    The Cam Jackson Story

    The Cam Jackson Story

    Game:NCAA 12(PS3)

    Sliders:Sydeburnz's AA Sliders

    Roster:Schoene503

This is my coaching Dynasty for NCAA 12. I want to thank Sydeburnz's for his slider set, they are working great and the games are a lot of fun. I would also like to thank Schoene503 for the rosters, and all his hard work to make them what they are. I will be starting as an offensive coordinator, and hopefully getting a head coaching job asap.

    Re: The Cam Jackson Story

Cam Jackson,no one really knows who he is. Maybe you have heard of him,but probable not. He played college football at a very small community college in upstate New York. He only played 2 years and was a standout at tight end. After that he got a couple of offers from the Canadian football league,so he went north of the border and had an outstanding rookie season. But in his 2nd season,in just the 3rd game,he suffered a major injury to his left knee. His career was over.

For 2 years he sat at home depressed, not wanting to talk about football or even watch it on tv. Then one day he got a call from a friend that was a linebackers coach at Syracuse University. He said they had an opening for a offensive coordinator and he thought he could put in a good word for him with head coach Doug Marrone.

Cam had never thought about coaching before, but as he thought about it he became more and more interested. So he called his buddy back and told him he would talk to coach Marrone if he was interested in talking to him.The head coach was interested and they set up a meeting in Doug Marrones office.

The meeting that day went far better then Cam could ever imagine and he was offered the coordinator job on the spot. He couldn't believe it,he had never thought he would actually get the job. Doug Marrone would later say that he was so impressed with his knowledge of offensive, and the way he wanted to run it,that he had to give him a shot.So at 27 years old Cam Jacksons career as a coach was about to begin, and this is his story.

          Orange Roll 62-0

The Syracuse Orange football team got off to a great start today by routing the Buffalo Bulls 62-0 on Buffalo's home turf. The Orange offense was unstoppable and it looked like their new offensive coordinator made all the right calls at the right time.

The Orange racked up 497 yards of offense with Antwon Bailey leading the way with 123 yards and 2 touchdowns on the ground. Bailey was also named the player of the game.

          Photobucket">

Prince T Gully also scored 2 rushing touchdowns. With Bailey and Gully it looks as though the Orange have a nice 1-2 punch at halfback this season.

          Photobucket">

Lets not forget about the passing game though. As the Orange have a solid QB in Ryan Nassib and a really good tightend in Nick Provo.

          Photobucket">

The defense was fantastic against the Bulls only giving up 59 total yards of offense. They forced 2 turnovers and held Buffalo to -4 yards rushing. The defensive line got good pressure on the Bulls QB all game long, and the secondaries coverage was just awesome all day today. Coach Marrone had nothing but good things to say about the way the defense, and the offense played today.

So it looks like Cam Jacksons career is off to a great start. Jackson said after the game "We have really talented players at every position on offense and they showed it today. The pro style offense that we run fits the players on this team perfectly. As long as we keep executing the plays correctly like we did today, then we will be a very tough team to stop."

            Orange 2-0

The Syracuse Orange improved to 2-0 yesterday with a 27-19 win over the Nevada Wolfpack in the first game of the year in the Dome. The Wolfpack gave the Orange all they could handle, but in the end SU prevailed,as Ryan Nassib threw a late touchdown pass to fullback Adam Harris. That made the score 27-12 with less then 3 minutes to go to seal the game.

            Photobucket">

On the defensive side of the ball the Orange played really well in the 1st half, but in the 2nd half the Wolfpack started to move the ball. Shamarko Thomas led the team in tackles, but it might have been Shiriki Diabate, who made plays like this to help seal the win.

            Photobucket">

So with the win the Orange improve to 2-0 and look forward to Western Kentucky Hilltoppers coming into the Dome next weekend. Although Antwon Bailey was shaken up in the 4th quarter,he was named player of the game for the 2nd straight week.

              Re: The Cam Jackson Story

              What Happened?

That is what Syracuse is asking themselves after a terrible showing against the Hilltoppers from Western Kentucky. The Orange started of good, taking their first possession of the game down the field for 6 points.,but that would be it for the game. Ryan Nassib had a terrible game turning the ball over 4 times. The Hilltoppers were all over him all day.

              Photobucket">

The defense didn't play to bad for the Orange, but they were always in bad field position because of the offensive turnovers. Shamarko Thomas had a nice game, including this nice interception.

