    A "Knight" to Remember?? -- A CH2K7 (PS2) legacy

    Platform: PS2
    Mode: ***Coach Mode*** - All-Conference
Sliders: (please see coach mode thread in ch2k7 forum)
Play/sim: What's sim???? (all games will be coached)

    Intro:

West Point, NY -- After just 20 overall and six Patriot League wins in coach Jim Crews' first four seasons, Army has announced that he has resigned his position as head coach of the basketball team. The academy has announced that Bob Knight, a relatively unknown but successful high school coach, has signed to be the new head coach of the Black Knights' basketball program.

"I am a great admirer of the way that my namesake, Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, has done and handled things throughout his career and I am told that I am a much younger version of him."

"We have an experienced team with four returning starters from last season. I feel that we could be competative this season with senior guard Matt Bell and junior guard Jarell Brown leading the way."

"Coach Knight is a fiery coach who demands a lot out of his players." - Bill Raftery (sp), college basketball analyst and commentator

Please Note: this is on the ps2. Due to a steals bug with this version on this platform, the steals statistic will not be included in either the game or team stats.

A special salute and thanks to anyone here that is or was a member of our armed forces. Without you, we would all probably be speaking either german or russian by now.

        Re: A "Knight" to Remember?? -- A CH2K7 (PS2) legacy

West Point,NY - A small crowd, if you can call it that, was on hand as new basketball head coach Bob Knight held the team's intra-squad scrimmage. Coach Knight stated that he liked what he saw for the most part although there is a lot of room for improvement. There were a couple of positions up for grabs and here will be the open game's starters:

        Code:
        PG Cory Sinning
        SG Matt Bell
        SF Jarell Brown
        PF Corban Bates
        C Jimmy Sewell.
        -Comments from Coach Knight:

Cory Sinning did a better job than returning starter Marshall Jackson in running the offense and will start at point guard.

Matt Bell and Jarell Brown are the best shooters on the team and although Brown is a little small for the forward position, he should do well as I will go with a three guard lineup a majority of the time. Bell is a sharp shooter and is deadly from 3-point range when he gets going. Brown has shown great confidence and is not afraid of putting up a shot. He can be very dangerous from beyond the arc.

Corban Bates and Jimmy Sewell should be a decent rebounding combination.

I will basically be running a flex offense and my defense will be primarily man-to-man with a little 1-2-2 zone thrown in.

Stetson Holds Off Army In Opener, 74-68

It's the opening game of the 2006-2007 season for the Army Black Knights under new head coach Bob Knight as they take on the Stetson Hatters.

              First Half
The game starts off slow with Thomas leading Stetson to a four point lead, 9-5. After a jumper by Bell, Army trails 9-7 with 15:00 remaining. The Black Knights goes on a 7-0 run and takes the lead behind Bell and Brown. The lead changes hands a few times and after a layup by Lang, the Hatters are up by one, 15-14, with 10:00 left. The teams continue to struggle offensively and after a jumper by Carter, Army trails by three, 21-18, with 5:00 to go. A 5-0 run by the Black Knights puts them in front before Blair hits a jumper and later two free throws to regain the Stetson lead. The game continues to go back and forth with Richard hitting a 3-pointer to give Army the lead with a few seconds to play. Smith sinks a prayer at the buzzer from half court to give the Hatters the lead at the half, 33-31. Army's Bell leads all scorers with eight points while Blair leads Stetson with seven.

              Second Half
Stetson goes on an 8-2 run to begin the second half and after a 3-pointer by McMillen, the Hatters stretch the lead to nine, 44-35, with 15:00 remaining. Two 3-pointers by Brown puts Army to within five then McMillen sinks a 3-pointer and a layup to build the lead back. After a short jumper by Zastoupil, the Black Knights trail by 8, 51-43, with 10:00 left. Sinning and Brown lead Army on an 8-0 run to tie the game before Lang and Thomas each put in a shot to rebuild the Hatters lead to four, 55-51. After the teams trade a couple of baskets, Stetson leads 59-55 with 5:00 to go. Brown gets hot and puts the Black Knights to within a basket after sinking a jumper and a 3-pointer with :42 to play. After Thomas sinks two free throws, Bell hits a 3-pointer with :32 in the game to within one but Hirst, Okafor and Thomas hit clutch free throws to hold off the Black Knights and ice the game.

