Tallahassee(AP)-What was supposed to be a normal summer for Florida State Football as now turned into complete and utter shock. The great Bobby Bowden has decided to step down and leave the program to younger hands. "Shoot I was out on the golf course the other day and was thinking I may not be able to enjoy this dadgum much more if I keep on coaching. I think I have done just about all I can. If my good friend Joe(Paterno) wins more games than me, well the the old grizzly can have the record. After losing a grandchild, I started thinking more and more about it, but decided to keep coaching. Now though, I have the time to stay at home with Ann(his wife) or visit with the kids and grandkids. Plus watching Tommy will still keep my heart beating a little faster in the fal months."
So with that announcement, FSU AD, Dave Hart, already has the great one shoe's filled. He has decided to go with a coach who is only 31 years of age. This same coach helped guide Louisville to a conference championship and a spot in the OS Vets innagural season playoffs. While they fell victim to Oklahoma, his name was now out there and became one of the hottest commodoties in the likes of Kirk Ferentz, Urban Meyer, and Bobby Petrino. While the list of potential candiadate was large, Hart gave Coach Kodiak a phone call and he quickly agreed to return to his alma matta. "I will miss everyone of those kids in Louiville. But my heart has always been with Florida State and I told myself and family that if the situation ever arose we would go withouth hesitation." Coach Kodiak's words could not have been more true, as he inked a 3 year deal reported to be around $750,000 as a base per year. He will also get appearance fees, two cars, and a country club membership. When asked about replacing such a legend, he simply responded with, "No one can ever replace what Coach Bowden has done for college football and the university." Coming into fall practice, Kodiak looks to improve an offense that has the weapons but has often underprodeuced in the last couple of years. Heres to hoping he can put FSU back on the warpath.
