Eagles Lose 2nd Straight
Eastern Michigan suffered their 2nd straight loss this weekend, losing at Central Michigan 28-14. The Eagles offense could not really get any thing going all day long. QB Mark Iannotti, who has been pretty good so far this season, was just awful in this game. There is no other way to put it. He completed just 15 of 36 passes and threw 5 interceptions.
The defense played a really good game until the 4th quarter. Then they fell apart and gave up 18 4th quarter points. In fact through the first 3 quarters, neither offense could do very much. Both defenses played well, and both offenses looked bad. In the 4th quarter things changed, the Eagles defense looked bad and the CMU offense looked great.

"Our offense was the worst I have seen it this year. We can not play this bad, we have to play better then this. We need to play at the top of our game every week for us to win. And our defense needs to play 4 quarters. Today they only played 3, if they would have played 4, we would have won." Those were Cam Jacksons words after the game. He is right, they had a chance to win even with all the turnovers. We will see if they can get back to winning next week as the travel to Buffalo to take on the Bulls.

Eagles Lose 3rd Straight
For the 3rd straight game the Eastern Michigan Eagles were handed a loss. This time it was at the hands of the Buffalo Bulls. Again the Eagles offense struggled to move the ball, and the defense struggled to stop the passing game of their opponent. If there was a bright spot to the offense in this game, then it was the play of their backup quarterback Jacob Williams. Coach Jackson inserted him in the middle of the 3rd quarter, and he played really well, leading the Eagles to their only touchdown of the game. This will raise questions on who should be the starting QB on this team.
On the defensive side of the ball, the Eagles are still having trouble stopping the passing game. I think more then anything for the Eagles it's the amount of talent in the secondary more then the defensive playcalling itself. The Eagles lack the talent from the years of not being very good, but they are doing better then last year. Coach Jackson has said that one of his concerns is getting the secondary better, and is recruiting hard to do just that.

He will start next week, but, we might have to make a change again, and I might not wait so long next time. These kids were made aware of that at the beginning of the season, and know we might make a change at anytime" That was Cam Jacksons after the game today. He did not talk about the game at all, and we assume that is because he is upset about the results.

Eagles Lose Again
For the 4th straight week the Eastern Michigan Eagles have lost. This week it was at home to the Ball State Cardinals. The Cardinals were able to win after an exciting 4th quarter that saw the Eagles score 10 points in less then 4 minutes to tie the score at 20. However on the next drive Ball State broke a big touchdown run to regain the lead for good.
The Eagles offense continued to struggle through out the game. At one point Coach Jackson replaced his QB, but then in the 4th quarter he put his starter back in the game. Both QB's struggled in the game, but Mark Iannotti was able to move the ball better then backup Jacob Williams. The Eagles also suffered the loss of Darren Robinson, their leading rusher. He looks like he will be out for about 6 weeks with a back injury.
The defense actually played a solid game, but not solid enough to bail out the offense. For 3 quarters the defense was able to keep the Cardinals offense in check, but they looked like they wore down some later in the 4th quarter. They were on the field more then they usually are, and I think it showed late in the game. The Eagles offense has to start to control the ball better and put some points on the board, if this team wants to win another game this season.

"We are not playing good football right now. We need to get better, at every thing. We can do it, and I keep saying we because I mean all of us. The players, the coaches, everybody that has anything to do with this team, we all have to get better. If we don't start playing better, then I will start replacing more players out there until we find some one who wants to get better." Cam Jackson with very strong words after the game. Maybe the team will listen this week and start playing the way they did the first 2 weeks of the season.

Eagles Lose In Double OT
The Western Michigan Broncos and the Eastern Michigan Eagles played what turned out to be an instant classic football game yesterday. A game that was started by the Eagles jumping out to a lead and then the Broncos coming back on them to take the lead themselves. After that the Eagles would come back on them and get the lead back and hold it until there was just less then a minute to go, when the Broncos were able to tie it up and send the game into overtime.
In overtime the Broncos got the ball first and were held to a field goal by the Eagles. When the Eagles got the ball they were unable to get a touchdown and had to settle on a field goal of their own, sending the game into a 2nd overtime. In the 2nd overtime period the Eagles again had to settle on a field goal and the Broncos were able to take advantage of that. On the Broncos first play of the 2nd overtime the Broncos were able to get a touchdown pass to win the game.
Yet again for the 3rd straight game starting QB Mark Iannotti was replaced by backup Jacob Williams. Williams did a great job of leading the team in the 2nd half. Coach Jackson has been saying that Mark Iannotti is the number 1 guy all season, I wonder if this might change his mind. Jacob Williams has played well when he has been in there, and it might mean that it is time for a change at QB.

After the game we waited for Coach Jackson to come out and give the press a statement, but he never showed. In fact no coaches showed up to make any comments after the game. Although we did here a lot of yelling coming from the locker room after the game, but we are unable to print any of what we heard. For the Eagles, the 2-0 start and hopes of a good season are going away quickly as they now have lost 5 in a row.

WOW!
On a day that was windy, wet, and cold, the Eagles were able to come up with a 80 yard touchdown pass on the last play of the game to steal a win away from the Temple Owls. As the quarterback shuffle continued for the Eagles, it was the number 1 guy, Mark Iannotti that led the team to victory today. He was able to throw 2 TD passes in the game, including the winning one as time expired. Neither QB played very well today, but the defense was able to keep them in the game all day long. When Jacob Williams was in the game he was able to throw for a score and run for a score.
In fact the defense is the story of the game. They were able to hold Temple scoreless in the 2nd half, and allow their offense to finally make some plays late in the game. The defense looked really good today as they switched from a 3-4 defense that they had been using all year long, to a 4-3 defense. It seems, at least at this point, that the change seems to be the right move. Only time will tell though.