Happy Veterans' Day from Mizzou Arena as the Army Black Knights take on the host school of the John Thompson Classic, the Missouri Tigers in the second game of the round-robin format.

                  First Half
Army starts the game on a 6-0 run before Lyons is able to hit a short jumper to end the run. Lyons slams one home and puts in a layup but Army counters with two free throws by Jarell Brown and a short runner by Bates to put the Black Knights up by 4, 10-6, with 15:05 remaining. Marshall Brown puts in a hook shot for Missouri then Bell hits a 3-pointer to spark Army on an 11-0 run. Zastoupil puts in the last two baskets of the run to extend the Black Knights' lead to 13, 21-8, with 10:00 left. The scoring slows down as the teams are trading turnovers and missed shots. Butterfield taps in a missed shot to put the Tigers to within 10, 24-14, with 4:30 to go. Missouri's Lawrence puts in a layup then a red hot Carter leads Army on a 9-2 run as he scores 7 of the team's points during the run. Sewell puts in a hook shot with :30 to play and the Black Knights take a 15 point lead into halftime. Missouri's Lyons leads all scorers with 10 points while Carter leads the Black Knights with 7.

                  Second Half
Both teams continue to turn the ball over and after Jarell Brown puts in a couple of free throws, Grimes puts in 1 of 2 as Army leads by 14, 37-23, with 15:00 remaining. Horton gets red hot for Missouri, scoring 7 points during a 9-0 run before Jarell Brown stops it with a 3-pointer. The Tigers go on a 6-0 run and after Bell hits a 3-pointer to stop it, Horton hits a layup to put Missouri to within 3, 43-40, with 10:00 left. Missouri becomes cold again as Bell and Jarell Brown lead Army on a 9-0 run to boost the lead back to 12. Lawrence hits a layup to start the Tigers on a 6-0 run until Sewell banks in a hook shot to stop the run. After Hannah puts in a short jumper, Jarell Brown hits a 3-pointer to give the Black Knights a 9 point lead, 57-48, with 5:00 to go. Lyons scores a couple of baskets to jump start Missouri on a 12-0 run as they take a three point lead after Hannah puts in a layup and Horton hits two free throws. #14
It's the home opener for Coach Knight and the Army Black Knights as they host the Hartford Hawks at the Christl Arena. Both teams are pretty evenly matched.

                            First Half
Both teams struggle as the game begins and the only scoring in the first two minutes is a free throw by Bates. Later, Sewell puts in a short shot from near the basket and Sinning hits a layup as Army leads 5-0 with 15:00 remaining. Zimnickas stops the run with a 3-pter then Army goes on a 9-0 run, led by Brown, who hits a 3-pter and a layup. Glowiak sinks a 3-pter then Bates hits two free throws and Bell hits a jumper as Army builds their lead to 12, 18-6, halfway through the first half. The teams trade baskets then Glowiak hits a 3-pter to cut Army's lead to 9. Bates hits two more free throws then the teams trade baskets before Carter puts in a layup to give the Black Knights a 13 point lead, 26-13, with 5:00 left. Brown jump starts Army on an 11-2 run before Zimnickas hits a jumper to stop the run. Sinning sinks a 3-pter then the teams trade baskets as Army now leads by 23 at the half. Army's Brown leads all scorers with 11 points and Zimnickas leads Hartford with 9.

                            Second Half
Hartford's Taylor sinks two free throws to start the second half then Army rolls on a 14-3 run as Carter scores 8 points during the run. After Turner nails a 3-pter, the Black Knights lead by 29, 56-27, with 15:05 remaining. Army continues to have hot hands and go on a 7-0 run with the reserves. Glowiak stops the run as he sinks a layup as Army continues to blow out the Hawks, as they lead by 34, 63-29, midway through the second half. The teams are going basket for basket and after Carter hits a 3-pter, the Black Knights lead by 36, 74-38, with just under five minutes left. Von Rosenberg and Turner hit short jumpers then the teams trade baskets to end the scoring as Army routs the Hawks.
