    2008 Season-First Half

So some initial impressions after supersimming the first 7 games before the bye. Passing is way down, both in accuracy and TDs. Pancake Blocks seem to be much increased. INT are up, as are turnovers. I'm currently last in scoring points, but near the top in not allowing points. My record is 3-4 at the bye. Stats seem down overall, as is production to some extent. You do get more coach points, but I think I'd rather sim or play next time.

    Game 1-Colts 24, Bears 3

Doucet 64 rec. yds, Briggs and Steltz INTs
    CB Bowman-strained hamstring-4-9 weeks
    DLC-Lrn Dev DL 3

    Game 2-Bears 17, Panthers 14

    Hale pancake blocks, Staley 4
Campbell sack, Vasher & Steltz INT
    DC-DB Lrn Dev 2, QBC Perf 2, OLC-Perf 2, RBC-Perf 2

    Game 3-Bucs 21, Bears 6

Woodson 3 iNTs, Manningham 69 rec. yds,, Campbell sack
    Doucet sprained MCL-out 2-5 weeks.

    Game 4-Eagles 17, Bears 13

Glover 120 rec. yds, Tillman 2 INTs, Campbell sack
    DC-Phys Dev LB 2

    Game 5-Bears 13, Lions 10

      2008 season-2nd Half

So stats are somewhat reduced when you supersim the games, but not as much as I originally feared. I finished 8-8, out of the playoffs. Woodson had nearly 3000 yards passing, and Rice had 1000 yards on the ground. I only had 1 Pro Bowler, SS Craig Steltz. I finished the season with about 27000 points for my HC.

      Game 8-Bears 20, Lions 10

Rice 86 rush yds, Manningham 85 rec.
Vasher 2 INTs, Staley 4 pancakes

      Game 9-Titans 14, Bears 13

      Briggs INT

      Game 10-Bears 20, Packers 17 (OT)

I entered this game late in the 4th when I was down 3. 2 FGs did the trick.
Rice 93 rush, Doucet 108 rec. yds. Staley 4 pancakes, Urlacher 2 sacks

      Game 11-Rams 17, Bears 13

      Doucet 74 rec.yds, Manningham 77, Campbelll sack

      Game 12-Bears 20, Vikings 0

Rice 78 rush yds, Doucet 100 rec.yds, Tillman INT

      Game 13-Bears 21, Jaguars 20

      Woodson 286 yds passing & 3 TDs
      Doucet 126 rec. yds
      STC-Performance 3

      Game 14-Saints 28, Bears 11

      Doucet 106 rec.yds, Tillman INT
      Head Coach-Playcall 5

      Game 15-Bears 22, Packers 10

I entered this game as well. 2 TDs did the trick.
      Rice-84 rush, Urlacher INT
      Mid-Major Insider for GM

      Game 16-Texans 24, Bears 10

      Vasher INT

I'm in a hurry to get to the coaching changes, so I won't go into as much detail about the 2008 regular season stats as I normally do. Both the 49ers and Raiders finished 0-16, although the Raiders finished 32nd. I held the Raiders 1st round pick, which now means I hold the 1st Overall pick in the 2009 Zazzali draft! Both the Bucs and Colts finished 16-0.

It was a down year for the Packers. They went 2-14, HC Mike McCarthy was fired(and went to the Lions LOL), and they hired former Steelers DC Dick Lebeau as their HC. I'll go over all the coaching changes later. You're partly right though, it's no fun with a bad trainer and bad coaches. On the plus side, they'll get a high draft pick in the 2009 Zazzali draft.

            Coaching Changes

So, I'll go over what happened in the playoffs and the coaching changes next. I fired all my coaches except my STC. Here's everything that happened:

            Playoffs:

            Wildcard:

            Jaguars 17, Broncos 10
            Eagles 26, Rams 25
            Patriots 42, Texans 10
            Vikings 31, Cowboys 22

            Division:

            Colts 31, Jaguars 6
            Bucs 33, Vikings 0
            Patriots 38, Bengals 21
            Eagles 30, Giants 27

            Conference:

            Colts 35, Patriots 6
            Eagles 30, Bucs 16

            Super Bowl:

            Colts win 45-31 over Eagles

            Coaching Changes:

Retirements-GM Alan David-Raiders, OLC John Matsko-Ravens, OC Gregg Knapp-Raiders, DLC Dan Quinn-Jets, RBC Jim Skipper-Panthers, HC Romeo Crennel-Browns, Trainer Steve Parker-Ravens, GM Josh McClout-49ers, HC Mike Smith(the other one)-Falcons, OLC Dave Magazu-Panthers, OLC George Warhop-49ers, HC Mike Nolan-49ers, STC Al Everest-49ers.

Promotions: Panthers promote Richard Williamson to OC, Steelers promote John Mitchell to DC.

            My new coaches:

OC Jim Caldwell 56-Good all around. Most development skills are good, only Playcall doesn't go to 5. Special Skills-Ambition, QB Readiness, Improved QB Reads, Game Film Analysis, and Off-Season Seminar.

DC Pepper Johnson-38-Weak on Team Chemistry(if I remember correctly); all others go to 5. Good cap on developmental skills. Special Skills-Speed Training.

            QBC-Tom Clements-79-Performance goes to 4. SS-Quarterback Readiness.

RBC-Tom Rathman-61-I had to pay a stiff price to get Rathman to join me over the Cowboys. He insisted I lock both my HB and FB Philosophy. HB was Balanced which was OK, but FB Blocking to Ball Carrier was not. Still, I think he was worth it.

WRC-Brent McDaniel-26-Performance goes to 4. Ok cap on regular skills, and pretty good on developmental. No special skills.

OLC Tim Cobble-35- Perfomance goes to 4. No special skills.

