20 record.

The Spurs will be without former Raptor Demarre Carroll as he continues to miss time with a fracture in his left hand. The Spurs will also be without guard Bryn Forbes, who is dealing with a rather severe right ankle sprain.

Magic, Heat Swap Ross and Hill
The Miami Heat added some back court help as they continue to vie for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, adding shooting guard Terrence Ross from the Orlando Magic. In exchange for the former Raptors, the Magic will receive power forward Solomon Hill and a 2024 2nd round pick. With a logjam in the front court, the Heat cleared some space on the depth chart and solidified their back court as the continue to sit in the middle of the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

              Up Next: Raptors (34-14) @ Pistons (12-27)

The Toronto Raptors look to wrap up their month of January with 13-2 record as they visit their former coach Dwayne Casey and the Detroit Pistons on Friday night. The Pistons and Raptors are clearly headed in opposite directions, as the Raptors are fighting for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference standings while the Pistons sit dead last in all of basketball with a 12-37 record.

With the Raptors leaning heavily on core players such as Kyle Lowry and Pascal Siakam in recent games, look for coach Nick Nurse to try to build an early lead so that he can pull his two stars out early to get some rest.

The Toronto Raptors should be plenty happy with how their squad is performing at the halfway point of the regular season. They've been able to avoid the injury bug thus far, and the results show it. Kyle Lowry is leading the Raptors' offence once again, in both the assists and points per game categories. Lowry's ball distribution is clearly paying dividends, as the Raptors find themselves with six players averaging ten or more points per game. The emergence of Norman Powell as a force to be reckoned with coming off the bench has really solidified the Raptors' rotation, giving coach Nick Nurse plenty of options.

NBA Announces 2019-2020 All Star Teams
Pascal Siakam was named the lone representative for the Toronto Raptors, and will suit up for Team Giannis.

A few days after announcing that Lebron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo would be the captains for the 2020 NBA All Star gam, the NBA has officially announced the teams that the two captains have selected.

Kevin Durant represented the first overall pick of the two team draft, with Lebron James taking his good friend with the first pick. Notably, one name missing from either roster is Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry, who has quietly put together a stellar season for the second place Raptors. Instead, the Raptors will be represented by Pascal Siakam, who was named to his first career NBA All Star team and will play for Team Giannis when the game takes place in Chicago next weekend.

Raptors' Ibaka To Miss 1-2 Weeks With Back Spasms

In some unfortunate news leading up to the trade deadline, the Toronto Raptors announced that big man Serge Ibaka will be out for the next 1-2 weeks as he deals with back spasms. While talking to the press, Raptors head coach Nick Nurse revealed that Ibaka played through the same injury earlier this season. With the re-occurence of the same injury, the Raptors have decided to sit out Ibaka for the next 1 to 2 weeks as a precaution. With the playoffs approaching, it makes sense for the big man to take some time off to recover.

Ibaka has been stellar for the Raptors since moving to a bench role this season, providing the Raptors with a scoring boost coming off the bench while bringing some added physicality on the front court for Nick Nurse and his coaching staff. Expect Montreal native Chris Boucher to soak up much of Ibaka's usual minutes during the big man's absence.

Raptors Stand Pat At Quiet Trade Deadline
The 2020 NBA Trade Deadline was one of the most uneventful in the history of The Association, with just one trade going through as most teams felt comfortable heading into the final stretch of the regular season.

Clippers Acquire Bradley, Morgan From Jazz
In the lone trade of the 2020 NBA Trade Deadline, the Los Angeles Clippers got some front court help by acquiring C Tony Bradley and PF Juwan Morgan from the Utah Jazz. Heading to the Jazz is SF Rodney McGruder and a 2020 2nd round pick. This is a classic example of two teams both dealing from their surpluses in order to find supplemental help for areas of need.

                            Raptors Targeted Wood?
As the trade deadline came down to the last few hours, there were rumours that the Toronto Raptors were close to striking a trade for Pistons power forward Christian Wood. With the recent injury to Serge Ibaka, it's a very plausible rumour -- although nothing ultimately came out of it. It was expected that the rumoured deal would have sent Raptors small forward OG Anunoby to the Pistons for Wood and a 2021 2nd round pick.

The Raptors got the best of the Pacers on Wednesday, and the Pacers will be looking to defend their home court on Friday.

The Raptors will be without Serge Ibaka, as he continues to miss time with back spasms.
