Love the player profiles. I was going to say that St. Fort may be underwhelming as a 3rd Overall selection until I re-read and saw this was his rookie season. A 15-10, overall good defending starting center as a rookie is crazy, if his perimeter touch improves that is an extremely good pro right there.

I might be off base for the factoid because St. Fort looks like a regular CAP to me but I'm going to go with Brian Grant and believe that the mod tool lets you remove facial hair!

It's absolutely Brian Grant, ding ding ding! I actually didn't edit the face at all. It seems like it's this face with this hair or something. But this is the Brian Grant cyberface that 2K has in its DB.

And yeah, the stats aren't out of this world, but he's the clear leader for RotY and impacts the box score in ways that don't always show up in stats. Plus, with Garland and Kevin Porter scoring so much, he isn't needed a ton.

I hope he progresses and doesn't plateau, because he and Garland are a killer combo, and he's already more impactful than the guy he replaced (Drummond).

PG and Harden in Atlanta? Interesting.

St. Fort is doing a nice job out there in Cleveland.

Yeah, Atlanta was desperate. They've hovered between 5-10 in the East for half a decade and something clearly needed to change. Their hope is getting 3 of the league's best shooters can help them make a charge for a top seed in the postseason, but there's not much of a track record of Young, Harden, or George having postseason success.

Houston managed to stay competitive this year while adding a lot of draft capital.

And St. Fort and Cleveland have been a huge surprise. I hope it's not a flash-in-the-pan and can be sustained.

Jan 21, 2025 Loyola Marymount at Gonzaga [WCC]

Oggy may have started to turn things around as started 2-0 in conference play after a big time win over St. Mary’s at home, 76-65. Herbert Nashif had 13 points, 14 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Immanuel Kahrimanovic had a near triple with 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists. They were up 51-28 at halftime before taking their foot off the gas.

This means the Lions already have more conference wins (2) than they did all of last season (1) and even though they lost their next conference game to Santa Clara 84-66, Lions fans have a small reason for hope.

Oggy and the Lions have a big test in today’s game as they head up to Spokane, Washington to face off against longtime WCC bullies Gonzaga. The Bulldogs are 11-5 overall, 2-0 in conference, and a good team. Though they haven’t reached the big time heights they did under Mark Few (who is now at Arizona) they are a solid team under Kevin Broadus.

The Bulldogs are led by senior Eduardo Clarke (PF, 80 ovr) who is scoring 19 points per game and is supported well by junior Benjamin Barley (SF, 81 ovr) and sophomore Mack Fitzgerald (C, 80 ovr) as they both score 10 ppg. Gonzaga is great at scoring near the basket, playing disciplined and patient. but they don’t have any players over 6’8” and no consistent three point shooters.

A subplot of this game is a looming milestone in Oggy’s career. He has 99 career wins and if he manages to pull out the upset toady he’ll get his 100th win in style.

It was a dream start for Oggy and the Lions, one that made him start to get excited for what he could perhaps turn this season into. Herbert Nashif scored 2 quick buckets and Gonzaga made 2 bad passes off of turnovers. The Bulldogs couldn’t score and then Kahrimanovic drained 2 threes – was he finally going to get hot? The Lions were up 10-0 and everything was going their way. Gonzaga was even missing their free throws.

However, things started changing for the worse. The game had slowed down and Loyola Marymount was only up 14-9 and needed to get Herbert Nashif back into the game. Unfortunately his addition didn’t help a lot and at 19-18 Gonzaga grabbed their first lead. Kahrimanovic was back to his old self and was missing everything and Salow was joining in the brick party.

LMU only scored 2 more points in the half and were down 34-20 going into half. Gonzaga had gone on a 34-10 run after the hot start from the Lions and Oggy was feeling miserable. Loyola was shooting 32% from the field and was 0-10 from three after their 2-2 start.

The second half was more misery, so Oggy started having a Coach Tovarich-esque internal monologue for much of the half:
            • Why is an 81 rated 3 point shooter missing everything? No wonder he scored 1.6 ppg at UNLV.
            • Did I just sub in a 59 overall walk on to play the 5? Am I an idiot? Why is this guy even on the team?
            • Was Mike Dunlap just a terrible recruiter? This team is awful and has no depth. That’s probably why he doesn’t have a job right now. God what have I done?
            • I like Nashif, but this is his last season. I’m stuck with the rest of these hacks for another year. Christensen looks like he plays for the Indiana Fever with how many layups he’s missing. Skip Salow can’t decide if he wants to be good or not.
            • I can’t wait until I have my own guys and these hacks are gone. 2026 seems so far away…be strong coach, be strong.

On the outside he just frowned and didn’t say much. The game ended at 74-53 and Oggy and the team headed back to the locker room then the Spokane airport.

Nashif finished with 26 of the team’s 56 points on 13-20 shooting. Skip Salow did finish with 16, but it was “empty calories” as a lot of it came in the second half when the game was out of hand. The rest of the team combined for 11 points. Kahrimanovic didn’t make a shot after the first 2 minutes and Reid Christensen went 1-6 with every shot coming from within 8 feet of the basket.