Coach Jackson was thrilled after the game saying "WOW! What a game! I can't believe we pulled that off. I'm not surprised that we won, but to win with an 80 yard touchdown pass as time expires. It's an exciting win, and I am sure the fans loved it, but I don't want to go through to many of those again." He also went on to say what a great team that Temple is and how he thought they had come such a long ways the last couple of years.
"I can't wait until next week. We really needed a win like this."

The Eagles Get Rocked
On a cold day in Michigan, the Eagles were totally overwhelmed on the football field by the Miami Redhawks 55-27. The Eagles had high hopes of getting another win today, but the Redhawks were just to much for them on this day. The offense had trouble all day moving the ball only gaining 288 yards. Maybe the only bright spot of the day was that halfback Tim Johnson continues to run the ball really well. Other then that the offense was pretty bad on this day.
As for the defense, well they might have been worse then the offense. Allowing over 500 yards to the Redhawks offense, and giving up 55 points. The defense showed no sign of even being able to slow down their passing attack, and the running game was also very good for the Redhawks.

Coach Cam Jackson was not happy at all after the game saying, "We were horrible today. We did not even show up to compete today. I thought we had a good chance to get another win going into this game, but I guess I was really wrong." The Eagles need to fix something as next week they have a tough test ahead of them as the Syracuse Orange come to town.

Head Coach Cam Jackson has head this game circled all season on his calender. It was his first chance to face his former team, that he used to be offensive coordinator for, as a head coach. His team did not let him down.
Although they started slow in the 1st half, they got it going in the 2nd half scoring 32 points and holding the Orange to just one score. It was the play of quarterback Mark Iannotti that led the team. In the 2nd half he completed 13 of his 14 pass attempts for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. The running game was also solid keeping the ball moving all through the 2nd half.
The defense played their best game of the season, hands down. The were strong all day long, keeping the Syracuse offense off balance all day. We say signs of how good this team could actually be if they played this well every week. The were able to hold the Orange offense to just 208 yards of offense all day, and just 162 yards passing, which has been their weakness all season.

"We played our best game of the season, no doubt about it. I think we were just about perfect in the 2nd half of that game, and when we play like that we can win any game on our schedule. It was nice to see some of the kids that I helped recruit for that team, and see them doing really well over there. Also it is always a little extra special to beat a former team, now though we have to put it behind us and get ready for the next game." Cam Jackson said after the game. Hopefully the team can keep playing this good for the last 2 games of the season.

EMU Knocks Off NIU
In a game that was a defensive battle, the Eagles were able to hold off the Huskies of Northern Illinois 17-10. The Huskies came in with a 7-2 record, and favored to win the game, but the Eagles had other ideas. Although the offense struggled, QB Mark Iannotti stepped up and had a good game throwing 2 touchdown passes, including one late in the 3rd quarter that ended up being the game winning score, but it was the defense that was the story.
Needing a big game because of the offense not being able to move the ball a lot, they were able to keep stepping up play after play to hold the Huskies to only 10 points. NIU came in as one of the best rushing teams in the nation, and the Eagles defense was able to hold them to just 61 yards rushing all day. The pass defense, which has struggled all season again played well and held the Huskies to less then 200 yards through the air.

I think this team is better then people give us credit for, and that's alright, we like being the underdog. We still have one game to go though and we want to finish the season strong." Eagles Win Again
The Eastern Michigan Eagles were able to win their 3rd straight game, and finish the season at 6-6 becoming bowl eligible. They did it by beating the Kent State Golden Flashes 31-15 and dropping the record to 1-10 on the season. The Eagles offense was very good racking up over 400 yards of offense. They were lead once again by QB Mark Iannotti who threw for 267 yards and 2 scores. He also ran for 44 yards and made some big plays with his scrambling.
The defense was once again fantastic. Holding the Golden Flashes to just 219 yards of offense, and just 51 yards through the air. Kent was able to run the ball pretty good, but when they tried to pass the Eagle defense just was wonderful. All season long the pass defense was the weakness of this team, but the last couple of weeks it has been maybe their biggest strength.

"That was another great win for us. Now we have a chance to play in a Bowl game. Even if we don't get an invitation to a Bowl game, we still will be happy with how are season ended. Now the Eagles just have to wait and see what happens for the post season.

The Eastern Michigan Eagles have been selected to play in the......something Bowl, who care except maybe the 2 teams that are playing in the game. The Eagles will play the Arizona State Sun Devils who are also 6-6. The Eagles have shocked the college football world by winning their last 3 games of the season. Maybe more shocking is this team was able to win as many games as they could after being 0-12 last year.

ASU Burns The Eagles
In a Bowl game that maybe neither team belonged to be in, the Arizona State Sun Devils crushed the Eastern Michigan Eagles 51-17. The Eagles were not able to get their offense going at all on this day. Mark Iannotti senior QB for the Eagles, playing in his last game, played well but not well enough to lead the Eagles to a victory. To even get close to winning the game he would have to had played his best game of the year, maybe of his life because the defense was not good at all.
The ASU offense was able to torch the EMU defense with big play after big play all day long. They were able to gain over 400 yards passing and over 550 yards of total offense. The EMU defense just had no answer for them all day. So even though the Eagles had a season that no one thought was possible, they still ended up with a losing record.