              Photobucket">

Also having another nice game was Shiriki Diabate. He has had a really nice start to the season. One of the tackles he made in this game forced a fumble, but it went out of bounds and the Hilltoppers retained possession.

              Photobucket">

On the first drive of the game Antwon Bailey was hurt and did not return to the game. We were told by the SU training staff that he is being treated for back spasms, and it was not known if he would play next week against Rutgers in the Big East opener. When asked about the offensives poor performance,Cam Jackson said "We really, really have to play better then that. If we don't we are gonna be in a lot of trouble."

                Cuse Loses 2nd Straight

For the second straight week SU was handed a home loss. This time it was the Scarlet Knights from Rutgers that were able to win in the Dome. It was thought that the Orange would win this game, but the defense was not good at all even though the offense was able to put up good numbers. Syracuse had a chance late in the game, but the Rutgers defense was up to the task and held on late.

Van Chew had a great day, racking up 116 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns.

                Photobucket">

On this play Chew was just able to get a foot in and hold on to the ball with his finger tips for 6 points.

                Photobucket">

Nick Provo also had a good game. On this play he was able to balance along the sideline on this play and make the catch for a 1st down on a 2nd and long.

                Photobucket">

Prince T Gulley filled in nicely for Antwon Bailey who was out with back spasms. Gulley ran for over 100 yards for the second straight game. After the game coach Doug Marrone was happy with the offensive production, and was praising the play calling of offensive coordinator Cam Jackson. As for the defense, Marrone said "We must get better, and we must get better now."

                  Orange Loses 3rd Straight

For the 3rd straight game the Syracuse Orange have lost. This time at SMU on a field goal as time expired. The Orange defense played much better this week only allowing 1 touchdown, but the offense struggled again this week. Again the running game provided most of the offense for the Orange as Ryan Nassib seemed to struggle again. It was the defense that kept the Orange in the game with plays like this by Shamarko Thomas.

                  Photobucket">

Even though they kept the team in the game, the defense couldn't stop the Mustangs from driving down the field and kicking the game winning field goal as time expired.

                  Photobucket">

Even though the Orange offense could move the ball, they had trouble punching it into the endzone. Ross Krautman missed 2 more field goals again today as he continues to struggle this season. Syracuse heads next week to Ball State hoping to end a 3 game losing streak. Doug Marrone said again "We need to get better, now!"

"We need to score touchdowns in the red zone and not field goals. That is what cost us the game more then anything today, and I blame myself for that more then the kids on the field. I make the calls and I made the wrong ones today in the red zone."

Syracuse Snaps 3 Game Losing Streak

After 3 straight loses, the Syracuse Orange finally get their 3rd win of the season. The won this week like they lost last week, with a field goal as time expired. The offense got off to a great start scoring 3 touchdowns in the 1st quarter. Even though they racked up over 500 yards of offense, they once again after the 1st quarter struggled to find the end zone. This week though they were able to be the last team with the ball and win it at the end.

                    Photobucket">

Late in the game the Orange needed to convert a big 4th and inches so they gave the ball to Prince T Gulley and he came through with "flying" colors you could say.

                    Photobucket">

One reason the offense was so successful was because of the passing game and receiver Van Chew. The leading receiver on this team he added to those totals including another touchdown.

                    Photobucket">

Both head coach Doug Marrone and offensive coordinator Cam Jackson were thrilled with the way the offense played today. The defense struggled stopping the other teams offense again today. With all the ups and downs so far this season I think we can say that the 2nd half of the season should be very interesting.

I think that sums it up. What else is there to say? There is not one good thing to say about the defense. The offense however did have a good day. Ryan Nassib had his best day of the year. Antwon Bailey had his usually day, and Dorian Graham, since filling in for the injured Alec Lemon, has come to life, and is playing great. He is seen here after scoring his 2nd touchdown of the game.

                      Photobucket">

Van Chew continues to be the #1 receiver, catching passes like this along the sideline.

                      Photobucket">

Lets not forget about Nick Provo, a very talented tightend in his final year, and having a good one at that. He is seen here catching another touchdown from Ryan Nassib.

                      Photobucket">

Head coach Doug Marrone declined to make a comment after the game. When we caught up to offensive coordinator Cam Jackson all he would say was that he was proud of the whole team. The truth is the offense was the only good part for the Orange today, and we know the coaches do not want to talk bad about the defense.