            Around the NCAA
            • St. Francis played 4 games and are now 15-2 overall and 6-0 in conference.
              • They had a major victory on the road at Virginia beating the Cavaliers 67-64 in a second half comeback. Floyd Akindele scored 19 and grabbed 5 boards, Stephane Diakite had 16, and Vern Quick had only 1 point and 4 turnovers but did get 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
              • Saw a humongous win over Monmouth, 94-43. Willingham finished with 18, 3, 3, and 4 steals. Akindele with 18, 5 boards, 4 blocks.
              • An 81-64 conference win over Central Connecticut State. Chris Thompson led the way with 15 and 7.
              • Another conference win, 79-57 over Quinnipiac. Akindele had 17 and Thompson with 12-10 double-double.

            • Long Island has had a great season so far, even better than St. Francis’. Jeremie Lalugba (C, 77 ovr) dropped 46 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in win vs Sacred Heart.
            • #3 Washington had a gauntlet of games with 4 games out of 5 against ranked teams and got wins in them all
              • Beat #5 Cal 85-83. Marcel Hudson (SG, 83 ovr) with 27
              • Beat #23 UCLA 91-86
              • Beat #22 Washington State 75-74.
              • Beat #12 Arizona 102-77. Pierce Channing (C, 76 ovr) with 21 points off bench

            • UAB finally lost, dropping a game to Rice 66-63 and then lost again 1 week later to Tulsa 84-68.
            • #16 Boston College defeated #9 North Carolina 92-87. Reggie Fisher (PF, 85 ovr) had 30 points.
            • Cal saw Washington’s gauntlet and added their own with wins over 3 ranked teams.
              • Win over #23 UCLA 73-71
              • Win over #12 Arizona 84-68
              • Win over #22 Washington state 67-54

                • Why is an 81 rated 3 point shooter missing everything? No wonder he scored 1.6 ppg at UNLV.

They were smart enough to get rid of him. I'm smart too. We'll just say this was a trade. We agreed on a player to be named later in return, right? Can I make it 5 in return?
                • Did I just sub in a 59 overall walk on to play the 5? Am I an idiot? Why is this guy even on the team?

Why did the last coach hate centers? Did he think the C next to their name was a grade? Nah, that would be an improvement. I wish he'd have recruited me some C players.
                • Was Mike Dunlap just a terrible recruiter? This team is awful and has no depth. That’s probably why he doesn’t have a job right now. God what have I done?

So many 3* players unrecruited, why did he sign all these other guys? Was he in a hurry and just handed out scholarships at the nearest grocery store to every tall kid who walked in with his parents? What did he need all the extra free time to do, interview for a new job? I'm not even sure that grocery store would hire him.
                • I like Nashif, but this is his last season. I’m stuck with the rest of these hacks for another year. Christensen looks like he plays for the Indiana Fever with how many layups he’s missing. Skip Salow can’t decide if he wants to be good or not.

Can I cut them all? Do I actually have to play this season? Can we just cancel it? No, the schools needs ticket and parking money. What kind of "personal reasons" can I make up to take a leave of absence? They're not even allowed to ask if I say that, right? The assistants can have all my losses. It's not like they do anything productive, so that must be why they're here.
                • I can’t wait until I have my own guys and these hacks are gone. 2026 seems so far away…be strong coach, be strong.

Can I secretly recruit on my leave of absence? They don't care what I do while I'm away, right? I sure would have more time to recruit without all these pesky games getting in the way.

                    What an absolutely incredible story.

I’ve slowly made my way through the previous 166 pages throughout the last few weeks and I am absolutely stunned.

The way you have managed to craft such brilliant world whilst also managing two completely different games is incredible.

For a while I got scared that it was going to suddenly end with the save issues you encountered while transferring games. I’m so glad you figured it out though. I have to say that the content has levelled up even more since the change.

I might have to pick your brain about how to utilise the tools/mods for PC. I’ve only just come back to 2K but I opted for PC because if the freedom/creativity it offers.

Thanks again for such an enthralling read. I can’t wait to see where things go next. Also, I hope that your wife has managed to find her way back to good health.

Yeah, that was frustrating. It turns out I can't have more than 3 saves before it breaks. It's dumb, but I have some workarounds.

Appreciate you. Just two weeks ago we finally got a possible diagnosis for my wife: MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome). Basically, it seems like this is a long-COVID related thing, and something called "mast cells" in her body are "excessively and inappropriately firing" because they thing she's allergic to something. Basically, she's literally allergic to movement and her body starts fighting it (sort of like an auto-immune disease) and her abdomen swells up like she's 4 months pregnant.

Thanks for the warm welcome, it’s very nice to be back. Well it’s certainly been a blast to read! I’m very much intrigued to see when one of the brothers make it to the NBA and what the landscape is like by that time.

I think I’m good on recommendations for now thanks, I read JoshNormanManes Wizards thread before I started on yours and I will now pivot towards Marshdaddy and the 200+ pages that await me there.

Very much appreciate the offer on the walkthrough. Feels a bit like I’ve opened Pandora’s box. Do you use many of the visual mods? Lighting etc. I’ll save that type of convo for a DM at some point anyway as to not clog up this thread.

Oh man, I’ve heard of that before and I sure hope for your families sake that it doesn’t become the permanent diagnosis. Sorry to hear about the difficulties that she’s still having, I can only hope somebody is able to get on top of things quickly.

Definitely, feel free to DM me anytime. I tend to focus more on custom courts, uniforms, faces, and tweaking things on the backend to make the dynasty more realistic/tailored to my universe.
