    SU Gets First ACC Win

On a day when everyone thought that the Syracuse Orange would fall to 1-2, the Orange shocked them all. The SU football team traveled to Atlanta and just put #15 Georgia Tech down, that's the easiest way to say it. The Orange dominated from start to finish. The Yellow Jackets offense could never get their option attack that they use to work very much on this day. No matter what way they tried to run the Orange were there to stop them. Hits like the ones you see here were very common for the Orange defense all day.

    Photobucket">

    Photobucket">

The hits caused 3 Georgia Tech fumbles, and 2 were recovered for touchdowns. Syracuse had a fumble of their own that lead to one of the Yellow Jackets scores.

    Photobucket">

Because of the win, after the game the Syracuse coaches had plenty to say about their win. Offensive coordinator Cam Jackson was asked how he thought the new offense was coming along. "It's coming along good. Sometimes are better then other times, and the running game has not been as good as we wanted, but the passing game is doing a great job. There still is a long way to go in the season, and we are improving every week." We will see if they can get the running game going this week as the Orange prepare to travel to Florida State.

      FSU Blows Out SU 59-31

Syracuse tried to keep up with Florida State, but they just didn't have the power. The offense could hold it's own, but the defense had know chance in slowing down the FSU offense. It seems the SU offense is able to move the ball up and down the field against anybody, but the defense is having trouble stopping the better rated offenses. As you can see in these pictures the FSU offense was just awesome.

      Photobucket">

      Photobucket">

      Photobucket">

Doug Marrone again would not answer any questions after the game. He just stood there and shook his head saying "I don't know what to do with the defense." As always none of the other coaches came out to talk either. I guess we will have to wait until next week and see if the Orange can win at North Carolina State.

Thanks for reading. Yeah FSU was pretty good. That Thompson kid at HB was unreal, we could not stop him.

            N.C.State Holds Off Syracuse

The North Carolina State Wolfpack were able to hold off the Syracuse Orange down in Raleigh, North Carolina yesterday. The day started out terrible for the Orange getting in an early 14-0 hole, but they turned the tides in the 2nd quarter keeping the game close till the end. The Orange had a couple of chances in the 4th quarter, but were unable to capitalize on them. The wolfpack got a late touchdown to seal the victory. The loss drops SU to 2-3 overall and making them 1-2 so far on this road trip.

            Photobucket">

With their second straight loss, Syracuse coach Doug Marrone, who usually does not talk after a SU loss, said that he was very proud of the team for getting behind and then getting back into it. He also said that he thought offensive coordinator Cam Jackson was doing a great job working this new offensive system in, and that the players are responding well to it. The Orange have 1 more road game to play before heading home to the Dome for a game, and they know it will be another tough game.

              3rd Straight Loss For Orange

For the 3rd straight week the Syracuse Orange have gone down, and for the second straight week they had a chance in the 4th quarter. Trailing 24-19 with less then 3 minutes to go, the Orange QB Ryan Nassib threw an interception at the goal line that was returned 100 yards for a touchdown. Instead of SU taking the lead late, they let Boston College seal the win with that play. That play overshadows the fact that Ryan Nassib threw for a career high 397 yards.

              Photobucket">

Even though the Orange lost again, they have been staying in games until the end. Doug Marrone was not willing to talk after this lost, but offensive coordinator Cam Jackson said "These kids know they need to finish games, and they know that they are not doing that right now. We also need to somehow get the running game going. Our passing game is great, but if we could run the ball better, then the passing game could get even better." The road trip finally ends and Syracuse gets to come home and play Clemson, another very good team.

                Another Game, Another Loss

The Orange continued their losing way with a loss at home to Clemson. Syracuse couldn't even get the ball in the end zone in this game. The Orange are having a lot of trouble once they reach they red zone this season. They seem able to move the ball right down the field until they get to the red zone, and then things seem to go bad. Clemson did a good job of keeping the Syracuse passing game under control, but on the bright side, SU ran the ball better. Freshman Travis Pendleton ran for a career high 144 yards, and seems to have taken over as the number 1 back for the Orange. Although the running game is looking better with Pendleton getting the most carries, it still does not make up for a 4th straight loss.