Last Second Loss Again For Orange

Another tough game ended in a loss for the Orange. For the 4th time this season the SU football team found themselves in a tied game coming down to the end. And for the 3rd time in those 4 games the Orange have lost on a last second field goal. This week it was the Louisville Cardinals that did it by kicking a field goal with 2 seconds left. This pass was the closest the Orange came to the endzone at the half way point of the 3rd quarter, but the receiver landed out of bounds.

                        Photobucket">

Later in the quarter the Orange would score their first touchdown on a pass to Van Chew, who made a great leaping catch in front of 2 defenders.

                        Photobucket">

Half way through the 4th quarter with the Cardinals now up by 7, the Orange had a 9 play drive (7 runs) that ended with Antwon Bailey going over the pile from the 1 yard line to tie the score.

Doug Marrone after the game was again not happy with the defense, and he has vowed not to talk to the media until his defense plays better. As far as the offense goes Cam Jackson said he was very happy with the direction of the offense. "As the season goes along we seem to be getting better and we are executing the plays much better." Cam Jackson said after the game. We'll see how they do next week when the Orange take on their former coach as the travel to UConn.

                          Syracuse Falls To 3-6

The Syracuse Orange dropped another close game this week, this time in Connecticut to the Huskies. In the first half neither defense could stop the others offense, but in the second half the defenses played much better, but the Huskies held on to win. There were moments when it looked like Syracuse might be able to end their losing streak, but UConn was always able to turn the tables back in their favor. In the play below UConn fumbled on a punt return and Orange fullback Adam Harris was able to jump on it and get his team the ball back.

With just 4 seconds left in the first half and the ball at the Huskies 44 yard line, and the Orange trailing 35-20. Syracuse decided to throw a hailmary and it was answered as Jeremiah Kobena went up and got it to end the half.

Late in the 4th quarter with the Orange trailing 42-27, Van Chew did what he does best. He caught a long pass from Ryan Nassib and ended up in the end zone once again, but it would be to little to late.

Again after the game Doug Marrone refused to talk to the media because of the way his team played. There is know doubt that there is a big problem with the talent level on the defensive side of the ball for the Orange. The offense keeps producing great numbers in both yards gained and how many points they score. With 3 games to go though Cam Jackson has to be worried about his job. Even though he runs the offense and they have been very good, it could be the defense that gets him fired.

                            Syracuse Wins 37-17

Syracuse was able to end their 3 game losing streak today with a huge win over South Florida. To become bowl eligible the Syracuse Orange must win their final 3 games of the season, and they did just that today with a big win over the Bulls. Knowing that they had to win, the whole team came together and played a great game. The offense moved the ball and the defense was just awesome in the second half. Half way through the 2nd quarter, trailing USF 17-7 Syracuse took over. The defense only allowed 2 first downs the rest of the game, as Syracuse outscored the Bulls 30-0. The defense was led by plays like this by Marquis Spruills.

Ryan Nassib hooked up with Van Chew (again) for this long touchdown pass. The Nassib-Chew connecting has been great all season for the Orange.

With this win coach Doug Marrone has finally broken his silence about his teams performance saying, "We finally played a good game. I will not say it was a great game, but it was a good game. It was a great win for us and we need to continue to play this way." With that said the Orange will take all the momentum into next weeks game as they host the Cincinnati Bearcats.

Late TD Lifts Bearcats To Victory

With a late touchdown pass from Legaux to Chisum, the Cincinnati Bearcats beat the Syracuse Orange on senior day in the Carrier Dome. The Orange trailed by 21 at the half, but rallied for 24 unanswered points to take the lead with less then 2 minutes to go, but the defense was unable to stop the Bearcats when they needed to at the end. Ryan Nassib had a good day until he threw an interception on the last drive to end the game, but in the 1st quarter with a long pass to Alec Lemon, Nassib set the single season school passing record.

Phillip Thomas forced a fumble late in the game and the Orange thought that would seal the victory for them, but they went 3 and out and gave the ball right back to the Bearcats for the victory.

In the end the Bearcats upended the Orange handing them their 7th loss of the season, and taking away any chance the Orange had at a bowl game.

Doug Marrone said after the game that he was proud of the way his team came back, but he was very upset with the way the team finished the game. If Syracuse can ever get their secondary to play better, they would be a really dangerous team. The offense just keeps racking up the yards, but they can't always out score the other team.
