Re: The Cam Jackson Story
4-8
That is the final record of the Syracuse Orange for the 2011 season, and they were just 1-6 in conference play. Expectations were for a much better season then this, but it was not to be. The offense was very good all year, until they ran into the Pittsburgh defense that is. The Panthers held the Orange to just 10 points. Early in the 1st quarter QB Ryan Nassib went out of the game with an injury and would not return. That would come back and haunt the Orange, as they were unable to move the ball very good the rest of the game. So with Antwon Bailey already out for the season, the Orange were missing 2 big parts to their offense. After Nassib went out it seemed the whole team was just brought down by it, and Pittsburgh was able to do what they wanted from that moment, all the way to the end. The whole season is summed up in this 1 picture.
">
Several seniors were playing their last game for the Orange. Besides Antwon Bailey who will be missed a lot in the running game, Nick Provo had a great year and will really be missed as a great receiver and a run blocker.
">
With the season over Doug Marrone said "We are gonna be better next year. I know that for sure, because there is know way you can go threw a season like this and not learn anything. The fact is we learned a lot and we will apply it towards next season, and we will be better."
Offensive coordinator Cam Jackson had a 1 year contract with the team, when asked if he would be back he said "I don't know yet. I need to sit down with coach Marrone and see were we stand."

Re: The Cam Jackson Story
It was the end of his first season as a coach, and Cam Jacksons contract was up. He had know idea if the University was going to offer him another one or not. After all the Orange only won 4 games, although the offensive side of the ball had excelled all season. All the coaches were told to go home and take a week off. Cam didn't know if he was a good coach, but he felt like he had done a good job.
Just 3 days in to the week Cam got a call. It was from coach Marrone, he asked him to come and see him at his office. So the next day Cam found himself in coach Marrones office talking about his future.
Coach Marrone told him he was very happy with the way Cam handled the offense and would like him to stay on. Cam was offered a 3 year contract by coach Marrone. He was shocked, he didn't expect that at all, and Doug Marrone saw the look and asked if everything was ok. Cam said he was fine and on the spot accepted the offer.
So with a new contract signed for the next 3 years, Cam thought to himself that maybe he was doing something right, and maybe he wasn't such a bad coach after all. So he took the rest of the week off, then he got to work for 2012.

Re: The Cam Jackson Story
Syracuse Moves To ACC
Syracuse University today made an announcement that starting this season they will be moving from the Big East to the ACC. This shocked Syracuse fans as they are one of the founding members of the Big East. Syracuse coach Doug Marrone said that he thinks it is a terrible move because Syracuse belongs in the Big East, but understands it is a business and the University has to do what they think is best.
Syracuse moving was not the only announcement that came out today. The Pittsburgh Panthers also said they are moving to the ACC. Thats not the end though here is a list of all the movement during this offseason in the NCAA.
TCU goes to the Big 12. Missouri and Texas A&M have gone to the SEC. All the following schools have decided to join the Big East. Boise State, Montana, UCF, SMU, Navy and Houston. There may be more moves in the future, but for now these are all the moves.
On a side note, in case anyone is wondering. I made a Montana team using San Diago States roster. I did not change any ratings on the roster, I just used the roster as is and made it Montanas. Then before I started I replaced San Diago State with Montana.Comment

Re: The Cam Jackson Story
Easy First Win For Orange
The Syracuse Orange traveled to Boulder,Colorado for their first game of the season this week, and it was a pretty easy win for the Orange. They rolled over the Buffalos 38-16. The defense, which we know was the main priority in the off season, looked pretty good, but a couple of times they let receivers get behind them resulting in big gains. That is exactly what cost them games last year.
As far as the offense was concerned, they looked sharp rught out of the gate, scoring a touchdown on their very first possession of the season. The new offense that was put in place during the off season seems to have worked out pretty good so far. In case you didn't know the Orange switched from a pro style offense to a multiple offense. Ryan Nassib threw 3 touchdown passes to 3 different receivers to start the season. The 1st one went to Jerrad West.
">
The Next one went to Tight End Beckett Wales, who just does make it across the line for 6.
">
The third and final one went to Alec Lemon who looks to be Nassibs number 1 target.
">
Head coach Doug Marrone said after the game that he was very pleased with his teams effort and that he thought they should be able to put that kind of effort out on the field every week. Every one on the team seems to like this new offense that Cam Jackson has installed, and that is great news. The season is off to a great start, but a tough test awaits them back in Syracuse as the Miami Hurricanes come to the Dome next week.

Re: The Cam Jackson Story
Syracuse Was Caught In The Storm
Things were going the Oranges way. There was 3:14 left in the 1st half and Syracuse had just stretched their lead to 24-14 on a Terrel Hunt 85 yard touchdown run. That was the last score Syracuse would get on this day. The Miami Hurricanes went crazy after that going on to win the game 63-24. After SU scored that touchdown it was like somebody flicked a switch, and Miami could do no wrong, and Syracuse could do no right. It looked as though the Cuse would pull an upset.
">
But the Hurricanes were just to strong and they just pounded the Orange for the rest of the game.
">
">
Syracuses defense could not do anything to slow down Miami in the 2nd half, and the offense was just shut right down. Doug Marrone has already vowed to keep quit after games like this, and we have been told that none of the coaches will be making a post game statement today. I guess there is know need to, as the score speaks for itself. Syracuse now starts a 4 game road trip that begins at Georgia Tech. It could be another long season for the Orange.