With the 4th straight loss, head coach Doug Marrone had 1 thing to say to the media,"WE STINK, PERIOD!" It was short and sweet, or should I say not so sweet. I think he hit it right on the head with those 3 words. Syracuse needs to get better and fast.

Yeah no kidding. The offense is not bad, but my defense is horrible. They can't stop the passing game at all.

                      UNBELIEVABLE!!!

I think that sums up this game. The Orange dominated the first half leading 27-7 at halftime. The Orange looked unstoppable, putting up points at will, and shutting down the Houston offense in the first half. The second half would be a different story. You would think that the players switched uniforms at halftime. Of course that was not the case, and the Orange just wilted away in the second half. Trailing 31-27 with less then a minute to go, Ryan Nassib throws a touchdown pass to Alec Lemon that gave the Orange the lead 34-31. It looked as though the were gonna hold on and get a win, but Houston answered in just 3 plays retaking the lead and winning the game on a huge touchdown pass by Cougar QB Piland.

With this devastating lost behind them now, the SU football team looks forward to finishing up with 4 games at home. The only Syracuse coach to come out and talk to the media was Cam Jackson."Coach Marrone sent me out here because he said the only good part of this game was what the offense did, but I really am not that happy with our second half performance, so I have nothing else to say." The Orange are headed home to Syracuse to face Maryland next week.

                        FINALLY

It's over, Syracuse's 5 game losing streak has ended. The Orange were able to beat Maryland in overtime this week 43-40. For the second straight week the Orange built a big halftime lead, and the lost it in the second half. This week they lead 31-10 at halftime, but again their offense went flat in the second half and the other team came roaring back. The difference this time is that the Orange were able to win the game.

Ryan Nassib continues to show why he leads the nation in passing yards, throwing for almost 400 yards again in a game. That seems to be the Oranges best way to move the ball this year, as their 2 freshman receivers (Toth and East) continue to have great years. The running game has continued to get better. The needs to get better, and the whole team needs to start petting together whole games.

Doug Marrone was excited about his team finally getting a win last night saying, "We were able to finally hold on and win one. We still have to put 2 halves of football together, but we are getting closer. The defense has a way to go, but they are working hard. The offense has been awesome all year. Cam Jackson is doing a wonderful job calling plays and putting points on the board."

With only 3 games left in the season, the Uconn Huskies come to the Dome next week, and the Syracuse Orange think they can score another win. We will have to wait and see.***There are no pictures this week, SORRY***

                              SU Goes Down Again

For the 7th time this season the Syracuse University football team has lost. Despite forcing 6 turnovers, the Orange still gave up 35 points. That has been the downfall of the team all season. The defense has not been able to stop the other team. The offense which has been the bright spot all season, has struggled in the red zone this season. That was really the case this week as they just couldn't do anything once reaching the red zone. Ryan Nassib had his worst game of the season and the running game was pathetic to say the least. This game was by far Syracuse's worst of the season. The numbers might not indicate that, but if you had seen the game you would have agreed.

Of course Doug Marrone, head coach of Syracuse didn't have much to say after the lost. In fact he just stood there shaking his head for about a minute , then just turned and walked away. Reporters waited for another 30 minutes, but it became obvious not one coach was coming out to say anything about the game. That was alright, because I don't think there was much to talk about anyway.

                                Syracuse Upsets #5 Pittsburgh

Don't tell the Syracuse Orange football team that they are not suppose to beat a top 5 team, because that is what they did. What an exciting game this was. With the Orange trailing 35-27 and 3 minutes to go, Ryan Nassib, who by the way would set the single game passing record for Syracuse with 430 yards in this game, and broke the season mark with 1 game to go still, took the Orange down the field and with 1:30 left threw a touchdown pass to Alec Lemon. The 2 point conversion failed, and still down by 2 tried an onside kick. The Panthers recovered the kick, but Syracuse forced them to kick a long field goal. With the kick good the Orange now trailed 38-33, but they had the ball and a minute to go. With 12 seconds to play, Nassib threw a long pass that was caught between 2 defenders in the end zone by Jarrod West to win the game.

Following the game Doug Marrone said that he always believed that this team could play with some of the best in the country, and they proved that today. All the coached that we talked to after the game had big smiles on their faces and all talked about how happy they were the way the team played and stayed positive through the whole game. All the coaches stated that they feel confident that the team will win again next week, and finish the season strong.
