      Roster Overview:

Qb-No pot. over 75, definite need.
HB-No potential over 73, definite need.
      FB-No potential over 73, need.
      WR-Won't re-sign Berrian & I'll need some more WRs past Hester-need.
      TE-Olsen ok for now.
      LT-No pot. over 73, need.
LG-Ruben Brown is 35 and will be too expensive to re-sign.
C-Olin Kreutz ok for now, but he's past 30.
      RG-Garva 77 overall a backup-another need.
RT-John Tait 85 overall-Ok for now, but overpaid. A future need.
LE-Ogunleye 87 overall. He's 32, so this will have to be addressed.
      RE-M. Anderson-81/86-Ok for now, a future need.
DT-DT Tommy Harris doesn't fit the system, so will look to trade him.
LOLB-Hillenmeyer backup, will look to address. Future need.
MLB-Urlacher is 32, but my last dynasty his overall stayed around 92 or 93 the entire 5 years of my dynasty. I have bigger worries.
ROLB-Will look to re-sign Briggs unless I'm on the English path.

        Re: Bears Redux-A Bears Dynasty

18 Day Countdown and FA Period

Franchise Tag-Bears- OLB Lance Briggs, Bengals-RE Justin Smith, Panthers-RT Jordan Gross, Seahawks, K Josh Brown, Ravens-OLB Terrell Suggs, Raiders-CB Nnamdi Asomugha, Cowboys-LT Flozell Adams

Season Goals-Get a 85+QB, 85+HB, and 85+LT. The only one I will meet is the LT one, unless I luck out and get McFadden.

        RFAs-Gave WR Rasheed Davis 62 overall a Tender 1 offer(7th round).

Inside Info gamechanger-fully scouted WR Devin Thomas. He had a 79 potential with the Balanced WR philosophy.

        Cuts:

Cut HB Cedric Benson, SS Adam Archueleta, CB Ricky Manning, QB Rex Grossman, ROLB Darrell McGlover, and DT Dusty Dvoracek. This gave me about 14.5 million in cap penalties for next year.

        FA Period:

Traded TE Desmond Clark, HB Garrett Wolfe, and 6 (169) for LT Joe Staley-met LT goal.

Traded 2009 6th for FB Reagan Mauia.

Traded CB Truman McBride for Seahawks 6 (183) and 7 (218)

Mock Draft had me picking QB Joe Flacco at 14-I don't think so.

I signed a number of players during FA and traded them for picks. They will be listed below:

        FS Eugene Wilson-Chargers 27th overall.
        K Rob Bironas for Eagles 2 (49) and 2009 7th.
        K Jason Elam-Chiefs 3 (66).
        K Olindo Mare-Cowboys 5 (158) and 6 (189).
        K John Carney-Titans 4 (121).
        K Lawrence Tynes-Giants 3 (95).
        P Mitch Berger-Vikings 4 (114).
        P Matt Turk-Patriots 6 (191) and 2009 6th.
        K Morten Anderson-Rams 6 (162) and 7 (202)

        New Season Goals:

        Draft a sleeper
        Don't draft a bust.

        The 2008 Draft is next.

              2008 Draft-Round 1

              1-1-Dolphins-LT Jake Long

              1-5-Chiefs-DT Glen Dorsey
              1-6-Jets-QB Matt Ryan
1-7-Patriots-HB Darren McFadden-A disappointment. I had hoped he would fall out of the top 8, but there are other elite HBs in the game.
              1-8-Ravens-CB L. McKelvin
              1-9-Bengals-DT Sedrick Ellis
              1-10-Saints trade to Broncos for 1-12, 7 (212), and 2009 3rd-Broncos get LT R. Clady

              1-12-Saints-RT J. Otah
              1-13-Panthers-LT C. Williams
1-14-Bears-traded to Raiders for their 2009 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Raiders almost always finish near the last in 2008, and get a high draft pick in 2009. Raiders select LOLB J. Mayo.
              1-15-Lions-CB D. Cromartie
              1-16-Cardinals-CB M. Jenkins
              1-17-Chiefs-traded to Cowboys for 1-28 and 2009 2nd-Cowboys-HB C. Johnson
              1-18-Texans-DT K. Balmer

              1-20-Bucs-RT G. Cherilus
              1-21- Redskins-CB, forget the name
              1-22-Cowboys-traded to Bills for 2 (41), 2 (58) and 2009 6th-CB A. Talib

              1-24-Titans-TE J. Carlson
              1-25-Seahawks-HB R. Mendenhall
              1-26-Jaguards-traded to Cowboys for 2 (41), 2009 3rd, and 2009 7th-LT S. Baker
              1-27-Bears-SS Kenny Phillips
              1-28-Chiefs-LE L. Jackson
              1-29-49ers-QB J. Flacco
              1-30-Packers-HB Felix Jones
              1-31-Giants-WR J. Hardy
              1-32-Dolphins-WR D. Avery

A few words from Coach Smith-"A good SS was a definite need for us. The coaching staff all wanted Joe Flacco at 14, but I felt there was more value in what we received from the Raiders. Besides, I don't think he's that good. We're pretty sure we can pick up our QB and HB in the remainder of the draft."