LBC Mike Katkavage-40-Best linebacker coach in the game. His Ambition plus his personality guarantee he'll leave your team after a couple of years, but he's the best while you have him. SS-Ambition (hidden) and Strength Training.

DBC Dan White-17-Performance goes to 5, developmental skills are only average. No special skills.

DLC-Jim Tomsula-14- Performance goes to 4, good regular skills, and all dev skills go to 5. Lot of room to build up though.

GM-Guy Torrent-61-I never seem to get Darnell. Torrent's good, though. Trade negotiation goes to 3 and Contract Negotiation goes to 4. DB and TE development are the weakness; only go to 3. All other skills go to 4 or 5. No special skills.

Trainer-Arron Lee-99- One of the best. No special skills though.

            Other coaching changes:

            New HC-Gary Hammermill-Falcons, Dick Lebeau-Packers, Jim Westgate-49ers, Mike McCarthy-Lions.

Colts upheaval- After the Super Bowl-OC Tom Moore retired after the Super Bowl. QBC Jim Caldwell had left to become the OC of the Bears, so the Colts promoted Clyde Christiansen as OC. They fired STC Russ Purnell, and he is currently unemployed.

Position coach to HC-Lions RBC Kippy Brown made the jump to Ravens HC, and Cowboys DBC Dave Campo got the Browns HC job.

Other changes: Chris Staymates-49ers STC, Brian Stewart-Jets LBC, Chargers QBC John Ramsdell-Raiders OC, Stump Mitchell-Jets QBC, Don Miraldi-Panthers QBC. Jerry Gray and John Harbaugh got STC jobs.

18 Day Countdown and FA Period

Not a lot happened in this period. I'll mention where the major FA went, and I''ve included a Balanced potential breakdown of the 2009 Zazzali draft.

              Franchise Tag-Steelers LT Marvel Smith

              Season Goals: Acquire 85 +RG, 85+LG

              FA signings:

              MLB James Farrior 89 overall-2 year, 14.0 million-Bengals

              MLB Tedy Bruschi 86 overall-2 year, 10.0 million-Bucs

              RG Randy Thomas 92 overall-2 year, 12.0 million-Bengals

HB Ryan Grant-87 overall-3 year, 19.0 million-Broncos. This surprised me, he's only 25. I thought he would get a longer deal.

              DT Pat Williams-87 overall-2 year, 12.5 million-49ers

ROLB James Harrison-86 overall-4 year, 21.0 milllon-Steelers. Longest deal of the major FA.

              RG Stephen Neal 88 overall--3 years, 16.0 million-Jets

              C Tom Nalen-89 overall-2 year, 11.0 million-Broncos

              I signed P Shane Lechler 93 overall to a 2 year, 4.0 million deal.

I traded Brad Maynard to the Lions for 7-196 and a 2010 5th.

              2009 Zazzali draft guide.

I'm now going to include a 2009 Zazzali draft guide. Learning will be first, followed by Balanced potential. I'll include both school and comparison for most of the draftees.

                      Preseason 2009

Just a dominating preseason. I was going to play all 4 games, but the game froze with 3 minutes left in the 4th game. I was up 55-13 when it happened, so that irked me a little bit. I supersimmed the 4th game and won 24-6. I finished 4-0 in preseason.

                        2009 Roster

I'll go ahead and post the roster. Tait and Ogunleye will enter FA after this year, so that will help my cap status. Urlacher is the only 90+ LOLB, so i don't mind paying him 5 million. Vasher has a good deal for a Pro Bowl CB. Tillman is slightly overpaid, but not by much. I got Lance Briggs to a good deal. I'll go position, name, overall and potential, total cap, cap this year, bonus, and years left from left to right.

I realized some of the salary cap this year information was a year behind, so I'll go ahead and edit all this information.

                          Game 1-Lions at Bears

Like, WOW. Detroit turned out to be really good-at throwing the ball to my secondary. The game got out of hand early on, so 1 rested my starters the 3rd quarter. Woodson threw 4 TD passes, Rice ran for 100, and Vasher led the day on defense with 2 INTs. I beat the Lions 54-10.

Trades-I traded ROLB Vernon Gholston to the Bengals for their 2011 1st round pick. I then moved MLB Tiki Washington to ROLB.

Coaching Upgrades-I got Strategy 5 for my HC, Phys Dev OL 2-OC, Improved QB Reads- QBC, Int Dev TE 3-WRC, Lrn Dev LB3-LBC, and Small School Insider for my GM.

                            Game 2- Bears at Browns

So I wont go undefeated this year. This game was a battle of defense and special teams, and the Browns special teams won. I couldn't do anything at offense. The Browns were going to have to make a mistake for me to win this game, and they just didn't. The Browns won this game 14-7.

I made a change at RB prior to the Week 3. I traded for HB Darren Mcfadden 91/97, giving up 2 2010 2nds. I hate adding on additional salary, but I felt a upgrade at HB was necessary. McFadden was sitting 2nd on the depth chart in NE and wasn't getting much playing time. It might mean trading Tillman a year or 2 from now, if I can find a suitable replacement.

One weird thing; the Patriots made the trade when I didn't put any additional players on the trade block. I put Ray Rice on the block and the Patriots wouldn't trade McFadden. I guess the Patriots really wanted those 2 2nd rounders.

                                Game 4- Rams at Bears

I tried calling the plays on defense for the first time with good results. I got significant pass pressure on St. Louis and disrupted their passing game. My offense also seemed to do pretty good. McFadden had a big day thanks to a 68 yd TD run to start the 2nd half, and Gino King led the way on defense with 4 sacks. I beat the Rams 44-6.

Injuries-Charles Tillman recovered from his injury after the game.