There's a lot of good kickers in the 2008 FA period, especially if the Seahawks didn't franchise theirs. Never did understand giving up 2nd round picks for 30 year old kickers, but OK. I have seen kickers lose kicking power as they get older, so it can be a risk.

Heathy T, its always a season goal for the Bears to beat the Packers, so don't count on it.

                    Training Camp

At the start of training camp

Traded C Olin Kreutz to the Bills for 2009 2nd and 2010 7th.
Traded DT Tommy Harris to the Dolphins for 2009 2nd and a 2010 6th.

It's always a season goal to re-sign those 2, and I always take a big approval hit with the owner when I don't do it. I'm going to make sure it doesn't happen this time.

Traded CB Ricky Manning to the Patriots for their 2009 2nd.
Traded HB Aveion Cason to the Cardinals for their 2009 5th.
Traded HB Michael Pittman to the Eagle for their 2009 6th.
Traded FS Mike Brown to the Chiefs for 2009 2nd and a 2010 7th.
Traded CB Ty Law to the Seahawks for 2009 3rd and 2010 7th.
                    Traded 2009 5th and 6th for C Casey Rabach.

                    Season Goals:

                    Sign SS Kenny Phillips
                    Trade QB Trent Dilfer
Increase Brian Urlacher's Play Knowledge to 41%
Increase Lance Briggs PK to 41 %
Increase Nathan Vasher's PK to 38%

Traded QB Trent Dilfer to Falcons for 2009 6th and 7th
Traded FB Dan Kreider to 49ers for 2009 6th and 7th. I wish I hadn't done that one, because Stewart isn't a good blocking back. Oh, well.

                    Rookie deals:

SS Kenny Phillips-5 year, 9.6 million dollar deal, 2 million signing bonus, met goal.

                    RE Calais Campbell-4 year, 3.7 million, 500 K SB.

HB Ray Rice to 4 year, 12.2 million dollar deal, no signing bonus.

                    New Season Goals:

                    Play Dre Moore 50 downs
                    Play Calais Campbell 50 downs
                    Play Athya Rubin 50 downs

I've Mastered my defensive playbook and Learned my Offensive playbook, so I'm ready to play the 1st preseason games.

                      Re: Bears Redux-A Bears Dynasty

So I decided to run a test case with the 1st preseason game. I would sim a win, sim a loss, supersim a win, supersim a loss, and play a win/loss to see how many points my coach got. Here are the results:

                      Sim win-720
                      Sim loss-600
                      Supersim win-1,580
                      Supersim loss-840
                      Play 34-7 win-2,480 points

So the best thing to do to maximize your points for your HC is to play all the games if you have the time and patience. I think you could get 60,000 points in a season if you played and won all the games, 36,000 if you super-sim them, and 12,000 if you sim them. Here are the details of my 1st preseason win against the Falcons:

                      Urlacher-sack and INT TD
                      Steltz-INT TD
                      Campbell-2 sacks
Woodson 220 yds passing, Rice 82 yds rushing, Robinson 77 receiving yards.

Bought Major School Insider for my GM.
Signed K David Akers off waivers and traded him to the Saints for their 2009 3rd.

Just an observation about the game; my team played better than it previously had. I think it was related to having all my regular skills-strategy, performance, team chemistry, and playcalling at 4. I checked the practice when I did gameplanning after the game and the success rate was very high-around 97-100%. My offensive line played well, Rice hit the holes for big gains, the receivers caught the ball, and the defense sacked the QB and disrupted the passing game. It might be something to try next time someone creates a HC.

I agree that playing games will get you more points, but I am kind of enjoying running through a season in a day by simming.

I've also found that the computer reacts differently to plays in SIM than it does in actual Gameplay. For example, The Counter Play out of the Maryland I...when you sim that play...don't expect to do anything...I've had it in my playbook all my seasons in my current offense and it has a rating of like 15 averaging 1.3yds or something horrible like that...but when I play a game and run it, it dominates...especially with my FB2 subbed in for HB2...it's like taking a can opener to the D Line.

                          Rest of Preseason

I played the 2nd preseason game, then got hit with a Lis Franc Foot for Doucet(4-9 months) and Hernia injury for Briggs (3-7 weeks). I then decided to supersim the rest of the preseason and probably the regular season. I went 4-0 for the preseason.

I'm using default sliders. I'll supersim the 1st season, then play all games. I'm playing 14 minute quarters the first season. I'll post my roster next.

I decided to test it out too.
I started out with 16960 points.
                            Played the Raiders

                            Sim Win - Won 31-13 - 1055 points.
                            Supersim Win - Won 24-14 - 1780 Points
                            Play Win - Won 35-18 - 2230

So based on this and mrs844224's results (shown below)
                            Sim win-720
                            Sim loss-600
                            Supersim win-1,580
                            Supersim loss-840
                            Play 34-7 win-2,480 points

If ou go a perfect 19-0, you'll get these amounts, on average.

                            Sim Win - 16862
                            Supersim Win - 31920
                            Play win - 44745

So, it seems best to play (Obviously), but if you are pressed for time, it is much better to supersim than sim.
